From the comic rumor mill lying in the gutters

Animated series based on "Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse." To be written by Warren Ellis. Designed by James Jean.

Warren Ellis is a god among men, hell he can drink me under the table, and is quite the interesting choice.

Will never happen.

Especially not based on a 16 year old game.

Damn, something like this is long overdue. At least hes making it based on the 2nd best CV game ever.

Aw, man. I know you've heard this a million times, but you owe it to yourself to play Rondo. It's a fantastic counterpart to Sotn in every sense.

I always suspected that the reason for DoS going 'anime' was to tie it in with an anime series later on.

I thought the same thing the second I saw the demo intro movie at PAX, i'm only surprised they don't make it some sorta vampire future cult dealy with Soma. It seems to more easily lend itself to a series.

I'm not too thrilled about seeing my beloved Castlevania whored out for some freaking anime. :(

In my opinion:

Castlevania III is the best Castlevania with Dracula X closely behind it. Then after that I'd say Super Castlevania IV and SOTN are pretty much tied for third.

I wish they'd ditch the Metroidvania gameplay for one or two games. I think the older level-based games are infinitely more replayable.

Agreed. Though after finally playing Rondo this summer on PSP, I would now consider it superior to CV3. The levels splits are more varied, feature better secrets, a superior soundtrack, and Maria is infinitely more cool (and playable) than any of the three bonus characters in CV3. Granted CV3 has a lot to like, but Rondo does much of it better.

God, makes me wish that the first Castlevania chronicles would have sold better because I KNEW that Iga was either going to do a remake of III or Ronda next.

As much as I enjoyed having the X68000 version, i feel the Chronicles line should have started with Rondo as I likely would have sold better based merely on the positive word of mouth the games had received.

I wish Iga would consider including castlevania 3 in The new PS2 castlevania. Possibly with remixed soundtrack.

Ellis is one of the best sci-fi writers out there right now (and a nice guy to boot) - if this goes ahead it could be fantastic.

At least, in concept.

Ellis' best stuff comes from his unrestrained creator-owned writing, and if Konami place too many restrictions and company edicts it could be a total pain in the arse to write; like much of the Western based videogame related manga out there. Hopefully they'll give him the respect he deserves.

In any case, someone somewhere should do a freaking animated series of Transmetropolitan. That would be just damn amazing.

There was one in the works but the company spun out during the .com bust, Global Frequency while awesome was not picked up either. He seems to have two other projects in the works as well.

SOTN has it beat...slightly...
Well, if we're throwing in our opinions here- Castlevania IV, Rondo of Blood, SOTN, Aria and Dawn of Sorrow all have it beat in terms of enjoyment and longevity.
