Castlevania : CoD should have been for PSP instead

The DS D-Pad, surprisingly, is the best D-Pad since the SNES and Saturn, imho. That, and the powerful speakers, were two rather unexpected bonuses concering the DS hardware, imho.

In regards to the topic at hand...

"OMG, ZELDA 2K5 SHOULD BE ON THE PS2!!!!!! OMGWTFBBQ!?"

Seriously. A direct sequel to Aria of Sorrow doesn't belong on anything besides the GBA or its successors. Do I want a hot, hot, hot PSP 2D high rez Castlevania? Abso-fucking-lutely. I'd be delusional if I claimed otherwise. But let it be a different game, and not a direct sequel to one of my favorite GBA games. New setting, new story, new characters. F-ck, make it Dracula X 3, a sequel to SotN, and I'll be creaming my shorts.

And yes, I realize that comparing Castlevania (a non exclusive franchise) platforms to Zelda (an exclusive franchise) platforms is a bit incredulous and not really relevant. But so is this topic, and that really was my point.

Just mho, of course.

Here's where it fails.. the PSP D-Pad is far worse than the DS one, which is as good if not better than the SP one so I honestly don't understand how you can say that...

If controls were your main issues, then the DS would be the perfect fit

Yeah, I totally disagree. The PSP d-pad is very similar to the DS2 d-pad, which is my current favorite. I do not like the DS d-pad or buttons. They are all too small and clicky.

I have been buying all the Castlevanias released so far...and I have to admit that this time the DS one leaves me totally indiferent.
Looks too similar to AOS which makes it look like a poor effort.

Castlevania series have always been about explaining the fight of the evil forces against the good ones in a different way.
It's the same story, just that characters change.
And this is a thing the DS Castlevania doesn't do IMHO. Besides the graphics look pretty poor since they very similar to the GBA counterpart.

IF they wanted to make a sequel there are plenty of characters to use: Alucard...Richter, etc.
Actually the rumoured Shin Dracula that was on the works for the PS2 had to explain what happened with Richter after Alucard defeated Dracula but it never came out.

All in all, I would die for a 2D Castlevania on the PSP...Using 3D backgrounds like in certain parts of SOTN it would be awesome.

You either haven't seen it running, or have very poor eyes. ^_^

I have seen it running. There is much more difference between AOS/HOD/COTM than with the DS one. I know it, You know it and IGA knows it.

I saw a preview of CoD on this months PSM DVD and it looks god awful.
After playing GoW it's become really apparent that the guys behind Castlevania need a swift kick in the ass for being so behind times.

I disagree. Technically, CV DS resembles SotN much more than it does AoS. Art style and color usage is more AoS-like, I'll admit. Well, aside from the portrait art, of course.

Castlevania 3D needs 2D style gameplay... maybe something like Klonoa 2, with 3D graphics, but movement along a 3D plane... exploration could be a pseudo 3D as well... the character walks a long a rail in a room, but gets to make branching travel options along both horizontal and vertical planes (basically like turning left or continuing forward at a T junction; turn into the left room, the camera and play orientates itself, so the player continues to face forward...

>>>I'd rather see a 2D Castlevania made for PS2.<<<

Why stop there? Make a 1080i 2D Castlevania on Xbox. :D
