He's clearly a setup for season 2... But here's the thing, there was no guarantee of a second season and in just 4 episodes he really accomplished very little.
oh lol
Really liked it, haven't watched an anime in ages.
What is considered good lately? One Punch Man? Attack on Titan S2?
Season 2 of this show was in production long before Season 1 went up on Netflix. It was actually announced to come in two parts: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2017/02/08/netflix-announces-castlevania-animated-series
If this is a hit worth another renewal, I imagine they move on to Castlevania 1.
This series is Western animation.
Looks like opinions are all over the place. So I'll syn mind up by saying that I was hanging with a couple friends and put this on having no idea what it was and expecting it to be terrible to passable. Then we didn't stop watching until the last credits rolled. Maybe it was all of our collective affection of Gothic stuff and complete lack of knowledge of Castlevania but we really enjoyed it even it was obviously basically a prologue.
Well, kindaThis is based on Castlevania 3?
For some reason I was envisioning a saturday morning cartoon when this was announced, not a dark and gritty anime.
Dark and gritty anime makes a lot more sense, and I like the first episode, but I still want to see what a saturday morning cartoon version would look like.
Well, kinda
Is more like a prologue of castlevania 3
I hope this cover others castlevania games
Season 2 castlevania 3
Season 3 Rondo of blood
Season 4 sotn
I don't care about the others games, just give me those.
Is Netflix promoting this show for anyone of you? I had to type the name of the series to find it. My Netflix didnt show it as a Spotlight or under New Releases, Trending, etc.
Normally when a new original Netflix series is uploaded they always promote it! I didnt expect a big SPOTLIGHT (the first thing they show upon logging in) because Stranger Things this is not, but at least I didnt expect to have to type the name of the show in the ay of its release.

It was the first thing I saw when I booted up Netflix on Thursday night / Friday morning.
It was the big spotlight the moment I logged in.
We literally got a Simon Belmont and a view of Castlevania's world in a literal Saturday morning cartoon 20 ears ago with Captain N. And it wasnt pretty.
The scene with the priest in episode 3/4 and Trevor was confusing. Why would the priest call him over to exonerate him? What was the favor he wanted?
It was ok, art isn't great. Animation. Is poor and the ugly shadows on teeth and such that looks like a quick photoshop.
Wish the scenery looked better, overall this needed to look better to draw me in a bit.
Especially after seeing these:This was a really pleasant surprise.
I'd totally play a Castlevania 3 remake where the characters are based on their counterparts in this show. Just saying.
That's for catching food, duh! That town has a lot of slides in it. I know Trevor climbs up a waste chute at first, but what were all of the slides in the underground areas for?
Didn't realise that it had to be Japanese to be anime. This series is Western animation.

I thought it was more of a style/genre...there's no shame in calling it anime.
Why do people keep calling this anime? This is completely not anime.
To be fair... Essentially all animation goes through South Korea and anyways, both Western and Eastern... So anyone picking a fight about "anime" from that stand point is mostly fighting a semantics battle.
Great series, watched it last night. Only complaint is that is was over so quick.
Any word if the next season will have more episodes? Wasn't sure if the short season was on purpose or they were playing it safe to see how it performed.
