Dat persecution complex. No one gets banned on GAF for saying they prefer the games of any console.

Yeah, persecution complex:

Why? He's possibly quite right.

What games aside from the known launch period? Look at this year, Sony had Beyond, TLOU, Puppeteer, Rain, Gran Turismo 6 and a bunch of other exclusives. What did 360 have this year? Only Gears and State of Decay or something?

What exclusives released for Xbox 360 in the last two years would make you purchase a potential sequel in the future?

I haven't seen a single exclusive from Microsoft these past few years that makes me comfortable in knowing MS will develop some interesting exclusives through the years.
Not you again lol. You already told another that him liking Xbox exclusives and that him wanting to keep his gamertag/gamerscore, are all insignificant. If you dislike Xbox exclusives...go you. Some do like them. Halo 5 and FM5 are two huge reasons why I'm getting an Xbox One.

If visual prowess was all that the consumer cared for:
-they'd all be PC gamers

Talking about exaggeration...
I said it was an important part in my decision, not that it should be mandatory...
And no Sony exclusive is available on PC...

Image quality and performance is part of the game that you play and it will be the deciding factor for difference to the current gen.

And dont this to yourself. Selling charts.. Zumba... You know what happend to WiiU...

We are talking about new systems and early adopters.

Confirming that DR3 was a xbox title, titanfall too, he leaked the country locale scenarios document, among other stuff?
It's also quite sad what some posters did by twisting his words to claim he was wrong on the downclock rumor, since he never talked about it.
Didn't know about Titanfall. I've only read the rumour about being exclusive from Kotaku and the Game Informer confirming later on.

DR3 came from that underwhelming and innacurate E3 list.

Why the salty tears over a game being 900p upscaled ? Makes no sense. I can play Mario on my NES in whatever shitty resolution that was over an RF cable on a tube TV and I don't love it any less.
I dunno man... running at a native HD resolution make a big difference. The second you stretch pixels to fill a higher native resolution you loose an enormous amount of image quality. If i need to run sub 1920x1200 on my PC to get games to play at 60fps, I keep 1:1 scaling enabled so that the lower displayed resolution does not stretch to fill the screen (there is black boarder around the image). I cannot stand non-native images. Gotta have those crisp clean edges.

...that said, I do wish the PS4 had TitanFall (when the game launches)

I think there's been a lot of moving goal posts and downplaying the importance of this in this thread. Trying to pass off a sub 1080P console that is 499.99 is insane when the competitor has a cheaper console that will presumably not struggle to actually be next gen.

Absolutely. Both consoles are not powerful, the Xbox One is just underpowered comparatively. I'm actually still dumbfounded they thought Bonaire tech and DDR3 would cut it.

Can anyone explain how MS is behind Sony in nextgen hardware and software even though they stopped 360 first party game production about two years ago, while Sony released probably more first party game in the last few years than any other point in the gen?

One company cares about core gaming, the other doesn't. I think that much is obvious now.

No, it didn't. It came before that, once when he made a thread confirming that the game was in development, and he made a post somewhere else hinting that ms had the game as an exclusive.

I find it really strange and insulting towards CBOAT that people try to discredit him, after all that he got right.

people who have picked a 'team' as it were, that don't want him to be right, have to find some way to discredit him in their own eyes, so they can keep up hope that he's wrong.

really though, they're just delaying their inevitable 'well the multiplatform versions on the Xbone look the same to me' conversion, once the systems are out and the PS4 versions are technically better in measurable ways, as any one following this with a clear mind knows is going to happen.

fear and hope cloud judgment on all sides. look at how many people are afraid of the notion that Microsoft have paid developers to nerf PS4 versions... there's really no good reason for them to do that, or for the developers to take that purse. and the PR damage control all involved would need to do when it inevitably leaked...

but because people are afraid of it, they take a slim possibility and make it seem likely.

because Microsoft supporters are still hoping that the PS4 versions won't be evidently better, they do everything they can to hold onto hope. rumours have been wrong before! etc etc. as if they can't reach critical mass. as if we don't know the actual technical specs of both consoles.

I wonder how you survived last gen, with graphics being that much important to you I bet you didn't touch the PS2...and don't try to twist this by saying that the graphical differences weren't important or noticeable that much back then, the difference in IQ and resolution when compared to GC and especially Xbox was like night and day even in the most common CRT sets let alone better TV sets that supported progressive scan.

I didnt survive. I abandoned console gaming some time in 2010 and switched to PC only playing some exclusives on consoles and the low res and weak performance were always things I noticed.
2005 and 2006 were something else. I just had a HD ready display and 720p was fine but thnigs change and technology advances...

I didn't say that shit. All I said was that those things weren't important to ME. Gamerscore and gamertag are pretty weird things to buy a new console for but hey who am I?

It's great that you would like to play Halo 5 and FM5, I can understand that. but that doesn't go into the question where are the Xbox 360 exclusives these last few years? All I'm saying is that I have a 360 here that I haven't touched in ages because Microsoft is dead set on not releasing any good first party titles anymore and feels the need to put free shit like Netflix and Youtube behind a paywall lol.

But hey keep defending Microsoft without actually bringing up some points to counter what I said to you.

That guy ignored a ton of the PS4's downloadable exclusives while listing all of XBOs and even though he specified launch window mentioned stuff like Halo 5. The ban is ridiculous but his argument was seriously flawed.

Don't see what's so innocent about that, seems like a pretty disingenuous post, and probably piled up on previous posts of similar content.

Do you think they could have shifted all resources to next-gen ? Maybe that's why no 360 exclusives dropped recently.

Defending MS? Me? lol

And what am I supposed to counter? Dead Rising 3, FM5 and Ryse all release exclusively on Xbox One this fall and I want to play them. If the amount of exclusives drops over the years for Xbox One...oh well. Out of my control. I'll still have third-party games and PS4 exclusives bringing me fun.

People who distrust CBOAT seem to forget that his/her balls are on the line. And you don't just risk your balls like that unless you have some solid info ;)

On second thought... this isn't surprise news. Everyone has seen the system specs. PS4 has a slight advantage, but that is largely irrelevant considering we all know brand loyalty boils down to game exclusive preference & your personal online friend community. At the end of the day it's mainly about the games & slightly about the hardware.

The only thing I find odd about CBOAT's stuff is that he always seems to be enjoying the news he delivers. It's almost as if he likes telling us how the Xbox is going to be worse. Odd for an MS employee.

His info is usually solid though.

Yep, a sim racer at launch, a remaking of a cult fighting game series from almost 20 years ago, and a spiritual successor to a Sega Saturn game definitely screams "casual gamer".

So people didnt make a big deal on this "positive". Havent read anything about Titanfall here on gaf before the GI reveal. Neither DR3.

I dont distrust him. I just think he reveals some things to looks worse than it is, and dont make a big deal when its positive, or even ommiting the good things.

feels more like an "I told you so", he probably disagrees with the decisions the leadership has made and well, do you blame him?

Hilarious, now to see how many devs downgrade their PS4 version to please Microsoft and makes things easier for themselves.

Can't wait for that first party tho

I don't think he enjoys the content, he just enjoys leaking news to an audience that loves news. The more controversial they are, the better.

The not 1080p thing doesn't really bother me so much as what has been obvious for a while now: Microsoft is again rushing their console to market while needing to make a ton of last minute changes. This mistake cost them >$1 billion dollars and a lot of angry customers last time but they don't seem to have any issue with repeating the mistake again.

Exactly, he probably was on the side that wanted to finish the console and release on 2014. Microsoft fucked up big time, Sony just did the right thing at the right time and put Microsoft in a tough spot.

7 games in the last 4 years screams they don't care. I don't want to hear what they're doing at the very start of a generation when all of a sudden they need those core gamers again.

So as far as I can make out, he's saying that even though an Xbone launch title will be rendered at 1080p, this is only an exception and most games on the console will render at 720/900p. That's the big scoop he's making with those posts.

Am I missing something or does that not really make sense? Given time, developers are able to take advantage more of a system's specs and improve their games' capabilities over the course of a generation. If Forza can do 1080p now, then surely most games can in a year or two.

Thanks for making me spit Diet Mountain Dew on my keyboard this morning, sir!

Well you gotta win over the hardcore first if you ever want to take over the living room.

Do you think they could have shifted all resources to next-gen ? Maybe that's why no 360 exclusives dropped recently.

Except they didn't. They shuttered teams and now they're opening new ones.

Black Tusk is their Vancouver studio re-formed. They laid off a bunch of people, hired a bunch more, and this after Vancouver failed to deliver pretty much anything last generation. Black Tusk is already having delays in development. As a developer resource Black Tusk/Vancouver have been about as productive as Team Ico has for Sony.

Lionhead has had a round of layoffs on top of Molyneux and Rance raiding their staff when they formed 22 Cans. Go ask EA about how many of the core developers from Bullfrog followed Molyneux to Lionhead in the first place. Molyneux is a first class poacher of his old studios.

343 has made nothing but Halo and fall of 2014 get to go against daddy's new project in Destiny launching opposite Halo 5.

Epic has had a huge game development staff exodus of late, so who is going to make a new Gears if MS ponies up for it? People Can Fly? Judgement was pretty lackluster.

There is a reason why Double Helix is making KI instead of Rare, and it's not because Double Helix was this untapped elite tier studio no one else picked up on. It's because Rare as we all knew it in the SNES/N64 era is dead. They're at best a B tier studio making family friendly motion titles. Largely thanks to how MS has handled them no less.

Even their bought 3rd party exclusives look like a mess. Ryse is clearly the product of development hell, going from a 360 Kinect title to a XB1 controller based title. The gameplay reflects that pretty clearly. Dead Rising 3 likely won't be the last Capcom game to disappoint from a post-Inafune Capcom, it clearly lacks the tongue in cheek charm he originally built the franchise around.

Meanwhile they've let the Shadowrun and MechWarrior IPs walk out the door, along with closing FASA and Ensemble. You ask me they've been headed in the wrong direction since shortly after the X360's launch and living off 3rd party support. It's about to catch up with them.

But if all they were building was a multimedia machine first and a gaming console second...it's more than powerful enough...no?

Being the lowest common denominator last gen worked for them. Developers really didn't take advantage of any extra power the PS3 had because it was such a pain to get to for multiplatform titles. That's not the case this time around. The XB1 is the more expensive, less powerful box. If they think they can get away with the same thing in the name of margins they might come to regret that decision.

Forza probably has to make a lot of sacrafises else where to get to 1080p, besides racing games are easy to get 1080p, other games won't be able to match that.

There is a document somewhere inside Microsoft where they predicted what PS4 specs were going to be. On the paper, it was "projected" that PS4 would be 10-12x PS3 in raw power. Which led some of us (idiots like me) to believe PS4 would run at 2.4-3.2 TF.

The illusion of safety came from an assumption. Microsoft believed Sony was going to go at MAX with 4 GB of RAM. If Sony had went with 4 GB of RAM, the MS's plan would have been perfect, but history told a different story.

I forget... What TF will the PS4 actually run at as opposed to the 2.4-3.2?

7 games in the last 4 years screams they don't care. I don't want to hear what they're doing at the very start of a generation when all of a sudden they need those core gamers again.

I don't understand why it is so hard to realize that they easily could have delayed first party titles for the end of the 360 to make the One launch strong, which it is. They realized that they were the system for multiplat titles and built up the launch of One. Why is this so hard to believe?

pretty much. Sony have a history of supporting their consoles with a fairly diverse and large amount of games throughout the consoles life cycle. MS does not they have only stacked up launch then they started to thin support to just heavyhitters and maybe some gems a year or two. Sue me if I have more trust in Sony right now.

I would love to be proved wrong though.
