Well, I'm usually lurking around in the Gaming Forum and never come over here to OT. Nevertheless, I'm hoping to find some good advice here
Anyways, it turns out that I'm going to be moving to Japan in about another month to start working there. I've been attempting to do a bit of research on mobile phone service providers so I'd be somewhat informed before blindly contracting to a random service.
From what I understand my choices are between NTT docomo, au-KDDI, and vodafone. If anyone who currently resides in Japan can fill me in with the following, I'd be very grateful.
1. Which service provider do you use?
2. Are you satisfied with the service? If you are not satisfied, which service provider would you recommend over your current provider?
3. What kind of plan are you on? (number of minutes/packets and monthly fee)
I've attempted to do my part of the research by visiting each company's respective websites, but since the service packages seem to be sooo different from the U.S. I have to admit that I'm quite clueless as far as how much I should expect to pay per month. If coverage is an issue, I'll be working really close to Shinjuku, and will most likely be finding a place to live somewhere in Suginami-ku. Any kind of helpful input would be greatly appreciated

Internet services seem to be a much more straightforward, and I think I have a pretty good understanding of how much I'll be paying per month for broadband. Just out of curiosity, though, if any people currently in Japan could answer the following questions, I'd appreciate it
1. Which ISP do you use?
2. Are you satisfied with the service? If you are not satisfied, which service provider would you recommend over your current provider?
3. What kind of plan are you on? (upstream/downstream bandwidth and monthly fee)
4. Do you think FTTH (B-flets) service is still too expensive?
5. Do you use any kind of IP telephone service? If yes, are you satisfied with it? Would you recommend it to others?
Once again, any kind of input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance to all
