Since its Halloween and i wanted to check some background facts of Friday the 13. part 1 i found out that after the movie was indexed in 1980 the film was taken from the list in 2005 because 25 years have passed. But in 2008 some idiot forced a rereview of the movie and its on the damn list for 25 years again so heres the list of banned games in Germany:

That's not true.

Actually it is completely legal.
It's just prohibited. You can order as many banned items as you want, they may even be taken in by customs and then a case against the seller be opened, but you as a private entity have not done anything illegal.

So the banned list is very inconvenient if you don't have a nice way of getting those items, but it's not illegal to buy them.

And just to make sure, yes I'm talking about the second list which Condemned: CO is part of.

They're not exactly banned or censored, just not available for sale to minors. You can buy those games in Germany. The *real* issue is that it's forbidden to display them in shops or even advertise which makes it it very difficult to market those games so many companies don't even bother to publish banned titles in Germany. That's how "Jugendschutz" leads to self censorship which is just one step away from real censorship.

What I find most strange is that just displaying a swastika is enough to put a game on the index... C'm on, Germany, learn to deal with your past!

It's kinda simple :<
We've got two lists , one is about games that are "indiziert" so indexed , shops can't advertise for them and you can only get them buy asking a shop assistant because they are not between the other games.But you have no problem getting them if you are 18 , the same can be said about online purchases.

On the other hand we have the banned games....
If you bought them before they were banned you got no problem , but if you purchase them afterwards its a crime.

Once in a while a court decides to overthink the decision of some movies,games or whatever and it gets erased from the list of indexed items.
For example the uncut version of Terminator was removed from index just a while ago and is now officially available for people of the age of 16.


It's not always about gore but also like mentioned in the topic but somehow they are allowed in movies,but not in Games.

RTCW was released in Gemrany with all the violence intact but without any swastikas and stuff. That's why it is just on the index. The latest Wolfenstein was censored in violence and content.

That is quite possibly that you got a fax. You will get notified that the thing will be forwarded to a prosecutor, but you as the buyer are not the prosecuted.
The item in question will also be held, so you're out of luck. That's why I said you get very inconvenienced.

It all depends on what is meant by "illegal". As the buyer you're not doing anything illegal, but the seller might be prosecuted if customs are nosy enough to check your incoming package.

Unfortunately, the two big parties (well, one might not be that big anymore come next election ) are for the most part really aggressive towards violence in media and in videogames in particular (since these are still primarily seen as children's entertainment).
