OMG @ Presentation of MS :lol
Worst presentation I've ever seen!

Out of Memory Forza :lol
"A little dry, a little boring" :lol :lol
2 FPS Forza :lol :lol :lol

That was a riot. After the demo, I don't see why anyone cares about Forza. Meh. Guess Xbox 2 news will wait until E3.

:lol omg what a joke, if you look carefully you can see bill slowly getting angrier after each balls up.

The Media Center PC stuff looks great though, setting your center to record stuff remotely from the web sounds cool.

Poor Bill, deja vu all over for him again :lol

btw, get a new hairstyle bill!

I watched nearly the whole conference just to catch the Conan bits. Some funny shit right there. The screwups were terrible though, remote, BSOD, and 1fps Buick. Was that a final build of Forza running on actual hardware?

that 1-2 fps was hilarious :lol :lol :lol

If the game was so buggy they shouldn't have made a show at all, but I know how things can go for the worst during presenting software (had that happen to myself) so I'm sympathetic with the forza team.

Gates and MS should be thankful to Conan for making their scandalously awry presentations look acceptable and entertaining, he did a very good job of saving the day when a joke or two could really help Bill's team out.

:lol :lol :lol :lol At Forza
Polyphony Digital not only owned the Forza team...... they owned the whole Microsoft Corp. :lol :lol

What was with the guy who wanted to show some media center stuff but didn't because they "are having problems with the internet connection here" and he's gonna "come back to that later". Well i'm still waiting :/

This is funny!

Not so much Conan, but more the fuck ups. I find it odd that Bill Gates, as much as he should know about computers... Keeps pushing the button over and over. It's like impatient people waiting for an elevator, repeatedly pushing the button like that's going to make it go faster or something.

I'm on an fucking OC3 connection and the stream was awful. It would be smooth as silk, then stop... Buffer. Stram audio only... Video advances a few frames...

Got tired of all that. Saw the intital fuck ups tho. Couldn'y tolerate the sh!t long enough to get to Forza.

Thanks for the link bud

can anyone remember when all the funny stuff was?

I read this thread earlier in work, and had to go back many pages to figure out what BSOD meant.

*hangs head in shame*

Pretty damn funny all the same. Those theoretical Xenon media uses sound hot btw. XBMC is the best thing you can put on a modded Xbox. If it's anything like an official version of that, well, count me in!

For the sake of Microsoft, Bill Gates should just stay away from the media. Seriously, he has got to be the most uncomfortable famous person I've ever seen doing PR. He has nothing a good PR person should have...like a convincing voice and way of acting, showing enthusiasm, or just an interesting personality. He's like your average boring computer nerd with a lot of money and fame.

When Bill Gates laughed at Conan during their race, it made me cringe...because his laugh seemed so fake...like he just laughed out at random because he thought he was supposed to. And when Conan made some jokes earlier on, Bill Gates just seemed to get nervous and tried to keep talking his press release language.

I passed off Bill's later foibles as a bad case of the jitters. After all, hardly anything went according to plan, and Bill Gates doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who enjoys random risks. So fair enough, his misdemeanour was very uncfortable--I can overlook that. What I can't overlook are the performances his grunts gave when presenting new multimedia/gaming product.

How hard is it to deliver a pre-scripted 15 minute speech? If you aren't a natural people person, you should appear to be one when presenting Microsoft products to a crowd of techies...especially when the founder of your company is on stage with you. Preparation, n00bs, preparation: work out the kinks beforehand so the nerves can't touch you while on stage.

Gah, I need to get into PR or something; like a politician, delving into my soul is useless, because each layer of my personality is a plasticy veneer that's been polished to perfection. After hours of digging through my psyche, you'd htink you'd come across something of substance, but no. Just layers upon layers of beautiful style. I'm the kind of asshole who should be presenting Microsoft products. Scratch that, the entire show should've been run by Conan.

Bill, I know you're reading this (everyone reads GAF), so listen up: if your employees suck ass at presenting the products they're working on, then hire some half rate actor to do the job for them. Sheesh.

I think Bill actually did fine, considering how badly some stuff went. He's just not a mediatic person.. In that huge chair, he looked like Stephan Hawkin without the paralysis. You know what I mean? Otherwise, I thought he started out rather enthusiastic and humorous, but ended up somewhat jaded and pissed off, but I never saw him channel that discouragement towards Conan, which was, like, cool..

I watched some of it, and while I'm no huge fan of MS (but I am an XBox enthusiast) I thought Bill did okay under the circumstances. Really, with shit like that going down left and right anyone is gonna get grouchy. It really distracted from the message and he knew it. No one likes to have (numerous, hilarious) tech glitches ruin your presentation. Especially when you are 1) the richest man in the world and 2) founder of the largest software/tech company out there.

So I kinda felt bad for the embarassed little billionare nerd.

haha, if it's possible to feel bad for [one of] the richest men in the world, then colour me guilty.

I liked the part after his remote's failed miserably and he attempts to get the presentation going again by asking Conan what he thinks of the camera. Conan replies with something along the lines of, "Yeah, nice camera, but as you know, I have the upper body strength of an AIDs patient on the verge of death, so after around 30 minutes of holding this thing up, my arms could take no more." Bill was just like, "...fuck. Well, it's a very high tech camera with a very high resolution [attempting to justify its weight]..."

So where can I get this whole thing? That link says please stand by. Was it only showed live? =(

There's a link that allows you to download the Forza bloopers in this thread. But for the entire presentation, load up Windows Media Player and feed it this URL: mms://diny-s4601-wm.fplive.net/dims/msmicrosoft/ces/2005_0105_ms_ces_300agility.wmv

I thought Bill did very well. He doesnt have that over the top intensity or shallow robot feel that most PR people have. As far as what he laughed at, I would bet he just has a different sense of humor. Seems more like he was laughing at Conan becuase Connan was having so many problems all after Conan was making all sorts of jabs at him. I would bet Bill loves to laugh at the failures of those who try to mock him. He is Microsoft, its good to see him expose himself to an audience while others seem to hide behind the curtains.

that is a VERY interesting video. All those that play racing game for time score know that speaking with friend at the same time can eat you som 1/10 of sec.

In case of bill, we can really see that guy is not able to think 2 things at the same time (required thing for being able to exibit wiseness and have good strategy as you need that to compare stuff). first time he try to speak he completly go in oscillation, then he find something funny in a straith line and can't maintain the gas pedal at the same time.

Quite disturbing stuff. Really i think my mother have more brain cell than Gates. Don't tell me he have more money than i will ever have so he must be bright, i bet i can have more enjoyment with 10$ that guy can with all the galaxy money.
