The KKK and Nazis have been softening their message and embedding themselves in the GOP for 20-30 years. Their numbers were dwindling in the late 80s and they rebranded and found a way to attach themselves to the Reagan welfare queen / black crime rhetoric. They also pounced on Gamergate early.

This is the result of a long, focus plan to soften their messenging and to legitimize their movement by aligning with the GOP base.

It worked.

This exists today because Sherman was never allowed to finish the job. The leaders of the confederacy should have been executed. A vile mistake in American history.

Having statues of confederate leaders and people being named after them today is a disgrace. It would be like Germany putting up statues of Himmler and Heydrich.

The CSA was a precursor of Nazi Germany. It's destruction wasn't thorough enough.

Maybe there'll be some good to come out of all this where there'll be far less tolerance of Confederate memorials and statues. Bollox to all the "but it's our culture and history".

KKK have been part of the GOP for way longer than 30 years. Go back to 1964 when Dixiecrats(KKK members the lot of them) switched to the Republicsn party when the Democrat party took up Civil Rights and embraced the black vote.

But KKK and Nazis going around fully armed, threatening people, and speeding into crowds? Not a fucking peep.

Truly disgusting and not shocked our shitty PotUS cant even comment on it like a decent human being would.

exactly right. Similar to how the Christian right embedded themselves in the GOP in the 70's.

Unfathomable stupidity. It doesn't make any sense. Why are people judged on the colour of their skin? How dim must you be to disregard millions of humans because of a colour..

I just don't get it guys. Racism makes no sense and these people are just awful.

Who had the biggest fail? Charlottesville police for protecting Nazis instead of Americans, or the President for failing to denounce said Nazi's.

Also, these guys need to be prosecuted, you go brandishing weapons at people, correct? beating black youths until bloodied?
