Should be. Call your bank ASAP and get your money back. Explain the situation. You were charged for goods you didn't/aren't going to receive and that's that.

I do not know if and what kind of a stink Very are going to raise in response though. They may just nuke your account, which seems to be a good thing. Are they known to try and bully people into paying, UK GAF?

They are known for charging people the remaining amount later on without telling them if they honour something at a misprice or if people used a voucher.

They will refund this fine because they have cancelled majority of the orders but they will keep the money for 10 days for the interest.

Thanks everyone. Bank cant do a charge back and said they will send a visa dispute form. I then contacted Very and they said a refund has already been sanctioned but will take up to 10 days to receive and it wont quicker than this.

Pissed off but I guess all I can do is wait.

Thanks for the advice.

Just rang very, a lady named Anne said I have been issued a full refund. Oh well adventure over.

P.S. very should be a banned site. Shady as hell.

Don't know if it's a good deal or now (I googled the prices and they still seem high) but in HMV (at least one in Cardiff) they had the Street Fighter IV Round 2 Fightpads for £12-£12.99. I bought one as it seemed a pretty great deal and online seem higher than that.

Kinda pissed though as all they had out for the 360 was Zangief with his O-Face and Viper but had everyone on the PS3. I wanted Bison :( The guy I asked was the most unhelpful person I've dealt with saying 'Just get a white one and paint it yourself' and admitted to not knowing a thing about them or how they are different (360/PS3 versions).

Got Viper anyway as she's my SFIV main and the colours match the TE Arcade stick.

How do sites get banned/unbanned? Is it possible to request it somewhere?

very and shopto need to swap over.

I will PM Evilore now and see what happens. I PM'd him a while back about the issue, but nothing happened then - I think that was close to E3, so he was probably super busy.

I'm up for voting for a swap. I was burned by the whole Shopto thing but I've forgiven them now. They offer Paypal now right? So what happened before shouldn't happen again if you decide to pay that way.

I think people are overreacting to the Very thing to be honest (and this is coming from someone who also despises them, but for different reasons). After all, you were chancing your arm ordering an obvious misprice in the first place. Win some, lose some. The money will obviously be refunded. They're one of the biggest catalogue companies in the UK, not some fly by night con site. I can't see any reason they should be banned -- just don't order from them. Ever.

as mentioned, there are plenty of sites which have awful customer service and a nightmare to deal with but it doesn't make them scammers

check reviews and ask around before placing an order, the ps vita price suggested that it was very unlikely to be honoured and, even with an established site, it's always a hassle to get a refund

So wait, someone gets screwed by Very and wants them banned and you tell them that hell yeah they should be.

In the meantime me and the others who got screwed hundred of pounds thanks to ShopTo (don't really wanna go over this again, just read the thread ffs) should see that webiste return from the grave, just to add another slap in the face?

FUCK THAT.

Despite the fact they now offer paypal(Meaning they don't even have access to your card) and other than the debacle, I've not heard any complaints about them?

I agree that Very shouldn't be banned on just this one experience, unless after 10 days people don't get their refunds. However, I don't think shopto should be banned either.

Which thread are you talking about? I've read them all and it seemed like nobody could even decide whether it was caused by them or not.

Bahahahahha. Paypal are crooks and thieves too. A few years back they stole £240 from my bank account. I got it back by getting my bank to kick their arse, but ever since then I have refused to do business with them.

Didn't people call up Very to be told that it wasn't a misprice? Then they charge people and hold on to their money to get the interest. And I think Keyser mentioned that they have a history of doing stuff like this. Why shouldn't that be bannable?

But as I posted on the last page, Shopto did the exact same thing with me with a Paypal pre-order, so surely if Very is going to be banned Shopto should stay banned too?

Man you've just lost yourself £130 Vita! If they actually took the money out of your account, then they are legally obligated to give you that Vita! The moment money is actually exchanged, that is when the contract becomes legally binding. That's why most sites don't take money until dispatch, so they can fix any errors they make. I never understand why when there's a huge bargain people are always like, "I hope they don't charge right away", I'm always hoping they're going to take my money!

By accepting a refund, you're probably too late now.

EDIT:

Actually, Very have this clause to get out of it
2.2 When you submit an order to us on our website you will receive a 'bounce back' confirmatory email of this order saying that we are processing your order. You will then receive a second email from us acknowledging your order and giving you estimated timescales for delivery. You should check both emails for accuracy and let us know immediately if there are any errors. Neither of these emails constitute acceptance of the order by us. Your order will be accepted by us (and a contract will then be formed between us) when we despatch the goods to you. Title to the goods will pass to you on delivery.

Don't know if it's been posted already, but Morrisons is selling the 3DS for £99. The one I work at is anyway. I don't know if it's a mistake though, because I thought that was cheap. Worth having a look at your local one, I'll check in more detail the next time I'm at work.

I can assure you that they were deservedly banned. I had a completely new bank card that I had only used for one transaction [it was with Shop To] and from that I got a fraudulent transaction on my bank account. That was the one and only such problem I have ever had in 30 odd years of having a bank account. You do the math.

The Shop Direct Group have always been pretty shady and have a pretty terrible reputation. It's telling when this sort of thing isn't a surprise to people. Alot would say they do these things abit too often to just be random mistakes at specific times of the year.

I also agree with the above Shopto and Very ban swap if there had to be one. But is this an isolated case or has it happened often?

Shopto redeemed and sorted themselves long ago and since have been a solid and reliable outlet and one of my go to's. Surprised they are still banned, especially seeing as how the security system has been completely re-worked.

Shop to are, by quite a wide margin, the best online store I use. It's a real shame linking to them is banned, although it seems pretty meaningless when there's nothing else stopping us talking about and recommending them.

I just went in earlier this afternoon and the only 3DS option at my local store is £155 with Mario Kart or Mario 3DS which isn't bad at all.

cheapest place for a 360 (slim 250gb preferably)my cousins just red ringed?...

Not sure if it's the cheapest but Currys/PC World has them for £189 and insurance can be added for like a £1.50 a month. I have the insurance cover and it took them like 2 months but got a free replacement when mine broke.

The actual incident wasn't really their fault - it was the company which handled their CC transactions which was the culprit - but how they *handled* it was abysmal, lots of denials and uncertainty prior to realising that they were the ones at fault.

That said, I'm inclined to agree with those calling for the ban to be lifted; they appear to have cleaned up their act significantly, and I've had nothing but pleasant experiences from them, personally - but the ban was justified, and it's reasonable for mods to think that their sins back then were significant enough that it's one that should not currently (perhaps even ever?) be revoked.

Sony caused a lot more trouble with the PSN debacle and they aren't banned.

I honestly can't recall even one GAF'er getting money stolen due to the PSN leak debacle, while several GAF'ers (including me) lost a lot on money from the Shop2 leak. Thankfully, my bank helped me out by getting my money back (several hundreds of euros).

While they might have fixed their inadequate security now, they were banned for a reason back then, mostly due to what mclem said above.

Play.com has Portal 2 for 17€, I think that's kinda good?

Anyone know of any good deals for a 3DS? Decided to get my daughter one for her birthday, no real preferences on bundle etc. although a Mario game of some description would be good.

In store or online is fine, as long as I can get it by Thursday. Ta. :-)
