Wait, seriously? Amazon have a pre-order up for as Nintendo published game 2 months before its out. Usually you're lucky if its two weeks. *will wait for inevitable £29.99*

CeX stuffs. My friend hated them back in the old days (well toward the end of it*) when he asked them to order in Gulity Gear XX. They phone him to say its in. Gets there and they've ordered Gulity Gear X. So its a wasted trip for him. He never forgave me for buying my GBA from them.

Otherwise, I like their online stock indicator meaning I can go in there and pick up what I want and leave ASAP though in my brothers case it has let him down on more than one occasion (things like they can't find the disc).

High street-wise I find myself not having the patience to rummage the shelves for items that I once did. Don't know if thats me growing up or the prices being no better than online.

*-I think it was about 2003 they stopped with imports and new games end of. I think imports were more lowering demand as people were wising up that you get a game shipped for about half (more like 2/3) what a shop tried to sell it for.

CEX got bad around the time they could no longer compete on price with online stores. They really started cutting corners, upping prices and lowering the quality of service.

And then the company became the shit-fest it is now. Bet Brooker wouldn't even set foot in one of them now. The staff are horrific, the prices exorbitant, they make a huge trade from stolen goods - having witness staff in one branch buying a box of FIFA '10 the day before it was out from a very dodgy looking man who didn't want to make eye contact with anybody - and they rip off people trying to sell things (as happened with me selling them an iPhone 3G in mint condition over their website, an iPhone which they refused to buy for no reason, apparently got lost in the post, but they didn't have proof that they posted it so I lost it entirely). Awful, awful company.
I'd personally never send a phone of that value in the post.

Hmm, interesting, thanks for that. Heard it's not as good as Xenoblade (and I doubt I'll finish that by Feb) so I don't know if I want to get that asap but I wonder what the stock level will be like for this release, especially after watching Xenoblade eventually getting a decent stock load and finally hitting the ~£20 price range. Still, I pre-ordered it at Zavvi instead along with the Resi Revelations + Circle Pad bundle again so that I could abuse their VC4OFF40 voucher bringing each game down to £27.95 each.

Preston CEX fits the criteria and then some.

Loads of mobiles as well, muggers paradise, mug, sell, repeat. Everytime I go in theres some dodgy looking blokes trying to sell a phone, once even a guy trying to sell a console with no leads or controllers

Gloucester, Bristol, London all the CEX's I've been in are the same, as in you've gotta be a tattooed, multi-pierced person who struggles to make eye contact with their customers to work there.
One of the last times I went I did get Dragon Quest IV DS for £4, DQV DS for £8 and Chrono Trigger DS for £10 though, all of which seemed brand new.....

Definitely. It's an absolute cess pool of humanity. Stinks, is always full of people trying to flog random, probably stolen shit to buy drugs, and the workforce there aren't going to win any awards for hygiene and customer care.

I remember being in the Tottenham Court Road store when some guy came in with a box of sealed copies of Dead Space 2 for the 360, a couple of days before release.

The staff couldn't wait to take them off his hands, and it was blindingly obvious that they were stolen.

Even though Deal Extreme is a good bet, I guess they might not make it by Xmas (which I guess is what these are for).

Amazon is probably the best bet. If you pay the lowest shipping charge they should get it to you in 3 or 4 days, just make sure you use items "Fulfilled by Amazon" or "Sold by Amazon" and not third-party sellers - delivery should be under €5 for all the items combined, and it should arrive in time too

Prices are all over the place though...

Sonic Sega AllStars Figure - £19.99
Metal Sonic ~9.5" Deluxe Figure - £39.99
Sonic: Deluxe Sonic The Hedgehog 10''- £37.60
Sonic The Hedgehog Classic 5 cm Collectable Boxset (6 Figure) - £19.99 (not the main item, check the right hand box)

There are another 51 items here

Thank alot guys. I didn't know that "fullfilled from Amazon, sends to my country also (I think I tried to order once but got a denial in dispatch).
Anyway I order those:

Thank God for opening our gifts in New Year's!
(Orthodox :D)

I've been to CEX in Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester and Leamington Spa. All the same. I'm wondering if they rotate staff heh.

The coventry store particulary stands out as i don't think there's a staff loo and they all piss on the shelves. Really damp, musky place, that one.

for fear of going to off-topic, where dem dealz!?

The DAY the Leamington one opened it stunk in there! Smells worse than Gamestation which is fucking nasty too.

the forza4 session last night made me realise i need a wireless headset if i want to use the speed wheel.
any deals on a 360 wireless headset floating around?

Portsmouth CEX is the only one I've ever set foot into and it fits all of the criteria. The store is a complete shit hole, game cases strewn everywhere, horrible prices, ridiculously long queues, staff telling people to wait in a 20-30 queue just to ask a very quick question, the stock is all in poor condition and the game you want has always gone "missing" - i.e. borrowed by a staff member and lost.

It's not even a good place to quickly grab cash for your games, I was refused because the day I went in was apparently their "banking day" (this was a busy day, either Friday, Saturday or Sunday) and the manager wouldn't permit any cash payouts that day.

Does your local cex also have those oh-so-cool to be lazy, tattooed, pierced-up school dropouts who would rather stack empty game boxes than help the one decent employee manning the tills when there's a fucking giant queue going? Also, playing their shitty music as loud as they can to make the wait and stink even more unbearable?

Fucking terrible place.

You also just described all of the CEX stores I have ever been in: Bristol, Southampton and Portsmouth!

I need the second :/

People dislike the second game but I didn't think it was as bad as people make out. It's just got one particularly lackluster case. I definitely recommend playing it if you want to experience the full story. Trials and Tribulations actually manages to tie up most of the loose ends which surprised me greatly, and theres a major plot point in Justice for All which you'll miss if you don't play it. You can play Trials and Tribulations without playing Justice for All but I think that you'd be doing the story and yourself a disservice by not playing it.

Damn. I put PW3 on my Christmas list for games my mother can get if she can't find the one I want. £5 would have made her very happy.

Might I suggest resorting to the WiiWare version, I think its 1000 points so £7. Sure it has borders (even in 4:3) but that is so resolution in x2. Prebly played with Wii set to 4:3 (so you're not losing horizontal pixels).

I kind of like playing the PW games while on holiday so I'd prefer it on DS. I'm not desperate for it now so I'm willing to wait for another price collapse. It was just a backup game along with a couple of others in case my mother struggled to find Ghost Trick for a price she is happy with (keeping Christmas spending low this year).

OK, went down to Gamestation at lunch and for anyone that is interested I was told the deal (Saints Row 3 @ £19.99) is on until Thursday. Whether they have any stock though is another matter as the lad I spoke to said it sold out pretty much instantly once the offer started.

Hope there's gonna be some good deals after Chrimbo... I know for a fact that I'm getting about £200 in GAME vouchers, and I already have about £27 sitting on my reward card.

My family is going to be so disappointed when they realise all the stuff I'm having posted there from Amazon isn't Christmas presents for them.

Lol, everytime something I've ordered with the help of this thread has turned up the mrs has been like "Ooh is that a christmas present for me?" erm... of course it is! :P

I know I'm a bit late to the party but I would like to mention that CEX in Wigan is exactly the same, at least it used to be.

I ordered Sonic Generations from GAME over a week ago, no sign of it. I ordered Skyward Sword from them about 3 days later and that has already arrived, so I'm assuming Sonic has been lost. FFS :(
