Cheap Arse Gaffer |Europe| With Or Without EU

I am curious... have you guys across Europe noticed whether the OG PS4 has been phased out/not being sold in stores anymore?

in my Saturns in Germany OG PS4 has been gone for a very long time now, same with Vita, no more hardware anywhere.

I do wonder if importing from the UK will no longer be an option for citizens of the EU after their Brexit is finished, because I guess there will be some ridiculous tax adding up to the price and the games and because of that they won't be cheap anymore. I see myself paying roughly 10 Euro more by having to buy them here at local stores or on amazon, which sucks...

This is the same price on Amazon.co.uk also.

I'm pretty bummed it doesn't have Mac support though.

Yeah that's a shame, some people report that it works on Macbook Pro hardware if you just Bootcamp but too much hassle I'd say.

Maybe, wouldn't be surprised, there's the Slim after all. You're not talking about the Slim, are you?

Yeah seems like it'd be inefficient if nothing else. I guess I'll just keep waiting for the Elgato HD60S to go on sale again.

Tesco got vouchers ending today

£5 off >£40
£10 off >£75
£20 off >£150

Includes Switch Splatoon 2 bundle

Do they charge on order? I feel like they do, not sure Im querying otherwise

Hooray for Jersey Island

We should be getting some news on that as soon as Friday, since the EU wants to negotiate Brexit as soon as possible. I don't think it'll make importing impossibly expensive, but I am predicting some higher import taxes, nothing too significant though.
Best case scenario, the UK gets a Schengen free trade deal similar to what Switzerland has had for many many years.

Schengen free trade without free movement of people? no way.. that was the stupid point of brexit.. -____-

No way you get a statement of Friday.
They will say, yeah, lets start negotiating, and that will it be.

You'd probably get UK VAT taken off the price at the checkout (at least if you bought from Amazon) but you may then need to pay tax locally (Unless there's a threshold for small imports under which no tax is collected).

That would mean the UK would lose sales tax income. Highly doubt that'd happen.

Importing typically means you pay tax twice. Both in the country of origin and in your own country.

The EU wants a free trade agreement and the UK wants a free trade agreement.

BUT - and a big but - it all depends on what compromises the UK and EU is willing to make in the "negotiations" to agree to free trade access.

But right now, neither side seems to want to make any compromises, with the EU basically saying 'you decided to leave, why should we do anything for you' and the UK (May) basically sticking her fingers in her ears and pretending everything will be alright in the end.

Amazon usually deducts/doesn't add country tax and instead adds taxes and import fees of the country that it delivers to. If you order from outside the EU at Idea Factory's or NISA's UK based online stores, you don't pay tax. I'd assume the same thing will happen when ordering from the EU once the UK is out, unless otherwise specified in post-leave contracts and agreements.

when I lived in Australia, the VAT from Amazon UK was always removed. Other retailers not so much.

It's not that simple. In Switzerland, an EU citizen requires a work permit if they stay there for longer than 3 months. And if they apply for welfare, they lose their right to remain.

And despite the rhetoric that May has been spewing, I think this will be the type of compromise we'll end up seeing in the UK (if the Tories have any sense at all).

Well, yeah, obviously. Because the package stays within the EU. So that's besides the point.

Amazon has a tradition of "shopping around" when it comes to paying taxes wherever they do business.

Probably some loophole like the Channel Islands one the UK closed around 2012 or so.
Another loophole Amazon UK exploited for quite a while was a Luxembourg agreement: https://www.theguardian.com/technol...gin-paying-corporation-tax-on-uk-retail-sales
I wouldn't be surprised if some of those other UK based online stores did something similar still.

I'd assume the same thing will happen when ordering from the EU once the UK is out, unless otherwise specified in post-leave contracts and agreements.

Exactly, and I don't think the EU is going to welcome a tax free paradise similar to the Bahamas right across the North Sea. They're going to want to protect their own businesses in any new trade deals.

Probably a tax loophole. As I said above: Amazon is king in that department.

nope, unless you pay a crazy amount.
I ordered myself a new vita from Japan last week.
Looks like Amazon Japan it'll have to be, then! I wanted the neon orange but it looks like that's been discontinued and it's being sold by marketplace sellers for a higher price. Might go for the black as I have a white one already for homebrew.

Are vitas region free?

Sort of. The cartridges are region free.

For all digital content however, you need to pick a region and can only buy from that region. In theory, you could switch regions at any time, but you'd have to reinstall your operating system every time you do so. I doubt many people actually do that, and rather buy another console instead. Here's how you switch accounts: https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-use-ps-vita-with-more-than-one-psn-account-218688.phtml

Thanks for the answers. I'd stick to my EU account for digital downloads and to use the remote play feature with my PS4.

On the subject of remote play. Are there any good adapters that allow you to have L2 and R2 buttons rather than relying on the touchpad?
