Cheat Code Central removes Mario Kart DS review

jj984jj

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
http://www.cheatcc.com/ds/rev/mariokart.html

Please note: Darwin's original review was removed due to what we consider to be trolling and erroneous information. He was a new recruit who has submitted what we consider quality reviews in the past. A full review will be posted later today. We apologize for the inconvenience.

:lol

Edit: Here are some random quotes from the review...

"what should be considered an albeit entertaining but milked dry/withered teat of a game series."

"Heck even Crash Tag Team Racing attempted to evolve the Kart racing genre with some new ideas."

"It's perfect for those who don't have a lot of skill or expectations when it comes to racing games, but even as a kiddy racer, it just doesn't hold any interest for me and I can honestly say it wouldn't even if I was 12 years old right now."

"If you do manage to connect to your pals in Hong Kong you'll be disgusted to discover that only a paltry number of tracks are available (due to lag issues) and only four of you can race at a time. What a hassle for a whole lot of nothing imo. There is no particular lobby or voice chat to speak of, so the dream of talking trash to the loser is squelched."

I would've never know of that site if you didn't post the link here ...
Niether would the peeps writing the angry emails. Only way the found out about it is that the review had docked downward the avg. score at Gamerankings.com.

awesome, this will greatly improve the gamerankings score. i might consider a NDS + Mario Kart DS after all

considering that seems to be his intended goal (according to the feedback on the site) it makes sense. gamerankings was right to publish the 6/10.. it is their job to be unbiased.. if ccc felt the need to remove the review though, it is also their right (as it would have been if they had backed the score).

personally I think we have ALL seen enough controversial reviews on sites to know that if a review is legitimate a site will usually back it. generally when sites change a review there is some wonkyness involved.

gamerankings still has the review posted but they seem to have not included it in their average.

current score is 92.2%

I contacted the writer whom had sent quality reviews in the past and was basically told to "F off" and that his intention was to slag the game.
lol.... and that is why you have a staff of reviewers who you can FIRE for shit like that.

Was obvious the review was trash anyway. He was comparing MK to Gran Turismo, or PGR, and racers in that style.

Cheat Code Central is a stupid website that steals some people's FAQs from GameFAQs. Ugh.
ooo, it isn't until now I've realised that you are CVXFREAK on gamefaqs.
Well, thanks for everything.

You're welcome :D

My next FAQ, since I'm pretty much retired, is probably Deadly Silence.

oh yeah, I read your SMB3 faq, without it, I wouldn't have got/known about the coin ship.

What would you rather do?

A.) Freely roam the streets of Iraq wearing a badge that pronounces you a member of Saddam's defense team.

-or-

B.) Post a bad review of a high profile Nintendo title.

Yea seriously. And CCC is damn old too. I'm shocked that CCC is still around after all these years, all the bad feedback they get and the general shittiness of their site.

That one, the suicide thing.

I like this...bad reviews = trolling!

Please .......

Tell me this is not trolling :D

This isn't even trolling as much as it is just inaccurate information submitted by someone who never played the game to begin with.

I still remember the Eternal Darkness fiasco where some magazine gave it a 6.75 a whole month before the game actually came out and the reviewer claimed to have an "early review copy" but Dennis Dyack who regulary posted on IGN debunked his claims saying no review copies had been sent out. So that meant the reviewer was basing his review off the E3 demo. The lynch mob that followed made the publication and reviewer pledge to never review another Gamecube game ever again (in disgust of its fanbase which I'm sure was mutual) and the "Ntards" all toasted their champagne glasses in a collective victory. Good times.

....gamerankings was right to publish the 6/10.. it is their job to be unbiased...

Borghe, is Gamerankings really unbiased? I suppose they are technically because all they do is track the review scores and post them. But I'd still take issue with the idea that they're unbiased. CNET owns both Gamerankings and GameSpot doesn't it?

yeah cnet owns all of them (just like IGN owns rotten tomatoes now), but all the site does is posts game raviews from the net and averages the scores.

it would be very difficult for them to show bias. even if they write a biased review (thy do their own reviews and include them) after enough reviews from other sites their review will have very little impact on the overall score.
