The police probably didn't tell the WWE exactly what they found. They probably wanted to keep a tight grip on information, and they didn't immediately need thousands of wrestling fans to know specifics.

Yeah I started those posts before I read the official WWE word on the matter, and that makes it sound like the WWE indeed had no idea what happened other than they were found dead. So my point can be diregarded now.

Yeah it seems domestic abuse is practically condoned by pro sports, if they wanted to make a good change is if you're convicted -YOU'RE OUT!, but instead they get slaps on the wrists instead, I mean what kind of message do you think that sends?

Steroids=bad
Domestic Abuse=unacceptable

Wait, hold on. Most of the tribute was taped and the live action bits were recorded earlier in the day. According to your timeline didn't Vince find out when the show was already underway and on the air?

assuming the decision was made around 5pm, that still gave them three hours to throw together a show. All of the taped segments could have been done within an hour. the rest is just archives and post. nothing about what they're saying seems at all suspicious.

edit - not to mention like the first half hour or whatever of the show was the end of the 2004 Royal Rumble. post and archives I guarantee you was working on shit during that entire time. They wouldn't just stick on 20+ minute uninterrupted segment just for the hell of it.

Watching the tribute show. Wow, did the Cena bit looked forced or what.

I hinted at the same thing but it's sort of unfair I guess to make that call. He did feel sort of like he was trying to say the right thing versus feeling the right things unlike the others who were more natural to me. Of course now it's all weird anyway because of what happened.

Benoit on Eddie Guerrero (pretty telling)

"He was the one friend that I had that I could go to... pour my heart out to if I had a personal issue. He was the one guy that I could talk to... he would talk me out of it"

I'm one normally against the idle speculation but yeah. Makes you wonder if things maybe would have played out differently if Eddie was still around.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A professional wrestler who killed himself and his family was a former customer of a company implicated in an upstate New York investigation of illegal steroid sales. That's according to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, which is conducting the investigation here. Authorities in Fayetteville, Georgia, say today that Chris Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son before hanging himself over the weekend. Investigators found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscular man was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage." In Albany, the DA's office confirms the 40-year-old Benoit was a customer as recently as last year of the south Florida company MedXLife. 2 of its co-owners pleaded guilty to drug charges in Albany County in April, admitting they helped get prescriptions drugs in 2006 for customers in upstate New York who had no medical need for them. The pair testified Signature Pharmacy of Orlando filled the orders. MedXLife, no longer taking orders, attracted customers through its Web site

I'd love to find the original link to the article. Anyways, I think all the blasting of Fox news and GAF posters over the steriods angle need to shut the hell up. It is well known they can cause mental problems.

I'm still gonna miss Benoit the performer. He was the last solid Champion I liked watching before Orton won the title...well I only really liked 2003/4 anyway so eh

A well respected guy at wrestling classics posted this, if so, this may be the sickest thing yet. A note about the WC classic board first, WC is the WrestlingClassics message board. It is a well-run board with credible, intelligent posters. Dave Meltzer frequents the board regularly. Crimson Mask (the guy who posted) is a well-respected admin and is very knowledgeable and respected. I bolded the craziest part.

This is what he posted:

Okay I've gotten a little more info. Some of this is gonna be repetitive to what's already been posted. Some of it is gonna be very graphic.

He killed Nancy on Friday night. He overpowered her, shoved her to the floor and tied her hands and feet or vice versa, put his knee in her back, wrapped the TV cable around her neck and strangled her by pulling up on it, and smashed her face into the floor after she died, accounting for the blood under her head. The police theory is that she told him she was leaving and taking Daniel.

About 12 hours later on Saturday morning, he killed Daniel in his room with the Crippler Crossface.

About 18 hours after that, on Sunday, he went into his weight room in the basement, wrapped his neck with some kind of cloth, fixed the pulley cable from his weight machine around it with the stack engaged, held himself down on the bench with a pair of heavy dumbbells, and then released the dumbbells, letting the pulley snap up and hanging himself on the weight machine.

The police theory is not roid rage because of the time gaps between the killings. They believe steroids may or may not have contributed to his mental problems as he's been acting in a paranoid manner for the past year or so, believing somebody was out to get him, but they are not looking at them as a direct cause.

They suspect killing Daniel was in the nature of a control freak issue---the idea of the child being taken away, or being under someone else's control after they die, is too much for them---but mostly because this is the most typical scenario in parental killings, and they don't think they'll ever know what was going on in Chris' head.

There was no note. They're still not sure if he text messaged anybody other than Chavo. It was Chavo who alerted the authorities that something was wrong.

Note, Here is an exact quote from quote from the DA Scott Ballard:

"A chokehold was used to strangle the boy rather than hands, because there’s no bruising consistent with a strangling by hands."

The guy goes on to say that they decided on the crossface because of the exact brusing on the body.

.....

Posted this at another board, it's pretty sad. And that guy at WrestlingClassics is apparently a "known douche".

Delta woman says wrestler Chris Benoit had a son with Fragile X syndrome

DELTA (NEWS1130) - We may never know the reasons behind Chris Benoit's decision to take the life of his wife, young son and himself. However, a Delta woman, who was in contact with the Canadian wrestler a few years ago, said she might have some insight into the family. Pam Winthrope said Benoit's son had a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome. Winthrope said she has experienced the condition first hand and knows how it can tear a family apart.

Fragile X syndrome is an inherited mental impairment. Pam's 12-year-old son has the condition and she said in an effort to shed light on the syndrome, her husband called Chris Benoit about five years ago.

She said, "We talked to him because I was trying to set up a support group in BC and in Canada, we only have a couple of them. My husband was struggling when we got diagnosed with our son, and Chris was struggling with his. They talked for a few minutes and then he said he didn't want to be a public face for Fragile X, he just wanted to keep it really, really quiet."

Winthrope said she couldn't believe the news that Benoit had taken his life along with his wife and 7-year-old son. She added that families can be torn apart by the disease because it's very difficult to find help and support. She said, "You as a parent have to go out there and find what's available and it's not easy --they don't tell you."

Authorities offered no motive for the killings, which were spread out over a weekend, and would not discuss Benoit’s state of mind.

Jesus christ I thought this couldn't get any worse.

I am fairly confident that it had nothing to do with steroids. It seems more like he went insane. Placing bibles next to theirt bodies, the incredibly odd text messages, the fact that he was in the house for hours after both acts were commited, all signs of insanity as poopsed to a rage.

I know everyone likes having something to attribute it to, but steroids are taken by most professional athletes with almost no cases anything like this and it seems like they had basically zero connection to what happened.

Fragile X syndrome is a syndrome of X-linked mental retardation. Boys with the syndrome may have large testes (macroorchidism), prognathism, hypotonia and autism, and a characteristic but variable face with large ears, long face, high-arched palate, and malocclusion. Additional abnormalities may include lordosis, heart defect, pectus excavatum, flat feet, shortening of the tubular bones of the hands, and joint laxity.

Prominent characteristics of the syndrome include an elongated face, large or protruding ears, large testicles (macroorchidism), and low muscle tone.

I don't believe it. can you really kill someone through suffocation with the crippler crossface? Sounds more like a broken neck thing.

Ohhhhhh the media will run wild with that.

Yeah I don't believe the crossface shit for a second.

Yeah, especially since I can't find that exact quote of the DA saying he was killed with a chokehold, and I just checked like 6 stories on the incident.

A quick google search tells me otherwise. The mans brain was pretty messed up from prescription pills and steriods. It wasn't roid rage but you can't rule out his brain being impaired from years of abuse. It is still his fault as he knew the consequences of those habits and continued down that path. Just becuase he went insane from his habits doesn't make him a victim and I would never argue that.

He posted this in response to questions:

I was contacted by a WC member who is a reporter on the sports desk of one of the major newspapers, whose identity I confirmed before replying to him, and who released this information, which they had gotten directly from the police and DA in Georgia, to me in the interest of correcting erroneous information he had seen posted on the board.

I've reached my limit....

I was going to make a tasteless joke and fortunately caught myself. This thread and this whole situation isn't healthy.

What an overall tragedy. Nothing more to really say. I'm done.

More:

Just confirmed by the source---yes, it was from the pattern of bruising. They didn't put it together until they subsequently saw footage of Benoit wrestling, and realized that the bruises matched the hold they saw him using.

Well, we'll see - not all details are out yet so time will tell.

crippler crossface to KILL someone seems awfully inefficient....

but whatever, this is just sick and sad in more ways than one. especially people poking fun at benoit and saying he killed his son with his ****ing famous wrestler move. stupid assholes

I can't believe you stupid marks fell for the Crossface bullshit. I mean seriously.

I had a reason to ask...

Crossface = Nagata Lock II. I didn't want Yuji Nagata to stop using his own holds. </goes to hell>

WTF! Crippler Crossface? Are they ****ing around for a cheap laugh at the expense of a child? Holy shit this entire thing gets more and more bizarre. This is becoming more and more like some WWE storyline.

Man, it's a day later and I can't believe the stuff I'm reading. Reminds me of 911 in a way, it's so surreal.

Depending upon the bruises of the body, it might be true if he choked his son from behind. He may have used his arms around the neck instead making it only similar to the crossface.

Complete timeline from WWE.com. Wow - this is maybe the craziest part yet - him talking to his friends apparently AFTER the crimes. I'm assuming C stands for Chavo (actually thats confirmed, since Chavo talked about it) but I would say S stands for Steven Regal.

Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE Smackdown/ ECW live event in Beaumont, Texas

3:30pm
A co-worker received a voice message from Benoit. The message from Benoit stated he missed his flight and over slept and would be late to the WWE Live Event. The co-worker called Benoit back, Benoit confirmed everything he said in his voice message and sounded tired and groggy. Benoit then stated, “I love you”. The co-worker stated that it was “out of context.”

3:42pm
The same co-worker was concerned with Benoit’s tone and demeanor and called Benoit for a second time. Benoit did not answer the call and the co-worker left a message stating “just call me back.”

3:44pm
Benoit called the co-worker back stating he didn’t answer the call because he was on the phone with Delta changing his flight. Benoit stated he had a real stressful day due to Nancy and Daniel being sick with food poisoning. They discussed travel plans for the WWE Tour of Texas with Benoit still sounding groggy at this point according to the co-worker.

4:30pm
A co-worker who consistently travels with Benoit, called Benoit from outside Houston airport and Benoit answered. Benoit told the co-worker that Nancy was throwing up blood and that Daniel was also throwing up. Benoit thought they had food poisoning. Benoit stated he changed his flight and he would be arriving into Houston at 6:30pm. Benoit told the co-worker to drive onto the WWE event.

5:35pm
Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.

6:10pm
A representative of Talent Relations called Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations asked Benoit what time Benoit was getting into Beaumont. Benoit responded he was leaving Atlanta at 9:20pm Eastern time arriving into Houston at 9:24pm Central time. The representative from Talent Relations advised Benoit that it would be too late to make the WWE live event in Beaumont. Benoit apologized citing he had a family emergency. The representative from Talent Relations suggested to Benoit that instead of going to the WWE live event in Beaumont, Benoit should take the flight to Houston, rest up and be ready for the Vengeance Pay-Per-View event.

6:13pm
The representative from Talent Relations called Benoit to reconfirm the travel plans with no answer from Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations left a voice message to take the flight and rest up.

I guess him texting his home address so often was a clear warning sign. He must have wanted everybody to find him and in his family in their final state. Crazy crazy shit
