Chris Keegan on PS3 in PSM2

don't mind if i do

the first half is from a bbc article with no mention of toy story graphics. the 2nd half is a pretty horribly constructed sentence which was no where to be found in the previous article and google came up with nada, even with the corrected spelling error.

get the fuck off the internet.

And for the record that article link is:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/the_company_file/445933.stm

Funny thing is... that last sentence looks a bit different:

Mr Kutaragi showed off some of the new games, in which characters move in real-time and have a new stage of realism, with details like a fog of cold breath.

have a link?

I'm not getting into this retarded debate but I just want to see a link to back up your claim. I backed up an MS rep spouting Toy Story visuals earlier and despite you being adamant that Kutagari claimed the same you have yet to provide solid proof

Meh, it's no sweat off my sac...really. I just wanted to see how much fun you could provide. As it is I just think you're marginally entertaining. Good times to be had by all, so they say.

but no i didn't.
I had quite a laugh. i 'm at work, can't be arsed and wanted a laugh. I had one, it was fun, and no one got hurt

I just took 2 quotes actually and added them together!

10/10 to the gys who caught me out!

The heart of the Playstation2, however, is games, and it is a very robust unit for this. The system is so powerful that it can render 75 million polygons per second. To put this into perspective, rendering the film Toy Story in real time is not an unrealistic job for the Playstation2.

Read the TOS though...posting knowingly false info can result in a WHOOP

The team that's working of the PS3 game made Sudeki for Xbox and PC. The team working on the Xbox 360 game has made the MotoGP.

So we can expect Climax to be releasing a PS3 game with stunning graphics but hideous art? Huzzah.

250 times more powerful than the PS2? Wow, that's amazing considering the guy who designed Cell says it's only 40 times more powerful. It's great to ge excited over new technology, but let's not get carried away into the realm of fantasy where your expectations will be crushed faster than your highschool self esteem during Homecoming.

They released some screens last year. I thought the art was good, much better than Sudeki.

Didnt Climax make Starfox on SNES?

Pretty sure that was all in house Nintendo. If I remember the 3D chip was licensed, but I don't think it was Climax.

This is very old and was probably running on a powerful PC at the time. I am guessing this game will get the Heavenly Sword treatment which went from looking like this

to this

That picture you've posted is for Avalon, the MotoGP team's PS3 and Xbox360 vehicular combat game.

The game quoted in the first post is an unseen title by the Climax Action Solent team.

I'm looking forward to both.

And Heavenly Sword is so damn sexy.

I think he is talking about Avalon which remains unseen and made for PS3 (but they might port it to X360). Climax's other team is working on a racing game for X360.

More information here:

in all honesty though. do we expect the FFVII demo type visuals? or the Killzone type visuals?

would be nie yeah, but surely a whole game of that quality would take AGES to make, the demo might of been done in a week or so, but a whole game?

I'm positive Avalon is the vehicular combat game (which includes land, sea, and air), and is set to release for both Next Gen systems.

We still haven't seen Climax Action's PS3 exclusive game.

There could very well be an exclusive Xbox360 racer, however.

Just Add Monsters became Ninja Theory, who are making the game Heavenly Sword.
oh
remember seeing old threads with that name and avoiding them based on the name alone (:b)...so thanks for the clarification

Put it this way, had PS3 existed in 1998 it would have been the most powerful super-computer in the world.

totally false and untrue. there were supercomputers in 1998 that crunched severa; teraflops of *real* computing power. (IBM's ASCI series: 2 Teraflops. NEC SX-5 Series: 4 Teraflops)
PS3 doesn't even come close: 218 Teraflops CPU + another ~250 programmable Terflops for RSX leaves PS3 with around 1/2 Teraflop. even if im off by a 100 or so Gflops for RSX, makes no difference.

Yeah, some of these terms just get way overused.

Nonetheless, I think PS3 is still going to quite the piece of kit. :)

E3, any news Nintendo release to Washington Post (or whatever) the morning of.

Do they or anyone release anything to Japanese press usually the morning of the conference?

Lovely quotes from this developer. I can't even imagine how PS3 games will look in a few years when developers start getting a hang of this machine.

Especially the efforts from Konami, Square Enix, Capcom and Polyphony Digital! *drool*

see, it's the PS4 in 6 years or so, that'll be the real monster (think of the dreams we had for PS3 before the bubble burst) the PS4 will be capable of rivaling or beating supercomputer from the late 1990s, and not only that, PS4 will be capable of doing Toy Story 1 graphics in games.

word :)
