Christian Bale is in Denver visiting the Aurora Victims

Um, it's nice of him to visit them and I hope it does something to raise their spirits, but some of the reactions ITT make it seem like he is donating his organs to them or something.

I've talked with celebrities as part of my job in the past. It was special to me at first, but as I continued, it became rote, almost expected. A year and a half after I left that position, I had the fortune of visiting SDCC. There you get to see how much fans appreciate it when their celebrities pay attention to them.

This guy's doing a great thing.

Nice thing to do.

But nothing this guy ever does will convince me he's anything other than a total piece of shit after listening to this. A real "never live it down" moment. You really get a feel for the man behind the PR.

So. You've never once in your life blown up or something seemingly small and regretted something you said?

How unannounced was it? Did the victims know he was coming or was it more like he just walked into their rooms and they all of a sudden were looking at Batman?

I mean, if he issued a press release that he was going to show up. Yeah, tacky.

But I talked to a friend who is a doctor at University Hospital, he just showed up solo and asked if he could talk to people.

That's pretty fucking classy.

I dunno. People got hurt going to see him in a movie, so now he's coming to see them. Just seems like a nice thing to do. Maybe not the NICEST thing ever, but still, something about it seems just really nice, y'know?

I find it hilarious at all the people praising him in here, when 95% of the posters in the main shooting thread called this idea incredibly stupid (but not as stupid as him coming dressed as Batman)

Puts him level with Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves who have done similar awesome things (johnny depp visited great ormand street hospital dressed as jack sparrow of his own accord, and donated £1mil to the childrens hospital).

I thought people were just reacting to the idea of him going as Batman, which would have been horrible.

There were a lot of people poo-pooing the idea of him going at all. I think one person said "the last person I want to see after getting shot is fucking Christian Bale". More posts along those lines. I don't know, just struck me as funny because this whole thread is applauding him for doing it.

I mean, realistically, I'm sure he had an assistant call and clear it with the hospital. But that seems normal, I'm sure people would hang up on him if he was like "Hi, I'm Christian Bale."

Well, gaf isn't a collective hive mind. If you're going to call specific people out on hypocrisy, do it, but perhaps you could consider the possibility that most people here said nothing of that sort.

That was a bad day on a set. This is someone being a compassionate human being about a SERIOUS incident.

Keanu seems like a very humble guy. Often donating his money to various entities and persons and working for charities out of humbled concern rather than "Oh, I'm rich and its expected of me."

As an appreciation, in 2003 Keanu gave $79 million to the costume and special effects teams of the Matrix movies – a gift that resulted in approximately $2.7 million for each team member. While filming the movies in Australia, he provided each stuntman with a $12,000 Harley Davidson motorcycle. His millions to charities have gone to Angelwear, City of Hope, CoachArt, LIFEbeat, Make It Right, PETA, Racing for Kids, Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehabilitation Endowment, Stand Up To Cancer and Wildlife WayStation.

Ironically, Keanu’s latest contribution did not come from him directly but from fans who were concerned that he looked extremely “sad” in a picture posted on the web. Once they saw the picture, Keanu’s caring fans put together a Facebook page that allowed followers to make an online donation to Keanu’s preferred charity, Stand Up 2 Cancer.

They (myself included) called the Facebook petition to force Bale to show up in full Batman uniform "to show the kids that real heroes exist" incredibly misguided and stupid. It still is.

Either it's possible to find people with varying opinions.

Or this is some massive conspiracy orchestrated by Bale himself.

I vote conspiracy.

Did people forget that Russel Crowe hit a guy over the head with a fucking phone? Bale simply yelled at a guy. I'll never understand why people think he's an asshole because of that. We've all said shit we didn't really mean when they were seriously pissed off at one point or another in our lives. Even then Bale was pissed because he felt the guy wasn't allowing him to do his job. He even apologized to the guy and made amends. Would you want people holding that against you for the rest of your life?

Some of you really know how to hold a grudge for no reason, its as if Bale personally came to your house and yelled in your face. I think this is pretty damn cool of him to go out of his way to visit the victims.

Yeah, because Bale learned all of Batman's fighting moves when he put on the costume.

Also, you should feel bad for posting that.

I mean, his screen name. Come on.
