Question:

(spoilers about the ending of the Dusknoir chapter)

Did anyone else defeat all of the Luxrays at the end of Amp Plains? I destroyed all of them, but afterwards, the dialogue played out like Dusknoir saved us. Which sucked, because I felt awesome beating all of them. It was probably the most intense battle I've been in so far.

Yeah, I thought that was kinda odd - after we beat them, Dusknoir comes in and steals all of the glory.

By the way, those who played the first PMD and are now playing PMD2: is this game as easy as PMD was, to you? I never played the first one, but this game is not at all easy, to me. I mean, it's not the toughest game I've ever played, but I'm feeling the challenge a lot as the game progresses (I'm somewhere in the teens chapter-wise...14-16 I think?). I heard a lot about how the first one was apparently a total breeze, and if you guys feel the same about PMD2, I guess you all must just be awesome at these types of games. :lol Because to me, it feels like an almost perfect challenge level; I rarely get frustrated, but I've had a lot of challenging moments and faints to deal with.

Holy cow, I didn't know there was evolving.

From serebii.net:

Evolving, like in the first Mystery Dungeon games, you are unable to evolve until you have reached a certain point in the game, in Darkness & Time's case, this is a requirement that needs to you beat most of the game. You have to follow the story beyond the "end" credits
through to get the mission featuring Manaphy.
After you have done that, unlock the Marine Resort Dungeon and you will be able to evolve at the Luminous Springs. These open up normally during the game and is found at the end of the dungeon listings.

When you get there, you get a list of the Pokémon you ahve that are capable of evolving. The requirements are the same as in the main games so some require items in order to evolve. Select the Pokémon you wish to evolve and then it'll step into the springs. An animation will occur and your Pokémon will evolve. You can evolve multiple Pokémon at once so you don't have to go there hundreds of times.

When you first get the evolution option open, you will get notifications that your starter and partner cannot evolve. This is true to an extent, however when you have completely finished the storyline of the game (even the bits after the credits) with the icons as seen below, and have recruited Dialga & Palkia, you will be able to evolve your character and your partner, so do not fret if you cannot seem to evolve it.

About the same actually. The game is easy if you plan properly but, with both games, you can get instantly wiped out if you make one or more wrong moves or make bad choices when it comes items, moves, partner, whatever usage; just like other MD games. In fact, as said in the OP, the game is easier, or just less annoying, with fewer monsters. :p
However, PokéMD is still probably some of the easiest MD games out there (tho Chocobo MD probably takes that prize). But that's where the post game stuff comes in, which is where the real meat of the game is found, IMO.

I also got wifi done on this thing, since I'm using a new DS so I have a few of you guys registered.

I think some of it has to do with who you have as your starter/partner and how they match up type wise with some of the bosses. I just beat the main story line and died 4 times I think, twice to bosses and twice in random dungeon encounters. I think that was more than I did in the 1st one, but it also seems that there weren't as many times where you were free to run as many side missions as you wanted in pmd2 to level up a bit, or maybe there were and I just missed them. I did have to go back out and do some extra leveling/item collecting before I was able to beat the main boss.

But as in the 1st I expecting that the real challenging parts come after beating the main story, especially the lvl 1 dungeons. Those claiming the PMD games are too easy really need to try the non-storyline dungeons.

I'm not sure how many people check the online thread for this game, so I'll ask here.

I need help! I got KO'ed in Treeshroud Forest. Is anyone available to rescue me?

Okay, so I eventually restarted the dungeon I got killed in a while ago and lost, like 3000g and a bunch of items. But now I'm near the end of the game (I think) and I don't have access to Treasure Town anymore. I died and I don't want to take the KO because I'll lose all of the items I've stocked up on to make it through these last few dungeons.

I'm in the Hidden Land, 10F.

I've sent out an SOS to the "anyone" option - my FC is 3308-4877-5717. If you want to use the ridiculously long code, then here it is:

#77=F3 9=8KS6 +6KY04
HRK&K& 185M31 4NH98
3045FC 3#XXC8 CX4YJ+

If anyone could rescue me, that would be awesome.

Sorry for the late reply, but I was out for most of the weekend.

I'm only on chapter 8 but I can lend a hand in saving you. My two main characters are only level 19, but I'm always up for a nice challenge. :p

Edit: You're missing a digit on '4NH98'.

Edit2: I managed to trial and error the missing digit but can't save you; I haven't gotten far enough to unlock your dungeon.

Sorry, mang.

/me continues to loot

Ah, thanks anyway, lyre. I appreciate it, dude. I've enlisted the aid of the PokemonElite2000 forums. Haha. Hopefully, they'll come through for me.

Worthless bump ftw!

Beat this about two days ago, forgot about this thread and was reminded of it when I found out I still had Cocopjojo's Rescue request. Obviously, being the packrat I am, I did it, grabs me an explosion TM and some chests while I'm at it and now I'm probably gonna be passing out a bunch of TMs I've been collecting through the last few dungeons, as long as the wireless internet I'm leeching off of doesn't decide to be a prick.

I have no idea what the procedure for sending items are but they're taking up space anyway. :p

Hey lyre what did you mean earlier in the thread when you said the "real" game doesn't start until after the main story ends? Do you mean the side quests or does something else happen? I never beat the first one yet but I didn't get far since I kept doing side quests instead of the main story quests.

The main game is 'piss-easy' compared to the post game. Where in the main game you don't go into dungeons that are more than 25 floors, the main game unlocks 100 level dungeons after two story related quests where the enemies are stronger, higher level, smarter, can use items and are possibly more abundant, which more resembles a traditional Mysterious Dungeon game. Also a few items are unlocked as well but from what I've seen, they're nothing to write home about.

Happy lootin'.

Ah, that sounds cool. I guess I'll finally push through the story to get to that then. Thanks.

Before you go through the Temporal Tower, be sure to either have some decent to good moves on your two monsters or bring a lot of Revival Seeds. I went in with 1 and spent a week trying to beat the final boss (due to cheapness of final boss moreso than actual difficulty). Tho it could be because neither of my monsters were proper types to take damage from its attacks but that's another topic. :p

Didn't realise I had to send an 'A-OK' mail after I'm done, so here's the password for Cocopjojo, not that he needs it anymore. :p

But try inputting it in anyway, just to see what happens:

Y167CW <> ++4N6H <> P01KT+
C6-&R% <> X0P-%Y <> QR+YJQ
WQ%CNT <> X975@% <> 7JW#6Y

And heres shitty iSight pic of the screen just in case I get a letter wrong.

Hah, yeah, that was a while ago... thanks anyway. I can't input the code because the "recieve A-OK" option is not available, since I'm not dead in a dungeon.

Btw, I'm pretty much a walking deathlord at this point - my main exploration team's members are all in their 60s, I've recruited
Dialga, Palkia and Darkrai
and I've
evolved my starters to their highest evolutionary stages.
So, if anyone needs rescuing (although it seems like no one plays this game), I'm here for you.

And yeah, it's a shame that more people here don't play the game. It's really, really good. The post-game is phenomenal. Actually, the whole game is. The amount of dialogue and cheesy story almost ruin it, but overall, it's just a blast. Maybe I'm just too desperate for a new Pokemon game, but something about this one really clicked with me.

I'm not quite to your point yet; having too much fun catching Eevees and other fav monsters before continuing on. Tho I'll be getting farther in this game than the first that's for sure, tho I'll get around to getting everything from that as well.

Altho, when can I evolve my two starting bastards? I've already caught the evolved version of the monster I play as, Grotle whom will evolve as soon as I get him up a few levels.

As I mentioned before, in terms of single player, the Mysterious Dungeon games are far more satisfying since the game can kick your ass, even if you seem to be having an easy time otherwise. The mainline games are purely for link battles and trading.

Not until literally the very end of the storyline. Like, at the end of the post-credits storyline. It's
kind of lame how they do it. You're just allowed to all of a sudden. There's no explanation. I was really impressed by the post-credits storyline, and then everything ends without all of the loose ends being tied up. Like when you run into, and are able to catch Darkrai, there's no dialogue to explain anything. Oh well.

That's one of the main reasons that I love this game.

Quite a bump, but I just started playing this.

And I'm playing it mostly because of how great you guys say the post-game is... but the main-game has been pretty boring/easy so far, and I'm not sure how much more of it I can take. But I'm only on Chapter 5... so... how long does the main game take? Are the post-game dungeons a Shiren-level challenge, or just relatively difficult? Argh!

There's normal post game stuff, then special Wonder Mail dungeons and such that pit you against some other notable Pokemon. Rumor is that soon Nintendo will release a Wondermail allowing Mewtwo, the only Pokemon still unique to Darkness, to be attainable somehow in Time.

Zero Isles are pretty much where the game can get crazy....along with Egg hatching. What I came up with, as what will surely be one crazed damn challenge, is to pretty well legitly get every single pokemon, including WM stuff, and hopefully most every egg possible(will NOT get one of each gender recruiting or hatching....not that crazy). After all that....Zero Isle South is where you want to go. While you can bring items I think---I won't. Level will be reset to 1, you can't recruit along the way and you can't bring any helpers in with you. 99 Floors. Over 400ish Pokemon that will, for the most part, have a completely different time in there due to their various, at times extreme, differences. Think Linley's Dungeon CRAWL/ Stone Soup.

This will last me until the eventual next PMD game...which I guess won't happen until the next generation of Pokemon unless they do something weird with the rumored "3rd one version" of the whole Diamond/Pearl situation.

I found the main story line in PMD2 to be a bit more challenging than PMD1, there are some bosses that can give you trouble, especially if you don't have a good type matchup against them. Also later dungeons will have monster houses which can be challenging. As mentioned, the post story dungeons are challenging but I think PMD1 had much tougher ones than PMD2. So if you want a challenge, it's worth checking out PMD1 too imo.
