Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 goes hard on its OST...but i actually just stopped a boss fight to hear a song. List songs that had the same effect on you

I'm hiding the spoiler but for those that may not recognize it, this is from Simon's boss fight...the most difficult boss in the game and the song is from its 2nd stage.

Like...wtf was this. I was murdered by this boss AND by its soundtrack?

Any songs that had the same effect on you? Which game / song?

Having not played the first game, I was intrigued by Automata by the clips I had seen. But playing the demo, and getting to this point took me to "holy fuck I need to play this game":

up there with possibly the best OST for a game ever
couldn't have said it better

I have said it before but this is my fav or second fav rgb of all time just after FFX.

it's really something else and an experience must be played even if you do not like RPG games.

Not exactly the same but recently in Silksong when I reached a certain area of the game, saw the environment and heard the music I stopped for a while to just soak in the ambience. Incredibly evocative stuff, the song itself is haunting (reminds me a bit of Metroid Prime) but it's really the combination of the visuals and the music that makes it so effective.

Here's the theme:

Heavensward, for me, has some of the best FF music in the entire series. I stayed in Matoya's cave longer than I needed to to soak this in. Really brought me back to the OG game when you heard the 8-bit version

When I hit Moonlight Butterfly in Dark Souls and I got rekt because I was in awe. The music is totally unexpected, gorgeous and the boss' movement and location only adds to how surreal that moment feels.

Also a big reason why I miss their OSTs not being 95% blaring orchestral pomp because "epic".

I love the soundtrack, but I think it repeats themes way too much.

Multiple tracks are just variations of the same song. And most of them are too ... melodramatic?

I'm playing Hollow Knight right now before diving in Silksong, and man, this game's soundtrack is something else. Just perfect.

Like, take this sample:

The composition is masterful. Might be one of my favorite tracks in a game ever

Leitmotif heavy soundtrack for sure. Not necessarily a bad thing, since the story has a very strong central theme.

Game of the generation so far for me, I think it's that good. And yeah the soundtrack is just amazing, beautiful and one of the many pieces that come together to create this experience.

Lorien Testard really came out of nowhere and dropped one of the hardest OST ever, so many banger:

Not one of the popular, but this hit a string for me...

Same game (exp33) and even just the boot screen song goes hard I let it finish.

Almost all the boss fights have slapping songs worth just waiting for the song to loop then start the battle.

Whenever I discover a new record I go to camp and just play it.

Im really curious how many awards Exp33 is gonna take this year......hopefully it cleans house.

The entire soundtrack is perfect for the game, if you didn't know what Warhammer 40k sounds like, Darktide sure as hell knows.

You encounter this song when fighting an enemy commander for an assassination mission.

Doom 2016 and Eternal shits all over your cowardly French croissant sounding soundtrack

Good Riddance from Hades

So unexpected after going through all the different rooms and having so much action and then this beautiful song comes on out of nowhere

Art of Rally has the most ridiculous soundtrack I've heard relative to how small of a release it is. So many of these tracks are Kavinsky level. When I first started playing, I would pause the game and jam out.

Edit: eh, excuse the mess, apparently the YouTube embed is wonky here.

Loved the battle themes in SMT V: Vengeance. SMT music is one of my favorite aspects of those games and they never disappoint.

Best music in gaming for me:

1. Lies of P
2. Final Fantasy 7(original)
3. Clair Obscur Expedition 33
4. Hades
5. DOS2(Lohse's Song)
6. Super Mario World
7. Super Castlevania IV
8. Ocarina of Time
9. Snake Eater
10. Portal

These are just the ones off the top of my head. I'm sure I've forgotten some gems. Each game listed has a special song or music section in it that is legendary.
