Cliff Bleszinski would like Clive Owen to play Marcus Fenix in a GOW Film

Stop being such a tool.

He describes his game as the Jerry Bruckheimer kind of gig, so stop spreading bs. Seriously, here's a guy that does nothing wrong and gets shit from some people, but then you have these fucking wackos like Kojima and shit, that get their dicks sucked.
I wouldn't even elevate the story to that level. The story is largely ornamental in Gears. There's almost no narrative to speak of. And, on the other hand, the firefights in Gears were more intense than anything Bruckheimer could dream of making because you get to experience them. It's really an apples and oranges comparison.

The best game<->movie adaptions happen when developers and directors aim to provide the same experience using techniques that are appropriate for the medium. Goldeneye captured the feel of a good Bond movie and The Matrix captured the feel of a good video game.

S**t, Mickey Rourke's just about got the Marcus Fenix voice down...

Good choice...
I see Cliff does catch some shit for whatever reason. The guy seems pretty cool. I thought he gave some great answers in this interview:

The dude designed a hell of a game in Gears 1. If I still had a 360 I'd be gettin part 2 in a heartbeat. I could even let the Dualshock 3 dis slide. ;) Mickey Rourke for Marcus. Ya' listening, Cliff?

My favorite game adaptation is still Mortal Kombat, for nostalgic reasons mainly, but looking back, given what the game actually gives narrative wise, it really did feel like the makers of the movie cared about capturing the games essence. without making it a big joke. Doom is probably in second place for me, if only because the director went out of his way to film a first person ending scene.

Thats all I want really, to feel like the directors/actors actually give a fuck. I think that once that happens, these things may start turning out a bit better.

Aside from the track record, I don't really get the doom and gloom surrounding game to movie adaptations. If they can make a good Batman movie, then I don't see why certain game stories can't be adapted. And I don't mean that as a Batman diss, I mean that I believe that any story, or better yet, any sequence of events, can be told in an interesting way if the right creative people are behind it.

I think that the genre just needs to find it's lucky break, something that is half decent and makes more then half decent money.
