If you've followed this story at all, do yourself a favor and listen to the entire podcast before scrolling down because it's damn good and this thread will probably not do it justice.

If you don't really care or have the time, here are some spoilers:

-Basically everything that was speculated to be the cause is true (banged up, WWE Network uncertainties w/ regard to pay, unhappy with his storylines and his proposed Wrestlemania angle) but mostly it was his health.
-He had a concussion and what would turn out to be a staph infection that WWE doctors refused to treat because he'd be out of action.
-He left to get treatment, WWE suspended him and withheld his royalty checks and ultimately sent him his termination papers on his wedding day.
-That last bit is the reason he says he'll never return to WWE again.
-Seriously, you should listen to the podcast. There's lots of great little nuggets of info.

This is just depressing. One of the best ever in the ring and now we'll likely never see a CM Punk match again because WWE made him hate wrestling. Firing him on his wedding day when he was perfectly willing to talk to them again after he received his royalties is fucking cold. And the story of WWE's doctors misdiagnosing his concussion and staph infection makes me seriously question the safety of the wrestlers in that company. If they'll go all carny on a guy like CM Punk and lie about his health to keep him wrestling, what the hell do they to undercard guys? This needs to get mainstream attention and WWE needs to catch some serious hell for this.

All of the medical stories seem illegal.

For as bad as the NFL has been at least they have a players union. WWE doesn't even provide health insurance.

After the stuff that happened with Del Rio recently, none of this surprises me at all.

I'm sure he will be in a ring competing in front of a crowd again one day, but it won't be a WWE ring.

In the end, when Colt is talking about Batista competing in MMA and how much crap he took for it and Punk mentions Batista visited him recently and they talked about that, it seems Colt let slip that Punk is going to do MMA. I'd have to re-listen to that part to get the exact wording but it sounds like he knows he said something he shouldn't have and quickly throws in Marvel Comics to try and deflect it.

Is CM Punk going to do MMA?

This is something that happens in contact sports.

But usually the doctors don't go: "Hmmmm we have a tour in Europe coming up. Here are some pills or whatever fuck you"

also what I posted in general

I don't think it's the presence of the staph infection that's troubling. It's the fact that WWE's doctors called it a fatty deposit and kept him wrestling. Months down the road his wife recommends another doctor. That doctor says it's a staph infection, and working with it that long could have literally killed him.

It seems odd to me that he didn't mention Paul Heyman at all when he was summarizing the events of the last few years.
Paul is just brought on to do Brocks promos at this point. He lost all power when Vince thought Bobby Lashey was going to be a bigger star than punk.

That's the same guy who started the whole NFL expose on concussions as well.

He started procuring brain samples from deceased players for medical research.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Well, he's writing Thor Annual now, so he's definitely doing something he enjoys (and is probably a little less hazardous to his health.

I'm sure some of it is blown up by Punk since it's his side of the story but
he wouldn't be stupid enough to lie about all the doctor stuff since that would get messy as fuck. He knew that would put the spotlight on WWE and whether or not they are doing dodgy shit.

Remember how everyone said Kurt angle was crazy and that no one in WWE ever forced him to stay active despite his bad health?

WWE's roster is hyper-depleted right now- shit like running 2x house shows is stuff they do NOT have the roster for, but keep doing anyway because they don't want to give up the revenue.

Highly likely, he even said on the podcast that he is doing a ton of training and the non-compete is only for UFC.

Pretty sure he has a bunch of instagram/Facebook photos floating around with an MMA gym too.

Yeah they are having a super bad run at the moment. Doesn't help they sent Orton away to do a movie either.

Maybe it's a sign they are taking concerns more seriously? Who knows. I hope so at least.

There was a wild rumour from an MMA journalist that the big announcement UFC was supposed to reveal last week was them signing Punk but it couldn't be completed in time.

It's funny because if CM Punk decided to come back, he has a better chance at main eventing WM now than he ever did.

Also at the beginning of the podcast they say that they're going to end on a good note with a surprise about the future, which I took to mean MMA, but they never address the surprise at the end.

Maybe they meant the end of next week's Q&A show?

I thought it was the settlement. Punk took Vince's ass to the cleaners and got everything he wanted, and then some.

And then took some from 2K as well.

The WWE has always struck me as a very classless organization.

There is a lot of stories about racism within the company, and they treat a lot of their employees and wrestlers like shit.
