I'm a couple episodes in. I will finish the series no matter when it ends. But I feel like its getting long in the tooth after a couple episodes so far.

Second note - Daniel's wife should have him see a therapist. He dwells way too much.

Just finished the season. I think it's the best season yet, honestly. I have a hard time seeing where it goes from here, though. That could have been a perfect series ending if I'm being honest.

This is the weakest series by a long shot so far. I'm just on the final episode.

Sam is so unlikeable in this series it's almost like character assassination

I'm surprised you found her unlikeable or even cared about her at all, considering how much she was shoved into the background this season compared to Tory. I was expecting a villainous arc for Sam and for her to be obsessed with why she lost that tournament to the point where it would cause issues with her personal relationships. However, like the rest of the cast aside from Johnny and LaRusso, they just sort of swept her story away and thus she had nothing to do around halfway through the season.

Haven’t finished it all yet, but holy shit
seeing young Johnny!

I was thinking, was it deaging tech? No, way they do this better than the MCU, and anyone else who’s tried, it has to be deepfaked!?

Turns out it was an actor, Logan Coffey, spot fucking on! That was an incredible moment.

I was definitely wowed by that! The only thing that has come close is Terminator: Dark Fate.

That deepfake was incredible stuff and so unexpected.

Also agreed that this season seemed so rush. Definitely some highlights for sure, but also some head scratchers. The whole Miguel side-quest in Mexico kinda just got buried unceremoniously and felt like a waste of runtime. Too many characters, too many plot lines, not enough budget or time to deliver. This show continues to be so janky.

Chozen and Silver stole the show for me ... the latter had so much screen presence. And each time all the OG cast were together, it made up for all the teenage crap. Really loved how all the villains Mike, Johnny, Chozen bonding and getting along so well. Kenny ... ugh. God I hated that kid ... I guess the actor delivered there.

Where does the show even go from here? It can't just be good guys. Silver is going to be out of the picture for a while. Sure, Kreese was exonerated but he would still be a fugitive for breaking out of jail.. assaulting the two nurses.. How would he open up a dojo on the run? Evil Korean lady might be able to do it.. but she would have to start from scratch in the US.

Finished season 5 and I feel that it's quality dropped from season 3 and 4.

Season 4 ends with Miguel heading to Mexico and the show hints it's going to be some big plot moving forward but it's over within 2 episodes. Wasted time but good that the writers realised there isn't much to discover there.

I was so sick of Daniel and hid wife arguing, glad she finally got on the same Page as him and the arguing stopped. Even if Daniel sounds crazy and obsessed over Cobra Kai. LOL

Loved the fight between Robbie and Migurl and happy they are friends now.

Also happy that Sam has become a likeable character. She has been an annoying bitch for so long.

But a martial arts show needs to live and breath on it's fight scenes and season 5 dropped the ball massively in regard to this. Most fights were so average, way to much editing. Part of the problem being the actors for Johnny and Daniel getting too old, it's so obvious when they are switching in stunt doubles and it kills the editing. Stick to what the actors cab actually accomplish and work around that I say.

Silver is a damn great villain though, better than Krease. Will be curious to see what they do with season 6.

My favorite character was actually Terry Silver - and he was really the star of the S5.
The guy, as far as I know hasn't really hit that big at all as an actor, and wasn't in any TV/movies for like a decade - but he fit into the character so well in Cobra Kai, in that 80-90's sense.
Johnny felt little too tamed in this season, and Daniel... well, always that blockhead Daniel San.

Yeah, Thomas Ian Griffith had about an 8 year gap in film work, but he was fairly active on Grimm, so this isn't his first time back since the mid 00's. Curious how he feels about his career, or if acting and stuff was just a side gig for him.

Just finished watching this and didn't really enjoy it tbh.

The show started out great because of it's focus on Johnny and his efforts to get his life back on track, his band of misfits, and his rivalry with Daniel who was essentially playing the support role. Daniel and his family were always the weaker part of the show and Sam in particular has always been one of the most annoying characters. Season 5 was basically all Daniel and relegated Johnny to a side role and with it removed a lot of the fun and charm that the series used to have. It just doesn't compare to the original series and what made the show popular and continues on a trend of trying to make the show a Karate Kid series rather than a Cobra Kai series. Having Johnny, Chosen and others spend moments idolizing Daniel and recounting his exploits in awe and wonder only serves to show how far off track the show has gone.

Silver is good as a villain, but again only serves to force the focus and main story to be on Daniel. They could've done a lot to set up an interesting dynamic between him, Kreese and Johnny in regard to the battle for the Kobra Kai name and it's students but instead it's just more of the Daniel show.

Sam remains insufferable but they keep portraying her as the star and giving her way too much time. Robby was always annoying but now get's more time than Miguel. The only interesting characters are what remains of Johnny's Kobra Kai class but even Tori's story and hardships are barely looked into and instead we just get an excess of Sam pouting and being spoilt and unlikable but framed as the troubled hero.

Very disappointing. I hate to say it, but I think they need to end it after the next season.

Thought S5 was solid. Decided to rewatch S1 afterwards, and the contrast was very obvious. Just Much better quality. As noted above, focusing on Johnny, Miguel. A little more grounded story also helped. S5 pumped it up a bit too much.

This season was enjoyable. I agree with the person that said that around episode 4 or 5 I was starting to get impatient, it was just not that compelling, but then thankfully it picked up. They gave us enough fan service to feel satisfied. Nearly every major character of the first 3 movies were brought back at some point during the series. The series could end here and I would be happy with it. I'm curious to see where they'll go from here.

Do we know for sure they'll be more seasons?

Yes, the producers have said they want to do more... and given how successful the show has been, I'm sure they will get their way.

There were four original movies. The Next Karate Kid (1994) was not well remembered.. but then again, neither was Karate Kid 3. Be on the lookout for Hillary Swank.

It was good but the series is losing steam. I felt Miguel's mexico arc was a bit useless. There wasn't a tournament this time either. I was hoping for some cage fighting here.

The conclusion with Silver was also a bit tame, after a good build up. But Thomas Ian Griffith is absolutely killing it. Kove didn't have much screen time, but he owns every scene hes in. Kreese is great and I like how they gave a one dimensional movie villain such good backstory in this series. But the same could be said about Johnny ofcourse, who is the most likable character in the show period.

That one sceen in the limo, Daniel and his 2 biggest movie rivals together being shit faced... its just awesome.
