From what I can gather, it is exactly like Diet Coke, but it is supposed to taste like regular Coke.

Should be slightly interesting to say the least.

Man... Now I want a Coke after reading that. I know it's all just PR junk but...

I'm thirsty as hell for some Coke now.

WHO DEY!?
I saw this yesterday and did not understand. Now they have Diet Coke (with Aspartame), Diet Coke with Splenda, and now Coke Zero (also with aspartame).

It must be a third pillar.

I'll try out that new product when I go to New York in August.

It's Aspartame with Ace-k.

By the way, Coca Cola C2 tastes like shit.

People get confused with the idea that it defeats the purpose of Diet Coke.

Diet Coke contains No Sugar. But.....it has Calories in it and Carbohydrates. Which means if you drink a hell of a lot of it you can still get fat.

Coke Zero on the other hand contains No Sugar, No Carbs and No Calories. And if you drink a hell of a lot of it, like you might have with Diet Coke, you won't get fat at all. Simply because there are no ingredients in it that creates saturated body fat. Hence the Zero Tag.

In Ireland here we have Sprite Zero and Fanta Zero, Coca Cola have recently done away with Diet Fanta and are replacing it with Fanta Zero. (Ireland is in the top three in the world holding the biggest Coca Cola Factory, we are big Coke drinkers) so if Coke Zero becomes successful it wont bode well for Diet Coke id say.

Pepsi Max is pretty big over this side of the Big Pond too, huge in fact. Bigger than Diet Pepsi, but it hasn't let C&C (Pepsi Ireland bottlers) to take Diet Pepsi off the shelves.

You Americans get everything first, I wouldn't mind trying this Coke Zero.

It has neither carbs nor calories, that is why people are confused.

I dunno about America, but in Ireland and indeed the UK, Diet Coke has Calories!
I'm looking at the side of a Diet Coke bottle now and it says:" Low Calorie Soft Drink with Vegetable Extracts, with Sweeteners."
And a correction about Carbs, I just checked and it says no Carbs. But it does have Calories, atleast here in Europe.

I had to give up Coke a year ago and have been looking for a substitute since. I really love the new DC with Splenda as it was a step closer to tasting like the real thing, but if this stuff delivers on its promises I will be Coke's bitch for eternity.

Edit: Doesn't DC have sodium? Coke Zero I would presume has none.

No Sodium in Irish Diet Coke. But yet we have Calories in our DC, so America could be different. Unless its the same there as it is everywhere else.

Very weird (the differences that is).

I have read that it is still possible to find "New Coke" in certain places, and it is called Coke II. Can anyone verify this?

omg, HOW YOU DARE!!!

C2 actually tastes .. well .. passable ..

it's alot better than the horribly awful diet coke

SteveMeister

Hang out with Steve.
In the US, there is Diet Coke (aspartame), Diet Coke with Splenda, and now Coke Zero (aspartame). None of them have any calories or carbs, and all are "very low sodium".

Diet Coke (both sweeteners) has the same formula. Apparently it's also the formula they tried for New Coke back in the mid-80's.

Coke Zero has the same formula as Coke Classic. And it really does taste a lot more like regular Coke Classic than Diet Coke does. I drink diet sodas more often than regular and so am used to the aspartame taste, so I'm not the best to judge on how that affects it. But I thought it was pretty good. And I've always liked the Coke Classic flavor better than the New Coke/Diet Coke flavor.

It is weird though, Coke has so many varieties now. Plain, Lemon, Lime, Cherry, Vanilla, Caffiene Free in both regular and diet, and now 3 varieties of the plain diet cola. Oh yeah, and C2.

Well, I like Tab.

*runs*

I with you bro, don't run. I moved to Philly from Orlando in the past year and was pleasantly suprised to find Tab in the fridge packs. Down south it's only six packs i.e. expensive. And depending on the day of the week you go shopping it's sold out.

And while we are at it, I have heard differing opinions about whether Guinness is properly served cold or closer to room temperature. Please enlighten us unwashed heathens. :)

P.S. My wife loves mixing Guinness and black currant juice, turns out to be quite a cocktail.

Well the Old men of Ireland which some would deem 'Knowing their stuff' on the Black Stuff actually have been knowing to keep Guinness heated by a fire.
Some like me prefer it Cold as Ice.

It has Energy, right? It can't exist out of nothing. :p
Of course, but if your body can't digest it (which it can't for Aspertame) then it don't matter. 'American' diet coke has only 1 1/2 calories or so per can, so there's probably some stuff in there we can get suck out some energy from.

I like My Guinness cold too.

I am drinking a Coke Zero now. It tastes different than diet coke, but I think i prefer diet coke w/ Splenda.

Nerevar

they call me "Man Gravy".

technically it's supposed to be served warm (i.e. higher than room temperature). Only the truest of Irishmen like it that way though.

I've always wanted to try Guiness warm - the way it's "supposed" to be served - but I'm afraid I'll just be given the strangest looks in the world if I make the request.

Just checked something.
Irish Diet Coke contains both Asparitame and Acumulfame K (sp?)
And Im a true Irish man, I hate my Guinness warm. My Grandfather loved it heated by a fire though before he touched it.
In Ireland Pubs have TWO versions of Guinness installed! For the past 8 years or so.
One called Just "Guinness" which is not quite cold and the other called "Guinness EXTRA COLD" which is super chilled .

Heard that the real Guiness can be found only in Dublin? True/false?

False.

Guinness is brewed in Dublin and Belfast. But Dublin is the main brewery for all over Ireland. I think Belfast does extra Bottling.

I had a Guinness in Canada once, it tasted more like the other Irish Stout called Beamish. It wasn't thick and was very watery.
For those that didn't know- Guinness is good for you! Perhaps the only Alcoholic Drink full of Vitamins and Iron, it's like a Three Course Meal in a Glass.

I'd really love to taste this Coke Zero though, pity I didn't know anyone in America. I could have done a trade! lol Real Guinness from Ireland for a can of Coke Zero, or a case of Real American Budweiser. Now that would be great! :D

EDIT: On a side note, sticking to the Guinness thing, whats the Alcohol Volume over in the States? Like for a bottle of Bud? I heard it was pretty low.....Budweiser over here is 5% per 330ml Bottle.

I will have to go out on a limb here and second the "Coke C2 tastes like shit" statement. I tried it when I was in Japan last year and it was just being introduced. Verdict: :(

For what, inducing vomiting? You don't want U.S. domestic Budweiser, please - for the love of God - trust me on this.

I found Guiness to be quite nasty.

But then I guess you have to be a pretty diehard beer drinker and in that case, I am not.

Mostly margaritas for me for when I do drink and thats not on a regular basis.

Budweiser, outside Guinness's own lager called "Harp", is in the top three most popular lagers in Ireland.
It's my favourite though. Which is the reason why I always wanted to taste the "Real Thing" from the states. Oddly enough, Budweiser is Brewed by Guinness over here. Same as 7up is made by Pepsi over here too, weird place we live in.

7up is a Pepsi brand everywhere actually (Same as Sprite is to Coke).

However, the same deal for Budweisers made in Canada exist (Made by Labatt brewing, a Canadian brewery)

The "real thing" is basically yellow-tinted water that tastes like it was sitting in a rusty pipe for a few days.

God not this again. 7up isn't a Pepsi brand. It's owned by the people who own Dr. Pepper, the Shwepps(sp) company or something. Dr. Pepper allows either Coke or Pepsi to distribute them in certain markets were they do not have enough market share to warrant a production/sales plant of their own.

On another note, Hawaiian Punch is actually owned by Dr. Pepper but Pepsi entered into a contract to license the formula distribute nationwide. If you don't believe me look at the side of a can or bottle. It will say manufactured under license from Dr. Pepper bottling. Hawaiian Punch in some markets outsells Pepsi.

I always thought Coca Cola owned 7 up. I think Coca Cola makes it here in Sweden. But we have Dr Pepper and some Schweppes drinks to.

But I like the taste of Diet Coke, and not regular Coke.

Hmm. Maybe I'll get used to the regular Coke flavor again, but I think it's pretty nasty still.
