COD leaker: MW4 (2026) skipping last gen, in dev on next-gen Xbox dev kits

Two threads here covering the same topic...

Wouldn't it be:

Previous Gen - PS4/XO
Current Gen - PS5/XS
Next Gen -New Xbox 2026, PS6 2027/28
Man if PS6 is 2027, what an useless piece of HW is the PS5Pro, at least the PS4Pro had some time alone to breath and show some of its "capabilities", 5Pro is gonna be only 3 years and with games taking longer to make, Sony shouldn't have bothered at all XD

Anyone believing MS is launching a next generation Xbox in 2026 given how badly they are currently doing right now is on some serious drugs. A "next gen" Xbox next year would be expensive AF with very minimal improvements over the Pro and no one would buy it but the extremely diehard. It would make Stadia look like a huge success.
You don't think good ML upscaler, substantially better cpu and a better GP that can properly handle ray tracing is good improvements? lol

Next gen isn't a thing, any console launching in 2026 will be a pro console

Not that it matters, discontinuing support for ps4 is all that's being discussed here, not abandoning ps5 gen

- 1.5-2x better CPU
- 24-32GB of memory
- Full FSR4 support

And you have next gen console. GPU don't have to be much more powerful than Pro.

It's a bit more involved than a PS5 Pro type refresh thanks to more memory and CPU, but not really transformational as we can see with PCs that have such modest improvements. This is likely to be pushing over $1000, especially if the GPU upgrade is supposed to be a meaningful improvement over the PS5 Pro. Everything will cost a lot more than the PS5 Pro - memory, power supply, CPU, GPU. And this is without a major node improvement.

So yeah, you'd be looking at a $1200 console. Sony is likely only making a small premium on PS5 Pro ($50-100 maybe?) and that's with Sony having their own assembly and supply chains and expertise in design efficiency. They have a big advantage with respect to cost over Microsoft. And I doubt Microsoft is willing to subsidize hardware any longer with their current strategy.

Sounds more expensive than the $700 Pro GL with that.

If they want actual next gen hardware that will compete with PS6 they have to make something like this. CPU won't be much more expensive, PS5 Pro is using old as fuck tech, it's probably cheaper to put Zen 4/5 in there than ancient Z2. Memory needs more $ for sure.

PS6 will come 2027 so just one year later and it will have things I mentioned. So how much it will cost?

Tech is quite stagnant now, new nodes cost more than "old" ones. Price of components in 2026 will not be that much different than in 2027.

Both consoles will be expensive IF they want to have any next gen jump.

If it happens as I remain super skeptical it will be one of these scenarios.

1.What you are asking is the niche neo geo like more expensive option ie powerful but priced in a way it could no longer contend option.

2. A Steam Deck like portable option.

3. A weak/er streaming like device option.

4. Both 1 and 2 with both removing them from serious contention.

PS6 is 2028

It will have a new process vs tech in 2026.

It will also have architectural improvements to RT, AI/ML and frame gen.

Not with the way PS5 is selling and will sell when certain titles release.
Plus Sony will ride out the generation in a solid way like they always do to sell people the PS6.

So considering this I say 2028+

Honestly they should wait until 2030 for a good hardware bump, it still feels like we're barely out of crossgen period with only a handful of true currentgen games. They shouldn't worry about Xbox because it's doa already.

Is this a remake? I could've sworn there was already a MW4, but I don't play CoD games.

Xbox (2001) to Xbox 360 (2005) - 5 years

Xbox 360 (2005) to Xbox One (2014) - 9 years

Xbox One (2014) to Xbox Series (2020) - 6 years

Xbox Series (2020) to Xbox Next Gen (2026) - 6 years

Timing fits the previous gens, except the 360 which was an outlier and went too long in the end.
Why is it ALWAYS the green rats that can't math?

~7 years long gen is pretty typical for Sony.

?

No evidence of that so far. PS3->PS4 = 7 years, PS4->PS5 = 7 years

For Xbox 360->X1 = 8 years, X1->XSX = 7 years.

XSX->rumored next Xbox = 6 years.
Generations used to be six years

Cross gen was never as big as it is now, nor diminishing returns as well

It is only logical to expect longer generations

PS1-ps2 = 6
PS2-ps3 = 6
PS3-ps4 = 7
PS4-ps5 = 7

Logically next console will be 8

Microsoft probably should just kill Xbox Series hardware and release something new.
The hardware is fine as it is, its everything around it that's completely shit. Releasing a new console gen early with extra shinny graphics and no killer apps will be a disaster. Most sane people know this.

Series consoles did great with no exclusives didn't it? why would this vonsole be any different?

- Doors
- No minimap
- Overpowered claymores
- Run slower than a 500 pound man in a vat of melted butter
- Awful maps
- A million different attachments for each gun that do barely anything
- Ridiculous immersion-breaking bundles

Wild guest this is the xbox handheld like steam deck that MS already mentioned about they will release for next year.

Do people think, cod won't be developed for ps5, series X/s? Why? This means they finally will drop gen 8 consoles.

I never claimed to be sane.

There's no way Xbox is launching a new console next year unless it's a small cloud only device or a windows/xbox cloud handheld, but even that's very unlikely.

WZ is on life support and for the core I mainly play with its the cheaters that have run us off

Hate to admit it but we are back on PUBG

Its amazing how active PUBG still is

I am still on DMZ with a couple of friends. We are on different consoles. So can't switch off pc

It has changed the game though. The new meta is avoiding the operators with unlimited rpgs or rgl80s. Or taking them on when you are set for battle 👍😎

The Chinese and Russians on pcs with wall hacks, auto aim and no reloading are the worst. Especially in vondel these days 😬

I am still secretly hoping for DMZ 2, with the next modern warfare (with a consoles only toggle 🤞)

How is pubg for playing in small squads these days ? Does cross play work ?

When we play PUBG we are all on PC so not sure about cross play but for the small group I play with its still very enjoyable but the cheating there is still bad as well

They still ban like around 100k accounts per week yet cheaters are still everywhere
