Code Name S.T.E.A.M. |OT| They made Lincoln Force! Or: "Welcome to Earth!"

Are enemy turns still as slow as ever? If so, that's really a bummer.

I mean...at least do it something like Valkyria Chronicles and track their movements or something.

I think they were shown in some review footage? (possibly not on purpose?)

I could be way off, I remember a post mentioning it, and it's probably like 10 posts above me or something but gimme a minute to find it...

In the Game Trailer review, it's not too long though and no attention is brought to the character so I doubt Game Trailer realized they were spoiling it. You see the character for like a second with his in-game name label above him.

They're not slow. In fact, they only take 5 Namekian minutes!

Good job OP.

Hopefully Amazon delivers it tomorrow. Just preordered the game Monday. I will take a break from Mon Hunt 4 and play this.

I called a local retailer (I'm in Mexico) asking for this game, and I was told "that's an indie game, we don't sell it here ", lol. It's up for pre order on their site. I didn't know Nintendo was indie! :P

Once again, because I refuse to buy digital versions of physical games, I'll have to wait a bit. Can't wait! I loved the demo.

Maybe he was thinking of Steamworld Dig?

Very professional, in any case.

damn you best buy, ship my copy already! D:

Same situation here with bestbuy.ca. I have it through one of their pre-order sales for $28, but they haven't given me tracking information yet. It's okay.. a few more days to finish Majora's Mask before I jump into this.

I spoke too soon, guess it does use the Demo as the opening with a few minor changes in cutscenes. Oh well, luckily I didn't play through the demo too far for this reason.

I just played 4 maps and I absolutely love it. Enemy turn times don't bother me at all because they are almost always showing where the enemy is moving to.

It is a really unique take on the Xcom formula so far. Instead of using fog of war, it actually uses exactly what your characters can see. Very well executed as well.

I never picked up the fact that the eyes indicated a Red-Light/Green-Light element in the demo, now that I know that I'm finding things easier.

What do you mean?

Also, what do the options at save points mean? "Save and restore" and the other? I'm assuming the first option Is just a save point I can restore from...

restore health i think, either for the unit at the save point or all units

Cool little tidbit, by moving against signs in the background on walls you can read them. Some interesting lore building here (seems people are very cautious about the dangers of steam.)

And I just found one that references Bartleby the Scrivener by Melville. Wonder how many more of these little nods are in the game?

The eyes of the aliens determine if they've spotted you or not...if they're green, you're good, yellow means to be cautious, and red means DANGER ZONE.

As for the options, they're simple...you can save, save and restore on character, or save and restore all the characters.

So apparently there's a NOA's hosting a livestream tomorrow with some VAs from the game (WIl Wheaton, Adam Baldwin, Micheal Dorm, Jeremy Shada, and James Urbaniak.). Damn it all that I've got mentor duties tomorrow. >_<

...not really, I love mentoring engineering.

Adam Baldwin? The GG guy? Blech.

...Nintendo seriously hired Adam Baldwin? Fucking hell.

Since the game's been in production for two + years, and both Henry and Abraham Lincoln's VAs were in the earliest promo material, it's safe to say that decisions were made before the current mess.

Full VAs are out apparently btw.

Wil Wheaton and Adam Baldwin in the same room together... I'd love to be a fly-on-the-wall when those cameras aren't rolling...

EDIT: Sorry about the double post.

I'd like to imagine they can keep a professional attitude about a pre-standing commitment that they both signed onto...but I'm an idealist, so we'll see how the glass is by tomorrow

Or Sunday in my case.

Played the demo, not really my taste.

Not a fan of the art style, and the gameplay feels a bit convoluted and imprecise for a strategy game like this. I like the more strategic and calculated gameplay of Fire Emblem and Advance Wars more.

People of different ideologies and religions do it all the time. Inside the work place and outside of it. Why shouldn't it be different here? If they act like any average person on the job and keep it professional I don't see why this would be a powder keg situation.

See that's what I think as well. I think it's odd and maybe a tad concerning when people are actively wishing for a conflict to blow up on screen. Leave it to twitter or the blogs and out of what is essentially a press release.

GameXplain has this tweet;

Here

Could be wrong, but I'd be inclined to believe them.

I think they are just listing the voice cast not who's going to be on the stream. The previous tweet is, So we can finally talk about the cast in Code Name S.T.E.A.M. beyond Wil Wheaton!

Ah, misunderstanding on my part then.

FALSE ALARM: ONLY WIL WHEATON IS CONFIRMED FOR THE LIVESTREAM

People can all go back to their totally rational reactions...

I preordered this on Sunday, gonna pick it up on my way home from school.

Adam Baldwin's in this? Bleh. Hopefully it's a decent performance, but going by the reviews, there's not much to be said about the characterization.

If you StreetPass with someone, your mission stats are compared against those from the other player. Those will be displayed on a leaderboard. If you have the top score among your StreetPasses on a mission, you will get a score bonus (Medals).

Added StreetPass info.

I pre-ordered from gamestop. I don't pre-order many games there. Should they have already texted me to let me know I can come in this morning? Or should I wait for the text... in case they didn't get their shipment yet?

I'd like to go there right as they open at 10am. I'm off work and bored :P

I'm also gonna pick up a used copy of Dragon Quest IX while I'm there, they have it dirt cheap and I still need to play that.

Can't you just call them?

Yes but it takes time to get there, I was wanting to leave in time to be there when they open. Not happening I guess.

Oh that makes sense, I guess. Do they send those text updates before the store opens usually? If no one's in yet, who sends it out? :D

Well just because the game releases today doesn't mean they haven't had them sitting in the store for a while you know. I seem to recall getting txts from them in the past saying I could come in "tomorrow" to pick things up but I could be hallucinating.

Anyway, doesn't matter. I'll call them when they open in 4 hours.

I too haven't gotten anything from GameStop. Going to give it a few hours because maybe they won't send anything until they fully open.
