Code Violet, a "spiritual successor to Dino Crisis," won’t have a PC version to avoid nude mods

The devs at TeamKill Media announced on X that their next game, Code Violet, which they call a "spiritual successor" to Dino Crisis, won’t be coming to PC because they want to prevent vulgar mods for the characters and protec their artistic vision.

Honestly, this is the first time I’ve seen this as a reason not to release a game on PC

This might just be the stupidest tweet I read.

What are they gonna do against R34 fan art?

Also, they made this game.

Oh, no! What are we gonna do without this game?

Oh, those guys are the ones who made Quantum Error. Ain’t nobody asked for a PC version of this upcoming trash lmao. They do this shit to drum up controversy and generate publicity. Didn’t they also claim Quantum Error couldn’t run on PC or Xbox or some stupid shit like that?

I never understood how someone can call something a spiritual successor with anyone from the original team or even company that made the original?

It's just a game influenced by another (usually better) same. That's all.
I think it’s ok as if you are taking inspiration from those games

I think it’s worse to make sequels for well known successful series and no one from the original development team is there and they still claim it’s the same dev

Well damn, guess I'll have $__ to spend on someone else's games.

Like, just say it's exclusive and accept whatever heat comes from that. Now you just sound incredibly stupid.

5 days max until someone takes this generic piece of crap and adds some spiciness into it in one of "those" sites.

ps. that's if the game becomes any kind of success. if not, no one will even remember this 5 days after launch.

That’s interesting and kind of unexpected. I figure developers would care more for the sales and the success of their game than how their fictional characters or protagonists are portrayed.

How can they claim being a spiritual successor to Dino Crisis? They're a 4-man indie studio based in the US and unless any of them worked for Capcom 25 years ago then that's just a weird thing to say imo.
Came here to comment on this too: Spiritual successor is supposed to mean that at least some of the original devs are trying to create a game similar to a previous game, for example, Bloodstained being a Spiritual successor of Castlevania because Iga, the director behind beloved Castlevania titles, no longer works with Konami and Konami had no interest in making more Castlevania’s and Iga did.

This “Code Violet” game crap looks like someone saw Dino Crisis in a magazine and decided to add dinosaurs to some crappy game they were already making. So if anything, is a game inspired by Dino Crisis and other RE-like games. Damn, the main character looks like a botched Cate Blanchett. This game could use a PC Port, then maybe some talented modded could fix her face.

I hope the raptors will all be running around in gym short to preserve their modesty

these guys do this shit deliberate as a way to stoke some PR. They did the same thing for Quantum Error.

Marketing strategy. They’ll be saying some stuff about ‘woke’ soon enough.

Overwatch said people weren't allowed to make porn of their characters, and that game sold great! I bet it will work for us too!

Eh. Game looks like butt anyway. Characters are ugly and animations are rough. The modding community couldn’t do any worse here. But hey enjoy your next 40 on metacritic.

They left 💰 on table, just like that? Nah, I believe the game is so trash that neither it would sell on Steam nor Epic will pay for exclusivity rights.

Oh man, at least think about a better excuse, if you don’t want to make a PC version. I heard many excuses from different devs over the years, but that must be one of the stupidest.
