summer --> warm shower
winter --> cold shower

Your body responds accordingly. Warm shower triggers your cooling system, while a cold shower turns on the heating.

My showers normally range from the hot side of warm to wtf burning hot, and I've never been able to adjust to a cold shower, but I'm suddenly intrigued. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

You need to take cold showers or else you will never be able to produce babies and your penis will shrivel up and die. It said it right there in that study!

Morning - cold shower.
Night - warm shower.

You see unlike the rest of you pagan heathens, I was raised right.

Jesus hated all people who took two showers a day. He wrote about it in his book.

Are we talking uncomfortably cold or just lukewarm?

And does anyone know about hot showers drying out your hair? If I take a warm shower and end with a couple minutes of cold will it prevent my hair from drying out or will the damage already be done? Do I need to take a cold shower the whole time to get these benefits?

I usually take really hot showers then turn them cold at the end. Otherwise I'd never get out. It's also really refreshing that way.

That's exactly what I do.

Cold showers are the best. Sure it might give you the heebiejeebies straight off the bat, but you walk out of it like Superman.
This is true. I need to start up on them again. I did it for a few months in the summer and it was so much more refreshing.

Years ago when I lived in Florida, I didn't have hot water for about a week after a hurricane and was forced to take cold showers.
I got used to them and found I felt better in the morning.
I now love cold showers.

I live in Buffalo.

So during this time of year... HECK NO.
I'm in Rochester, so I know that feel bro. I even don't like to use the fan because it pulls all of the nice steam out. I still end with cold though.

I tried a cold shower today. Well sorta. Mostly it was warm, but I turned it to cold to rinse off in. Didn't really do much tbh, skin was still dry, didn't feel like superman either. I'll give another try again though, maybe I'll take the whole shower in cold water, it wasn't too bad.

Just took a shower. Used cool-ish water to wash my hair... rinsing the shampoo out was annoying, but not impossible. It was also more difficult to work my fingers through it, but not impossible. I can't imagine doing this with COLD water, it must be incredibly difficult to get rid of the soap/shampoo.

In the Spring and Summer I like to start off the shower warm (not hot), and end with cold. In the Fall and Winter...hot hot hot. I get cold easily. :( Anyone have tips for taking a cold shower in the winter?

so do people just shower in ONLY cold water?

Because i find it impossible to do. I got to have at least some hot water running to make it not ice cold

Then why do I catch a cold if I leave the window open duing a chilly night?
Those two events might be correlated sometimes, but one did not cause the other. Chilly weather "causes" colds because it leads to people being cooped up inside together, thus sharing more germs.

Your immune system gets lowered as your body gets colder, so youre more open for disease.
Not really. The effects of temperature on the immune system are minor, and might even be positive. Link: http://www.everydayhealth.com/cold-and-flu/colds-and-the-weather.aspx

I usually shower with mostly hot and a tad of cold. Tried mostly cold with a tad of hot just now. Not the best thing ever, but not awful. Will save on my electric bill at least. I'll consider making this a regular thing. Thanks, NeoGAF.

Always start my showers with cool/room temperature water, then get colder and colder and I wash. When you finally get the water to frigid cold, it is so refreshing. Also, coming out of a cold shower into the cold isn't as bad as coming out of a warm shower into the cold.

I was with a woman who took the hottest fucking showers, and I could not even be in them with her. It was fucking scalding. There is no need for that.

Ever since I moved in to my new house, I've been taking cold showers. I'm not a big fan right now since the winter season is about to kick in, but it does wake me up, and lately I've been feeling great afterwards.

...I should really get my water heater checked out.

I survived through 2 weeks of cold showers due to having our gas shut off during 40-50F degree weather. While at the time I sorta got used to it and dealt with it, it's not something I'd really ever do voluntarily, heh.

I used to take cold showers at my old apartment with shitty air conditioning. The summers got so ridiculously hot and humid. I also take cold showers sometimes after working out. I had no idea there were any benefits to doing it. Since it's not something I've ever really minded, I might start doing this more often.
