Colin Moriarty is leaving Kinda Funny Games.

This is really over that tweet that his own girlfriend wasn't even offended by?

Is it the hashtag that offended people? Or the fact that he was excited by spending a day alone?
Man, it's been said so many times over the last two pages it's not just about that "joke" and you still rush right towards it. Well done.

I know women took part in WW2, I only mentioned D-Day, not the entire war. All I'm saying is it's not fair to brand someone a sexist or a bigot just because they didn't include a minority or female in their game.
I took liberties, a game solely about D Day would be a bit weird I guess so I assumed you meant WWII at large. No they're not automatically a bigot, until they double down on bigotry as their reason for the exclusions. It happened a while back at some WRPG game, they said there were no black people in the game for historical reasons, when people pointed out that their historical reasons were bullshit they doubled down on bigotry.

It's cute to try and pretend this happened because of one tweet. It happened because of a long history of making offensive political comments like this. Over and and over. That tweet was just the final straw in his ability to have a viable career in the industry. He should have learned his lesson LOOOONG before that tweet.

This "industry" you speak of only exists as long as individuals are able to and encouraged to share their opinions about products, events, and other people to followers/subscribers.

Greg is being disingenuous in saying the tweet had nothing to do with it. It wasn't because of the tweet per se, but it was the straw that broke the camel's back, clearly.

Oh you're going to stand up for the neo nazi pedophile now? This should be fun.
No but I think it would've been much better if people take these people on by debating them not resorting to violence. That milo blokes a joke and can be pulled apart with ease, many have. We get nowhere as a group of people if we resort to violence.

I was about to go subscribe to them again, but then I remembered they don't cover PS4 Pro... or did they end up getting one?

Either way it would be great if PSILY continued in some form. Maybe with a guest each episode.

Do they still film from Greg and Colin's apartment or have they got their own studio now?

Bit awkward if they still film from the apartment.

Good for him, he doesn't belong there anyway.

A silly joke and everyone gets bent out of shape. I'd have left to with how Greg came out against him, demonstrating how much of a joke he is

People that are offended by something so silly don't deserve to have a platform.

I think for all of them that affair was a test of character, and one roundly failed by all parties.

Not surprising. Thought I could see the signs during the last holidays, started to look like two friends locked in a room for a long time (I know there's others in the background).

With that and politics being his big passion as per the Rubin Report it's probably best. Not fair on Greg if subs were actually falling or being side-tracked by political views.

Sad to hear this as Colin was the best thing about Kinda Funny IMO, the only reason I watched. I wish him all the best for the future. Hope the snipers are satisfied now.

People can feel however they want about Colin. It's their right. I personally enjoyed his stuff, but I get why people don't or wouldn't.

However, the one thing about society today that I hate is the "attack" mentality people have. When someone does or says something stupid, it's not enough to just scold them. People have to destroy them. Mercilessly. They wanna taste blood. Getting reprimanded is no longer just enough, people want to see their lives ripped apart piece by piece until nothing is left.

Since that tweet Colin put out, his apology wasn't enough. The amount of viciousness I saw about the guy is way over the top. It's out of control, man, and it's a shame.

Colin was agenda-driven at times, stubborn, and irritating at times, but I think he was a genuinely good dude. He was flawed like anyone else, and I think this is a shame. Got no hate in my heart for the guy. Wish him the best.

This "industry" you speak of only exists as long as individuals are able to and encouraged to share their opinions about products, events, and other people to followers/subscribers.

His anti-diversity views have no place in this industry or fandom. Nationalistic views often pushed by the alt-right have no place in this industry.

This is an industry and fandom that thankful embraces diversity and progressive ideals. Colin's views were counter to this and not constructive. There a reason why GamerGate has been pushed back against so strongly.

On Glenn Beck, He really doubled down on his "joke" tweet about his girl on International Women's Day. He cannot believe that people were offended by that. He even said "Nobody was offended by that joke, nobody" and went on to say that people just used it as an opportunity to attack him for not thinking the way they do.

smh

Bit awkward if they still film from the apartment.

Why? Doesn't seem like the guys have fallen out. They're just displaying some sadness and emotions the journey as they know it is coming to an end.

Lol Greg realizing that the Polygon headline is actually true. "We can say that the Polygon article is factually wrong..."

"Kinda Funny co-founder Colin Moriarty quits after sexist tweet."

"Oh well that is actually what happened."

Greg is being disingenuous in saying the tweet had nothing to do with it. It wasn't because of the tweet per se, but it was the straw that broke the camel's back, clearly.

Seems more like the Glenn Beck appearance was the straw that broke the camel's back. The tweet was just a heap of straw that added to the camel's burden before it.

So yeah, this basically means I'm done with both Colin and KF. We'll see how I feel later on, but this is just ridiculous.

I found the reaction to the joke overblown, and Colin's reaction to that reaction seems even worse. I don't know how I would react in such a situation, but I feel like I learned what not to do from this, should anything similar ever happen to me.

This "industry" you speak of only exists as long as individuals are able to and encouraged to share their opinions about products, events, and other people to followers/subscribers.

They are free. He did share didn't he?
Doesn't mean you're shielded from everything else. Freedom of speech is not protection of criticism as some people so eagerly want to mix up.
And since all these freedoms do exists this industry will continue to exist as well. But sure you can call me back if tomorrow the industry collapses because people are scared for being persecuted for having shitty opinions.

Ah, peace and quiet.

His tweet really was not sexist at all.

Invoking a stereotype commonly applied to a gender is kind of the definition of sexist. It's not the worst thing that a man has ever said about the opposite sex, but it exists on that spectrum.

The day on which it was made kind of magnifies the jackassery of it, though.

Eh, if the tweet hadn't happened, he wouldn't be leaving right now, maybe down the line but not yet. If he gets a job on the blaze next week, I retract this post lol.

I'm not sure if I'm surprised. As a founding member of Kinda Funny, what he says sticks to the image of the company, which isn't fair to the rest of the guys. Their YouTube comments are some of the tamest that I have ever seen, but they have been bombarded for the past week now. It blew up all over the gaming side of the Internet, which has obviously affected the whole team.

I don't agree with most of Colin's opinions, and they never appeared that vocal (to my knowledge) until Kinda Funny got off the ground. I don't use Twitter, so I don't follow people that closely, and honestly would have been entirely oblivious to the Twitter drama if I didn't follow GAF. The political topics on GoG were some of the weakest since there was never another person around to challenge Colin, and he seemed to become more apathetic with the Gamecast.

I loved his chemistry with Greg on Beyond and PSILY, and he had some great moments and input with various topics. Having watched/listened to him and Greg for a few years, I'll admit that I'll miss him, but for the business, this is for the best. Once KF get re-adjusted, I'd love to see Jared Petty join the KF crew, but since he's with EA and doing his own thing with PFoS, I wouldn't mind Vince Ingenito since he's looking for work now.

Just look at the crazy shit that's going on of late, people smashing up a college because of a speaker, the left is becoming less and less what they should stand for.

Since when are a bunch of anarchist with no representation in national politics from the Pacific Northwest "the left"?

We can play this game though like a Chappelle skit. The right gets Timothy McVeigh!

I liked and respected the guy when it came to gaming and I'll miss him on their KF games content. Shame he seemed to go out of his way just to piss people off for the sake of personal amusement and in the end it hurt the company. It's probably for the best of both parties. I'm guessing they bring in someone from IGN to replace him.

One of the most lauded events in US history, The Boston Tea Party, was about breaking and entering, trespassing, destruction of property and aggressively protesting. It's American as Apple pie

That clickbait title. FUCK

That is not what clickbait is. "You won't believe why Colian Moriarty quit Kinda Funny!" would be clickbait because it would make you click on the article now because you want to know more about the subject that has been shortly described in the headline but instead because you want to knoww hat the subject even it. Call it misleading (even though it's not). But "clickbait" is such an inredibly overused, meaningless word at this point.

Well, I guess good for Kinda Funny, because they no longer have to worry about their loose cannon. But this:

I simply want to reconnect with what’s most important to me. Politics, history, philosophy. Reading books. Talking about things I feel are most impactful and essential for a person like me.

Basically sounds like he's going to pivot full-time into self-styled "alt-ri8ght" advocacy/writing/etc.

Sounds like the typical alt-right bullshit, oh he reads so many books, his opinion is definitely well informed. Go fuck yourself notaxation.
