Some of y'all, here's a thought experiment.

Have someone like Colin, abrasive, often dismissive of criticism, making crude jokes over social media and in general being a poor spokesman for your business, and put him in a 'real world' occupation.

Are any of you surprised if he gets let go then?

Holy god no. Any politically neutral business would call him a risk for 10% of what he's publicly stated.

I miss Bish

We all do.

I would've thought the same thing about another popular media personality but we decided to make him POTUS.

but think of the poor white men.

so sad. so oppressed. we will never truly know their suffering.

oh wait

Hey, fuck off. White guys only make 100 cents for each dollar they earn. Do you know how hard that is? Can you understand the pressure of being disproportionately represented in positions of power and influence? Their struggle is considerable. Can you even imagine what it's like to look at the highest office in America and realize that only 44 out of 45 people to hold it have looked like you? The burden is simply tremendous.

Who is that prominent KF community member who had a small podcast and was super involved in a lot of KF stuff? Sean something? Wonder if they can bring him on board for something now that there is more room on staff.

Why am I not surprised? Anything that isn't completely PC has to be "alt right".

Sasuga Gaf.

It is the definition of clickbait. Inserting something into the title for increased views when that insertion gives the wrong impression of the true meat of the subject matter.

What is Colin to you then? He's obviously conservative. Intensely so. And the rest of his rhetoric skews him disturbingly towards what we consider "alt-right".

You can't trivialize his behavior. It wasn't merely one insensitive tweet, an offhanded joke amongst friends, or just not "completely PC".

Visual aid for some people.

I'm thinking Vince from IGN, but would like them to bring on a permanent female presence or, if I'm dreaming. someone like Clements, Goldfarb or Altano.

I think Altano really likes working with Scoville, so unless they brought on both, I don't see either leaving IGN.

Goldfarb I could see. Marty would be a good fit too.

I might actually check out KF content now.

I really just find Colin insufferable. It isn't even really his politics, it is how he displays them. He just comes across as a smart aleck asshole, I can't stand him at all.

Don't know if this was posted, but David Rubin replied to his resignition.

Onto the next adventure, my friend. This is just the beginning...

I mean we all know he's headed directly into the political direction, but maybe David is tied into it?

I think Altano really likes working with Scoville, so unless they brought on both, I don't see either leaving IGN.

Goldfarb I could see. Marty would be a good fit too.

You're probably right on Max and Brian. Bring em both on then! I also like Marty and think that would be good. I think Vince is the most realistic option though.

The problem isn't that he made a stupid, rude, and offensive joke, it's that his response to the fact that many in his fanbase were offended by said joke, specifically it's timing, was one of vitriol and playing the victim. He didn't apologize, he doubled down and insulted his own fanbase.
To the surprise of no one. His shit got old, real quick.

People respond to my question with white men and now im the one who brings in white men.

Way to turn the things around.

Should have expected this that people gonna jump on this and read their own interpretation into it.

My mistake

I don't really have an opinion on Colin, never watch KF Games and didn't know about him until the internet got it's jimmies rustled for several days because of a couple of twitter posts he made.

Even if he is an asshole, a "good riddance" attitude to someone leaving is pretty trashy.
God forbid people are happy they won't have to suffer his at times bigoted rhetoric anymore! If I'm an asshole, so be it. Good riddance.

If you don't understand the power dynamics in play between men and women you're going to post out of ignorance. That's what you're doing. You shouldn't be surprised when people call you out on it. Your post also had an air of smugness about it. You had a preconceived answer and played your hand instantly. No one is going to take you seriously when you meld all of them together in a shitty thoughtless post that brings as much content to this thread as a plastic bag hitting it on the way past

I was thinking about where Colin will go after this...

Then I started wondering how long it will take for a conservative-leaning major gaming site to pop up (bigger than those gamergate rags). I feel it's inevitable.

Yeah he could end up making a TON of money if he plays it right

I will just do my best to pretend he doesn't exist

Colin always had a lot to say but very rarely listened

A classic example of the privilege gamer who grew up in the nineties and we are trying to move passed

He clearly wasn't enjoying it much any more. For the long passed good time I wish him future success unless he does go into politics in which case I wish him failure

I didn't always agree with him but I still enjoyed listening to his views on games, which I will miss.
I am sure Colin will find great oppurtunities on his new adventure. I wish him all the best.

Agenda? Holy shit some people here.

Its not my problem people need to respond to my question with the "Why? Its White Men Day everyday"

I just have the opinion that a joke is a joke and everybody should be able make on each equally no matter the gender.

So, how do we feel regarding "jokes" about how lazy black people are? Or how if you love it up the ass, you must be gay? Or about how a women's place is in the home? It's just a joke, after all! Ha ha ha ha it's so funny! Jokes! No harm can possibly come from them! It's not like a joke can be a tool used to reinforce racist, bigoted, and sexist social norms! It can't possibly be that group of people the joke is making fun of respond with ire because the joke is part of a cycle of systemic oppression that has been perpetuated their entire lives? Stop. Being. so. sensitive. right? Right?

Most of the Americans on the Internet seemingly can't take this joke yet allowed Trump to be elected.

That's some funny shit from the outside.

Technically speaking Trump lost the popular vote so.... almost 3 million votes of difference but you know how mess up is the American voting system.

I just have the opinion that a joke is a joke and everybody should be able make on each equally no matter the gender.

You're free to keep that opinion and to make such jokes if you choose to. It should not shield you from the consequences of doing so though.

But as a person of Moriarty's standing with an online following, meaning he's not exactly being a private figure, he elected to make what is indisputably a sexist joke because its premise only works on the one day of the year when women and their contributions are recognised and celebrated, THEN played victim the moment he encountered backlash for it. What a warrior.

So sure, someone can make their jokes. Just be prepared to face flak for it when people justifiably take issue with sexism, both full flavoured and diet.

You really shouldn't be saying that when you are completely unaware of his work beyond a tweet.

Dude my post was completely irrelevant to why he was leaving. It was merely commenting about the gross reaction to the tweet. If it was treated as harmless it wouldn't have nearly been as influential as it is now. The two issues (him leaving and the tweet) are separate, though I can see the argument that the tweet is but one of many greater clashes between Colin and the rest of KF.

Nope. Nice try though.

Why should people treat it as harmless if they did not believe it was harmless? Colin is all about free speech, right? So using a social media platform (just like he does so often) why the fuck can't people also express when he says something they don't like? This is where this bullshit attitude comes from. People aren't SJWs, or cucks, or PC culture, what they are is simply marginalized groups speaking up where they didn't in the past, and it rubs people like you and Colin the wrong way. Call it what it is. You want to be able to say whatever you want about whoever you want with no repercussions. Sorry, snowflake, the world doesn't work that way.

I really just find Colin insufferable. It isn't even really his politics, it is how he displays them. He just comes across as a smart aleck asshole, I can't stand him at all.

Probably important to note, that if your political views were different, nearly everyone in the industry would come off as displaying their political views like a smart aleck asshole.

Just food for thought.

He is merely conservative. Not alt right in the slightest. No one has submitted any evidence of the sort asides from a random stupid joke that the majority of males in the world, left or right, have probably stated.

I think the issue is you are taking the joke out of proportion rather than me trivializing it.

I just read that this is probably due to a joke he tweeted?! A bad joke is still a joke and not meant to be taken seriously.

He always looked miserable anyway. Greg will be fine I reckon. he's the one out there hosting shows and panels and such in the first place.

Y'know, you'd think this...but from his radio appearance with Glenn beck earlier today:

Moriarty: No one's offended by my joke. I don't believe that. They just see an opportunity to take [me] down. Beck: "Yep."

What a genuinely shitty human being.

The fact that you continually try to downplay at as just a joke blatantly shows that you're trivializing it. Do I need to go scroll through his twitter for 10 minutes to find an assortment of his rhetoric that aligns nicely with alt-right ideologies for you?
