The only thing I feel Nintendo gets a pass on is graphics capabilities. Many people often test a low powered Nintendo system as if "the graphics aren't what's important. It's the gameplay that matters." But I don't feel people treat the PS4 or Xbox One as graphics machines where gameplay doesn't matter. Nintendo games do often have great art design and aren't bad looking games, but their hardware clearly holds back certain aspects.

Even then, Nintendo only gets a pass in the critical & hardcore gaming sphere. Nintendo absolutely pays the price for having underpowered hardware in the market.

I was really looking forward to hearing what he had to say about zelda, but all he did was shit on it compared to horizon. They are pretty different games apart from certain similarities. I think thats what kind of annoyed me about him even though i loved the work him and greg put out. As much as he would bemone the stagnation of games and new ways to play. When games that were genuinley trying interesting mechanics like zelda, the last guardian, or gravity rush would come out he would hardly give it the time of day, hell tlg and gr were ps exclusives and he barely said anything about them.

It seems like the only things he actually enjoyed were shooters, the more safe ps exclusives (the ones that adhered to similar and safe western tropes, not bemoning the quality of the games) and jrpgs, which is fine everyone is allowed to have their prefferences, but dont pretend you want to see zelda change than hardly give botw, the biggest change up for that series in nearly 20 years a hand wave away. I swear hes been talking up wanting the open world zelda and wanting that series to change for years now than when it does he has next to nothing to say about it.

If there's one thing I think we can all agree on with Colin, is that he's fucking terrible at predicting the success of videogame consoles.

I think we all remember his article about the Vita being geared to be a massive success, but more recently with the Switch he's stated time and time again that there was little-to-no interest in it and that it would sell 15-20 million units over it's lifespan.

This is what happens when you're only capable of projecting your own feelings on to other people and are incapable of understanding alternate points of view, even when they are the majority.

Out of everyone involved in his "YouTube personality week" it's Colin everyone is still talking about (even posters in here saying they won't watch it will rely on others to watch it to then discuss whatever happens on it...). So, Rubin riding that popularity, and yeah, maybe they have ended up friends. Q&A might have one or two interesting questions if it's not just all full of "Colin you are a cunt" and "Colin you are the best person ever". It's YouTube comments though, so set expectations to 0.1%.

Pretty sure he is one of those guys hurt and confused by the existence of alternative gaming platforms. It's just Colin has an extreme case of confirmation bias, he never gives a game a chance if he made up his mind, he didn't give The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, or Bloodborne a chance, and thinks UC4 is the best PS4 game, despite the prior 3 being significantly better than UC4 (IMO of course).

He just doesn't play more than 2-3 games every year, and everything else that year is trash.

It's funny how much youtuber and video game culture mirror each other...

Video Game culture wants games to have all the glory of being held up as art without any of the responsibility of dealing with criticism that comes with it (and I don't mean criticism of the gameplay and graphics)

They want to say but it's art and also say come on it's just a video game.

Youtubers want all the glory and benefits of being a celebrity without nay of the responsibility of dealing with criticism that comes with it.

They want to be famous but also claim they're just some nobody youtuber when they get criticized in mainstream press...

It's probably why a lot of Youtuber Gamers end up so toxic... There is, and we have to admit it, an immaturity in both "communities"
