College books online

Had a lot of problems with various Half.com sellers.. People not having stuff in stock and taking three-four weeks to deliver.

As a person who tried this route last year...don't do it.

I ordered six books I needed. Four of them arrived and was a great transaction. The other two was a mess. I got one back that was the wrong edition. The website and description clearly stated it was the version I wanted. The other one was in Spanish and there was nothing in the site or description to make me believe it was Spanish. Also, the book was in shambles where the description said, "slightly worn."

There was about 10 days until I went back up to school and I e-mailed the two defective books that they weren't what I ordered and I want my money back. I even offered to send back the shit books to them at no additional cost to them. No e-mail reply. With no time, I complained to Amazon and a couple days later, I got a profanity laden e-mail who sold me the Spanish book about how "fuckers like me" are ruining Amazon. I was credited my money. I asked if they wanted the book back, to which I was given a blunt reply, 'Fuck off.' How nice.

The other book wasn't like that but it was a pain in the ass. Long story short, I got my money back after about 6 weeks of BS. The seller tried to postpone it as much as possible and after threatening to contact Amazon again, I got my money back but he demanded he get back his book right away. I did and that was that.

Which is funny because I must have made about 200+ online transactions via Amazon and the books were the only two to give me problems.

I just ordered my accounting book for this semester from amazon. Cost: $0.05 ! The list price is like 95$! Now to see if it comes in a timely manner

Amazon seems like a good place, though I'm sure every once in awhile you'll get someone who sends you something messed up (like the above). I've ordered from them a couple of times and it seems worth it so far. Definitely much better than paying obnoxious amounts at the college bookstore

???

I just ordered 5 books for a total less then than 30 bucks on half.com last night.
The total for them at my college bookstore? ~215 USD.

I half.com everything I purchase, and even though my textbooks will sometimes be 5 editions off :lol

Seems to me that if you're gonna buy online, you might as well do Amazon and help GAF out a bit, right? Not to be the corporate whore here or anything, but if you're gonna be spending about the same amount anyways, what's the harm with throwin some bones towards gaf just by shopping at amazon?

someone needs to make a cheapassbooks site for cheap textbooks. i just bought my books for about $300 last week but im going to do some hunting to find cheaper books before the return date

I always bought my textbooks via Half.com during my undergrad and graduate years, never had a problem. The prices we're always much lower than what the bookstore wanted, but it sounds like everyone's experience has been different.

Half.com is the best, never had any problems and i have been using it for about 4 years. My campus bookstore is a total rip off. I bought a finance book for $150 last semester, when i tried to sell it back to them, they offered me $20 and then they will sell tha same book for $115 :lol .

I've always done the bookstore in the past, but I'm fed up with the prices and I'm going to try Amazon through GAF this year. Hopefully everything will pan out.

Go through Barnes & Noble's used text book section. They have great prices and the books are in excellent condition with most of the ones I ever got was in mint condition. I got one hardback where the cover wouldn't even stay open cuz the spine was so tight. I think they only take back really good condition books to sell so it's a great place to get stuff at great prices. Otherwise, new books are hard to get cheap now online.

ill go amazon through gaf... thanks a lot for your help guys. seems useful to help out gaf while buying books im going to need anyways.

There was a few of those when I was in school, but it's been like 8 years, so I don't think I can remember those search engines. It's pretty genius stuff, affiliate linked, search engine, etc...

EDIT - I remember dropping $100 for an accounting book, AUTHORED BY MY PROFESSOR. Fucking scam... Where the fuck is the SEC when we need them

That sucks. At my school, sometimes they'll give you a good deal. I paid $95 for a book and the school gave me $60 back for it. Only for just new editions that were released.
