College Football 2017 Offseason: We're Not a Football School Anyway

Lol Saturday Down South predicts Florida will lose to Kentucky this year.

Their reasoning? "This year is as good as any." That, of course, is not reasoning - it's just a statement that can be made about any team beating any other team any year.

Look, Kentucky will NEVER beat Florida. Ok? Never. Like ever ever. I don't know exactly what happened and which secret deals were made between the schools to ensure this but it is what it is.

Let's stop saying Kentucky will beat Florida every year because "it's about time." It's not about time. It will never be about time.

So I completely forgot that the Gatas play Michigan at JerryWorld in a few weeks. I am really upset that I will be in town for that mess. If only it was the week after - I'll actually be out of town.

Kentucky beat Louisville last year, didn't they? *shrug* stranger things have happened. Not Texas-losing-to-Kansas strange, bu-...oh, wait.

Michigan gonna lose two games in a row to a Florida team.

Be interesting to see how that effects recruiting if that happens.

#Gators announce seven players suspended for opener: Callaway, Telfort, K. Davis, Desir-Jones, Jordan Smith, Houston and Ventrell Miller

No, I didn't know that. He's still y'all best player, though, right?
Best player? Sure but the world isn't ending for us.

I mean....maybe?

I don't harbor the same amount of respect for Michigan as others do, but even I wouldn't compare them to 2016* SC or UGA.

Maybe it's fine. My gut tells me y'all still win, I just don't know that this doesn't effect the game at all.

EDIT: *put 2015 for some weird reason

Losing him sucks and will definitely have an impact on the Michigan game, but I don't know if he was going to make it through the season anyway. We did have a hyped up transfer WR last year who got injured before the first game last year, so it'll be interesting to see how he does.

We've got a lot of new talent in the WR position, so I'm hoping someone else can come out and shine. Far more worried about our QB situation and how that's gonna shake out. We've also lost a bunch of talent on defense.

http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...rs-avoided-random-drug-testing-according-book

Baylor regents had no idea that the university wasn't randomly drug testing its student-athletes until the Philadelphia law firm the school hired to examine how it handled allegations of sexual assault by students, including football players, turned up the issue. Already reeling from bad publicity around the mishandling of sexual assault cases, the lack of drug testing was another indicator of just how insular the football program had been under former coach Art Briles.

If only there were an NCAA policy that discouraged such situations. Something to punish institutions for lacking control over their athletic programs or something.

The fact that the AD got a job (even if its Liberty) is fucking disgusting.

Of course a Christian school hired him. OF COURSE.

I mean at this point the hypocrisy of the religious right in this country doesn't surprise me at all but god damn.

This also supports the narrative that Christian schools basically turn a blind eye to sexual assault complaints.

Fucking pathetic.

Or they blame the women for being temptresses and the men are the real victims.

Falwell has been trying to turn them into an athletic power for years. Not surprising he would hire the dude that did the same for Baylor, even if he left a trail of bodies on the way.

I'm shocked they didn't hire Briles.

Last Chance U's John Franklin III transfers again from Auburn to FAU.

I can't help but laugh.

That means he went from FSU-EMCC-AUBURN-FAU.

Wow.

That's so weird. He's just doing this? Could it be because the Stidham announcement? I thought he was set to play WR. He needs to accept he's not a QB, but I guess he figures Kiffin can work some kind of magic. Smh.

Think it's implied he was not near the top of Auburn's "vaulted" WR corp.

Yoooooooo

Although school officials had previously declined to characterize the alleged misconduct, Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork said in response to questions from the Journal about Freeze’s travel that the university’s investigation uncovered “calls of a similar nature” over the course of several years, often matching up with travel logs showing the coach’s use of the school plane. The school said it examined his travel logs from peak recruiting times—often November, December and January—when Freeze would travel out of state, using the school plane and other public resources.

“When we say pattern, we are describing other phone numbers that when you Google them pull up similar type websites, services, however you would describe them,” Bjork said. “We took action swiftly.”

When the school presented its findings to Freeze, the coach admitted his misconduct and agreed to resign, school officials said.
