College Football Week 15 - ARMY versus NAVY

He is a bum slayer, that's why. He can pound the bad teams, but going up against good competition and he struggles. His terrible game day management shows up against decent teams. For example, when he called three timeouts last season in a tie game at Michigan State, when Mich State had the ball near midfield. Allowed Mich State to win in regulation on that hail mary pass versus going to OT when the Badgers had all the momentum. Then in the Rose Bowl wasting all those time outs in the 3rd quarter when they could have used them to tie the game at the end.

He doesn't have a good record against winning teams, nor in Bowl games. I don't know how he plans to change this going into the SEC West.

Does he have a motorcycle? And already has the hot, young wife. So he'll be safe for two to three years at least

UT just needs to get rid of its football program. Tear down Neyland Stadium and put up a new parking garage.

This made me think of a question, what do all of your favorite teams do with the stadiums on non gamedays?

For instance I know at Washington they use it as a parking garage. At Ohio state is used to house dorms now it has a bunch of psychology stuff as well as the band center.

We will have a great defense next year. Not as good as this year though. Unless the offense manages to be a lot better and not keep the defense on the field 70% of the game.

Our offense is scoring too quickly and puts the defense on the field for quite a bit. And we lose a lot on defense to the NFL this year. Defense will be an unknown quantity going into next year while playing a lot of guys that were backups. I think we're returning 4-5 starters on defense, everybody else will either be former backups or freshmen.

Butch Jones is a good coach, but he isn't going to be able to turn Tennessee around in one year. I don't think he'll have the time to do it as his name isn't big enough to survive a losing season in win now Tennessee.

I figure Murray will be gone, and I think T. King is a Senior too, right? Well, you'll have RB's.

Hows that Backup Freshman QB Gary mentioned?

Dooley beat Jones by 22 the year they won a share of the Big East and we lost to UK.

Let the Gruden rumors begin.

Murray is a question mark.. Probably gone since the QB's coming out are pretty bad and he has a good shot at getting drafted. Only reason he comes back is if he wants to try to exorcise his inner demons and get a championship. King is a senior so he's gone. Our receivers will be as deep or moreso than this year. Malcolm Mitchell will be the #1 receiver, or possibly Michael Bennett. Chris Conley, Rhett McGowan and Justin Scott-Wesley are the next ones in that order. Some true freshmen coming in that are an unknown quantity. Offensive line is all back and should be better than this year, though they were a lot better than I expected.

The backup freshman QB, Christian Lemay, is probably not going to play, IMO. He doesn't know the playbook and was held out most of the time this year in mop-up time in favor of a walk-on QB. If he does learn the playbook, he could be a good dual-threat QB. He is very fast, and his arm is pretty good. Footwork is shitty. Some have thrown out the option of putting Marshall, Gurley and him in the game to run a triple option sometimes. That would be very hard to defend. But if Murray leaves, it's probably Hutson Mason's job. Message board geniuses have always raved about him but he's been on the same exact track as Murray so he was redshirted this year and will play next year as a senior if Murray doesn't come back. If Murray comes back, Mason will have never really seen the field other than mop-up duty last year. From there, it's probably Brice Ramsey's show to run. He's signing today and enrolling in January. He's a prototypical pro-style QB that Richt tends to favor. 6'3" kid, but will have to learn the playbook.

This is dumb reasoning. If you go by that, Jones went 2-1 vs Strong and his only loss was in OT, but I bet no UT fan would be like "OMG Charlie Strong he lost to Butch Jones smh!!" if they lured Strong away.

Well at least this guy has a winning record as a head coach, that's more than could be said for Dooley when we hired him.

The first sentence was a joke. The second wasn't. Something is seriously wrong with our Administration, I'm siding with the camp saying we need to clean house, the ineptitude up top is absolutely astounding at this point. Seriously, might as well just burn it down at this point. Maybe we can be the first SEC school to field a men's soccer team.

Oh Tennessee, great job on hiring someone that was riding Brian Kelly's coat tail before he left for ND.

Tenn will have 5 wins next year.

I'm just now thinking: I should have put an arrow, or circled the towel. Like it's the only thing I'm really sad to see go ;P

But I've already posted it in places.

I'm not going to be sad to see his "money in a brown bag" recruiting go. Hopefully he ends up outside of the conference. The towel was amusing though. I mean, the guy's just a caricature on the sideline. He was a joke.

Lonestar or Fozzy, hear anything on Laremy Tunsil? Supposed to be between Bama and UGA, and heard was going to sign today. He said he was rooting for Georgia in the SECCG, so I'd guess that we're probably in the lead there. Hoping we are.

Who knows, I'm more interested in Robert Foster, myself. Was pulling for Alabama over UGA (it's between Alabama and Pitt). Pitt's a "near home" choice, and Alabama's the Prestige choice. Him and Amari Cooper on the field at the same time :O Hell, Him, Cooper and Black could be an outstanding starting 3 (nevermind the other couple of 4 star WR's).

Never cared much for Arkansas, but I also never understood the general ignorance of their past accomplishments. They were a very solid team in the 60's thru to the 80's. They just had a really bad 90's and been average to ok in the last decade.

Yeah he looks like a good pickup. I'm interested in a 6'5" receiver we have coming in. Could be a nice compliment to Michael Bennett and his size, along with Mitchell's ability to haul in anything and make plays after the catch.

Reuben Foster just decommited from Auburn.

I'd expect him to be at UGA any second now. Hope you guy's don't give him any free tattoo laser removals. NCAA won't stand for that.

They asked him about his tattoo and his response was he likes wearing sleeves. I expect him to go to UGA too. Honestly, I'm not sure if we want him if he was that close to Taylor. Definitely a good athlete but I hope he doesn't come with baggage. We don't need him that badly, not at linebacker.

All of that baggage and his desire to go to that Auburn team: I forsee a major bust in his future. Only Kirby Smart could push him back into the light. :p

Butch Jones Contract: $18M over 6 years
Was promised an additional $3M/yr for his staff.

No link, but that's what people are saying. So not only a coach that the fans hate, but they're giving him $3 million a year!

I convinced myself that the AD didn't want to be outdone so once coaches got a good thing going he ran them off. Once Hatfield split shit went downhill. Houston Nutt was his undoing and they finally forced him out. Jeff Long seems to know what he is doing even though a majority of the fanbase hates him because he is a "carpetbagger."

That's a hell of a compensation packet for the, what, 9 coaches you can hire?

Haha no doubt. I guess whatever he was involved with at Auburn would potentially only hurt Auburn anyway, so I guess let him come if he wants. I just hope he's not more drama than he's worth.

mre: have you kept up with the recruiting any, specifically the RB's?

Do you even think it's possible to keep Tenpenny, D. Henry, and Tyren Jones, when you know that Yeldon's got 2 more years, and Drake/Fowler/Dee Hart are back there? Factor in BB at Arkansas, I imagine they'll push to switch over Tenpenny. Could be a major get for them, since he'd fit in with that Wincy-type offense.

Shit, I just noticed that UGA and A&M have over 30 commits so far this year. There goes that "We Don't Oversign" Mark Richt!

Someone needs to give us the important number. What's his buyout? And since he has been hired and no one has bought me my shirt yet I am going to choose my new team.

I'd send you one, but I gotta figure you wouldn't want to root for Coastal Carolina.

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
Navy by 7.

Come on Colorado. Find a damn coach.

Everyone thought it would happen, and though it's not official, sounds like Dee Liner is also de-committing from Auburn.

Ok I need to be more specific I am not king to cheer for another SEC school. And they can't be in the top 25. So far the leading candidate is Washington. I'll figure it out over lunch.
