That would be an intriguing matchup. The ineptitude would be awesome to watch.

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
Barrett Jones won the Rimington.

Luke Joekel (Aggie) won the Outland.

Jonathan Banks (MSU) won the Thorpe.

Lonestar alongside SB Nation trolling hard. That Wanny image oh my god hahahaha.

Also, interesting write up on the entire Bielema saga:

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/12...ed-by-ambition-history-and-very-subtle-hints/

Too lengthy to quote. Worth reading.

Interesting article. I can't blame him for wanting to have more money to spend and a more supportive school, but if he thinks Arkansas fans aren't going to turn on him at the first sign of mediocrity or the program regressing, he should go back to Wisconsin. They will have no patience for that.

That game was at the beginning of the season when Ball had suffered a concussion and missed most of practice and just before the offensive line coach was fired. I think that when you look at the overall stats you also need to consider that Wisconsin's passing game is 115th in the nation, so teams just loaded the box all day against Ball.

I think when you look at ASU's record this year you need to understand that we sucked so teams kept winning against us. Otherwise we'd be undefeated.

Barner tripled Ball's output with an abdominal strain and only playing 2 1/2 quarters?

This is how dumb I am, not only did I completely forget Bielema was an assistant coach at Iowa, I forgot he played there while I was there. Alcohol's a hell of a bitch.

Nitpicking a minor part of that article, Ferentz doesn't get a pass because of the buyout, he gets it because he's a damn fine coach who's done at lot more than would be expected at Iowa which doesn't have the recruiting advantage of being a traditional power (Neb, tOSU, Mich) or location (the entire SEC, minus Mizzou.) Ferentz .571 winning percentage includes a disastrous first two years after Fry's decline left the cupboard pretty bare. Since then, he's had just 2 losing seasons and 4 10+ win seasons. If next year is a repeat of this season, yeah, he might be in trouble, but for now the fanbase is still behind him. Even then, I doubt many other coaches would do much better, it'd probably just be a repeat of Bowlsby getting rid of Dr. Tom Davis for Steve Alford.

Didn't watch any of this, but I'm pissed Banks won it, simply because we finally got the MSU crew to understand that Banks wasn't as good as Millner. Banks got burnt more than a few times this season.

Search committee? Barry Alvarez don't need no stinking search committee.

"I won't use a search committee," Alvarez said Thursday. "Most search committees use me."

Boom! And we're off and running.

On the next coach: "Bret used my game plan to win. The coach I hire will have to understand who we are and how we go about our business."

Such a boss. And....!

Alvarez said he won't pursue former Badgers offensive coordinator Paul Chryst, but he told "The Dan Patrick Show" following the news conference that he might reach out to Boise State's Chris Petersen. He'll have to manage the search while also overseeing the football program.

Do it, Barry. Who wants to coach in the Big East, anyway.

Yeah, Notre Dame fans are disgusting. (Looked at the comments on the Seeburg article)

Go Alabama.

Even the tree killers aren't as bad as they are.

There is quite a bit of misinformation regarding that story. But the fact is someone committed suicide after being inappropriately touched. It'spretty horrible but there was found to be nothing prosecutable about it. Sexual assault of all kinds is a huge problem on college campuses and more should be done to prevent it. /2cents

Just like there was no case brought up at Penn State.

Maybe there was nothing wrong at ND, but the comments by ND supporters within that article and the comments below scream slut shaming.

The author of the article pretty much bats down all of the misinformation claims with relative ease. The only thing left is people in the comments section of that article pointing out that the author said she was raped once and didn't report it.

You going for business?
Pleasure, actually. Had some vacation time saved up and I've always wanted to visit the UK. I'm working my way north and then visiting the Highlands and the Isle of Skye. Should be fun.

I'm sitting at a Starbucks in Westminster typing this. Yes, an American, in London, at a Starbucks. I'm the worst. (I just needed wi-fi and it was close.)

Or you know we could be upset that the article is totally innacurate. Nah, that couldn't be it. I'm sure you would love if a writer, an alum no less took shots at your school that were just totally not true.

I feel bad for the girl because she obviously had massive problems that her parents threw under the rug but the ND football player in question did absolutely nothing wrong. College girl get makes out with college dude who tries to feel her breast and when girl freaks out he stops.....yeah that sounds like rape or sexual assualt. Get the fuck out of here

Looks like Butch Jones is Tennessee's new coach.

The twitter outrage from Vols fans is downright hilarious.

Butch Jones will be the next Tennessee coach, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Friday morning.

The Cincinnati coach took the job a day after sources said he declined an offer to become the new coach at Colorado.

It's fucking bullshit that Hopkins didn't win the Groza award. Tulane's kicker plays half of his games in a goddamn dome, making his job far easier than any other kicker's. Not to mention Hopkins is the all time NCAA kicker point leader (and #3 among ALL NCAA football players), and he's tied for most successful field goal kicks as well (assuming he kicks one in the bowl game, he'll be the outright leader). He'll probably be the first kicker drafted this year too. What a damn crock of shit.

Reading his account of it, and you and ez's disdain for the guy, I can see why he would want to leave. If the fans still think of Alvarez as "coach" and he was losing assistants to better paying jobs, it doesn't sound like WIS is that great of a job. Top offensive coordinators are making close to a million dollars now

That said I think he has little to no chance at Arkansas, but you never know

It's also bullshit Sturgis didn't win it. He bailed us out so many times.

I'm jealous. I love London - need to get back.

I look forward to seeing pictures of that rock that always gets painted at Tennessee having "Another Season Butch-ered!" on it in the near future. Or something thereabouts.

Horrible year to try and hire a new coach. Far too many openings.

Even the sunshine pumper vol sites have melted down.

Can you blame them. It is an absolutely terrible hire and pretty much cements UTs place as a lower tier program in the SEC. The outrage is going to go beyond the AD and extend to the Chancellor.

One of the few times I will agree with a UF fan. Both of our kickers are leagues better than Santos. It didn't look like Sturgis was ever going to win the Groza, but her certainly deserves it more than Santos (but not as much as D-Hop).

Have fun! I'd love to go back to the UK some time soon.

Speaking of odd American things over there, when I went to EA studios in Guildford to meet with Slightly Mad Studios devs about Shift 2, the EA folks brought in german beer and Pizza Hut for us. The few of us from the US laughed that we traveled to London to eat Pizza Hut. The locals response was "Have you ever tried British pizza? Yeah, that's why we get this".

Mrbob, that chart is amazing. And I'm really not sure how I feel about these Brad Childress rumors now. I mean, he was a great assistant under Barry in the 90s, but I live in Mpls, and know how he coached the Vikes for those few years. Not sure if he'd be the one I'd want as a head coach.

UT just needs to get rid of its football program. Tear down Neyland Stadium and put up a new parking garage.

I won't be laughing when Arkansas only wins 5 games next year. Road games at Gata, Bama, and LSU to break the new guy in.

Just go in knowing that next year is an exhibition year. Just work to improve, and as long as they at least appear competent, the future won't look as bad. See: Alabama 2007.

Also: Who knows if Florida, Bama, or LSU will be good next year. High Probability they'll be good, but shit can go sideways in a blip. See: Arkansas & Auburn 2012.

I can get behind tearing down Neyland Stadium. They think they can try to hide it's Erector Set foundation, but I know it's still there.

We will have a great defense next year. Not as good as this year though. Unless the offense manages to be a lot better and not keep the defense on the field 70% of the game.

He is a bum slayer, that's why. He can pound the bad teams, but going up against good competition and he struggles. His terrible game day management shows up against decent teams. For example, when he called three timeouts last season in a tie game at Michigan State, when Mich State had the ball near midfield. Allowed Mich State to win in regulation on that hail mary pass versus going to OT when the Badgers had all the momentum. Then in the Rose Bowl wasting all those time outs in the 3rd quarter when they could have used them to tie the game at the end.

He doesn't have a good record against winning teams, nor in Bowl games. I don't know how he plans to change this going into the SEC West.
