I'm gonna be getting contacts for the first time later this week. I'm gettin my trial pair and that'll be for a week, and then I can order the actual ones, with whichever brand/color and so on.


My question is this....what's the deal with color contacts? And do ANY guys wear them? I mean I have dark brown eyes, and i wasn't planning on gettin like bright blue contacts, maybe like a mellow brown color instead, i dunno......but I'm just wonderin, is that like...not socially acceptable? :\ Any one here have color contacts, and have u gotten any weird responses/reactions?

The darker your natural eye colour, the harder it is to wear coloured contacts-- that actually change the way your iris looks.

There are contacts that you can wear that will completely change your iris colour, regardless of your natural eye colour, but they're solid coloured (no light can get beneath them) and only have a peephole available for your pupil to peer through.

Essentially what I'm getting at is, that you won't see as well in situations where your pupil will normally dilate to get extra light -- such as at night. As such, many opticians will recommend against these contacts if you plan on driving at night. They're great for times when you don't need to worry about how much light your retinae are receiving, but I wouldn't want to drive with them (at night) in.

As for what you're wanting, (a more mellow brown), try getting some hazel coloured contacts. It might do the trick. When you're getting fitted mention this to your optician and they'll probably have a few suggestions as to what will work best.

Unless you go from brown to bright blue, i don't think anyone will notice. If they have a problem with it, it's on them.

There are alot of guys that wear color contacts, but with dark eys they will all be subtle, none of them will be bright like on the pictures they show you. My fiancee works for an eye doctor so im in there alot, and have seen alot of guys wear them

I wish my eyes were a tad bit more hazel. They have a bit too much brown in them. That's all.

I used to for about a year ages ago. I opted to try out blue contacts, which made my eyes (hazel) turn into a greyish kind of blue. No one really cared with regards to people that knew me, save for when I ran into an old friend who hadn't see me in some time and I had blue eyes and a completely shaved head. The only thing that's weird is when your eyes get excessively dry and your contact shifts a bit since it basically looks like your eye is coming apart. It didn't effect my vision whatsoever.

I've had at least two people ask me if I wear colored contacts. My eyes are dark blue...guess it isn't common.

I tried it for about two months when I was 18. Since I hung out in alot of smokey bars and clubs, it was murder on my eyes.

why the hell does it matter? I doubt many people notice eye color and I highly doubt those that do notice it care.


I can only see gettign colored contacts if you're a freak like my old roomate who wanted naruto sharingan contacts =P
