Absolutely no way. I can't see them paying for anything except 100% exclusivity. I am guessing MS is going to be locking down game contracts/exclusivity hard now.

By reading some of your post, you clearly favor Xbox One.
So for you it doesnt seem a problem.
But lets say in a crazy parralel universe and Sony threw a load of money at lionhead to make sure Fable would never see a Xbox release.
How would you react ?
Not everyone has the money or time to get 2 console and play all the games.

None in particular, although when I learnt that Europeans in delayed country would have a free game, I was slightly jealous (yeah it's silly, but since I didn't intend to get the console before 2014, they would still have a better deal). I also know there was a date limit for that specific compensation, but I don't qualify for that one anyway (since the X1 isn't delayed in my country).
I just remembered that feeling when I heard about the possibility of a new change of policy; so it's just in case there's another compensation in the future.

By the way, I just received my confirmation, with a warning that the console is out of stock. *edit : oh wait, maybe that's because it's a preorder, and they can't ship it right now...

Not really. I get most of my info from Sony guys so it was basically sony dudes saying 'we hear Microsoft has platinum making a game for them' and that was the extent of the rumor. Wasn't enough to post (i didn't even believe it to be honest, there's a lot of 'we hear___ is doing ___' and it never comes to fruition. No idea what game it is or what territories it's releasing in.


Also - couldn't boat saying it's not coming to eu mean it's not coming to gamescom? Lots of room for interpretation there. We'll find out soon enough, I guess.

I've been saving for it since May. Currently I'm only getting Xbox One because of Halo and Killer Instinct. Halo series is one of the few series that I truly care about story wise. If those two games weren't on xbox I wouldn't be getting one.

Of course there is. It could be down to any number of reasons, and usually when that sort of thing happens they revert back to the previous revision if the current is unfixable.

It happens in pretty much anything electronics related. Sometimes it's even just down to a bit of buggy software.

It doesn't sound like it was developed with the explicit intent to reduce performance, more that it was just an unfortunate byproduct of whatever changes were made to software, maybe even hardware, that ended up with a loss of performance. CBOATs explanation lends itself to the idea that this is only temporary, but that it would've contributed to axing a livestream of the conference due to a lack of live gameplay that may have been originally scheduled for the event, though that's just my take.

Look up graphics driver performance reduction on PC, or simply the term "performance bug". This stuff happens during development, and sometimes it can make it into a release version.

They're obviously being pressed for time - devs must be rushing to complete the entire SDK, then spend time optimizing... Got to make those burn down charts go, well, down.

and anyways, last time microsoft did not hesitate to remove the HDD from 360 to reach more customers,
gimping the 360 for devs bigtime since they could count only on dvd.

I think cboat has heard the information wrong. I think the performance has increased by 15% to 20% which is due to the 'Mono Driver' which was recently implemented.

It is rarely an isolated, single change or feature that leads to bugs and/or performance drops. My guess is that is a common case of feature interaction. [1] Such things happen all the time, especially during late integration phases across independent developer teams and components (like OS and games) where practices like continuos integration cannot be employed.

Yes I understand what your getting at but MS have recently integrated the Mono driver which is said to greatly improve performance and they have upped the GPU clock speed.
A verified Xbox developer on reddit has also said that the latest XDK has improved performance.

And now cboat is stating this 15%-20% performance drop. I simply think he heard the information wrong.
