Diamond's Shipping List for September 15, 2004

EDIT: Since there's not a damn thing on that list that I ordered or really want to buy this week, I'll take this opportunity to instead plug the all-new GI Joe: Valor vs Venom DVD that goes on sale tomorrow.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
BATMAN GOTHAM KNIGHTS #57 - War Games continues! While I think the genesis of who set up this situation is incredibly dumb... the idea that old old characters like Red Hood will be returning is an interesting one....
IRON MAN #88 - ZZZZzzzzz but I'm such a Iron Man geek...
WOLVERINE #19 - Please end this Native storyline...
X-MEN #161 - Exactly how many times is
Exodus
coming back? Oh and he looks TERRIBLE in this one... when did he pick up the Magneto-lite costume anyway? I know I was out of the loop for awhile...

Maybe:
CABLE DEADPOOL #7 - Yeah I'm just throwing my money away here...
IDENTITY CRISIS #4 - I'm still not REALLY feeling this... but I'll at least check it out in the store.
MADROX #1 - Interesting premise but I thought he had more control over his power?
STRANGE #1 - I wanted Doc back but I'm not sure I wanted him back like this....
ULTIMATE NIGHTMARE #2 - Well #1 let me full of questions... so...
NEW X-MEN #5 - Teen angst... ain't it grand? No.

EDIT:
Maybe:
WANTED #5 - Wow completely missed this now I have to decide if I care anymore.

This week's haul:

Terra Obscura Vol. 2 #2 (of 6) - More good clean ABC fun with the original "America's Best Comics" characters. Solid, if not outstanding; I suspect I'm the only person here who gives a damn.

Ultimate Nightmare #2 (of 5) - Warren Ellis on autopilot is still Warren Ellis.

Wolverine #19 - I believe this is the last issue of Rucka's run, which makes it the last issue I pick up.

Please Save My Earth Vol. 6 - This week's manga pick, continuing the shoujo saga of angsty reincarnated aliens with psychic powers. Woo!

Yeah, I reckon picking up my comics can wait another week. Besides, I'm too busy reading this just this moment.

A pretty light but solid week.

IDENTITY CRISIS #4 <- This shoud be ...interesting.
WANTED #5 (Of 6) <- About time.
DAREDEVIL #64 <- A staple of my regular comic diet.
ULTIMATE NIGHTMARE #2 <- They promised a good ride, or something.

It's all about the ID Crisis.

I mean, seriously--

I love the Satellite era JLA
I love a good mystery
I love obscure DCU villains.

What's not to like?

Yeah, I know, ther's plenty to criticize. But even if this were an Elseworlds it woudl have me rivetted. "Big changes" or not, it's a great mystery with great characterizations.

BATMAN GOTHAM KNIGHTS #57 war games continues. mark my words. batman by the end of this will be an outlaw (officially)

IDENTITY CRISIS #4 (Of 7) nothing else matters this week. who else is married in the DC universe? i think it was a former hero that is doing the killings....

that's it. anyone want to speculate on who is the mastermind for ID? i dont think it's luthor.

IC #4 is it for me.

New Legion looks like utter fucking garbage. I give it six months before my preliminary "Fuck you, Mark Waid" becomes official.

Why not... Bruce Wayne was wanted for murder(during the time I wasn't reading I think)...

right with you buddy boy.

yes. but he was cleared of murder charges.

Snapper Carr? Can't he teleport?

that just might be so crazy it can be true. but last i saw snapper carr he was time-travelling with the hourman from the 853rd century.

I think the version of Snapper that can teleport has been hypertimed away.

He showed up in a panel of the Hourman series.

hmmm. guess that might rule him out. BUT... i hold to the theoryu that it's a former hero who had his identity exposed and now wants to make the heroes pay or something. i think it's triumph.

Yes... that would be why I said 'was'. ;) Batman at odds with the police would add an edge to some of his encounters with the individual policeman... something that's been missing in the informal cozy with the police current days, but I don't think it's something that would stay 'permanent'.

i just think it's all tied up to identity crisis one way or the other.

here's some mroe people i was thinking could have committed the crimes.

Smart enough to create your own technology to bypass such security devices.(the kryptonian, martian, thanagarian, new genesis, batman tech) I.E Luthor or Braniac genius.

Have an ability or power that allows you to control other mechanical/electronic devices. I.E, Constructo, Computo, Braniac again

I think the killer in Identity Crisis has to be somebody we've seen or heard about in the series itself. Snapper (with teleport powers somehow restored) would be a decent choice if not for that.

My money is on Luthor as a mastermind, with Phobia and Dr Moon as key players. Dr Moon apparaently specialized in messing with people's minds.

You think what is? It's already been disclosed that War Games was started by
Spoiler by mistake, attempting to follow through on one of Bruce's plans.

dr moon and phobia? good guess. he probably messed with dr light's mind (that's why he remenbers batman during the incident with sue dubny but the other heroes dont.) but what's luthor's angle?

oh really? i didnt read the begining of war games so i didnt know.... i think it was a mistake to let spoiler go but what do i know about training teenage heroes? ;)

Luthor out for revenge on everybody for not being president anymore. I think he was arranging to buy the LexCorp armor in issue one, as well.

Sticking to the four corners of the story, BM established that as far back as the Satellite Era, certain villains (Dr. Light, for example) knew how to penetrate JLA security. When recounting the story of Light's attack on green arrow wondered about on panel ("hey, we never did figure out how he did that (i.e., access the JLA transporter system.") Light penetrating security is shown on panel in flashback, with no apparent problem--he just materializes inside the satellite tube, implying he knows how to use it and isn't in need of some device or he sues his powers to defeat the security access codes.

One can infer from this that the knowledge of how to do it (call it the "back door") has been out there for years. An interesting question, then, is why are the killings only happening now? What has changed?

3 more days to go....

Oh wth it's already been disclosed no idea why I used the spoiler tag... after he let her go she was trying to get back in his good graces, she discovered his war games scenario(apparently he has different plans in place, etc..)she figured if she was able to snag some of the heads of gotham's gang he'd let her back in. She sent out all the invitations per the war games scenario but there is one problem...the person who is to put the scenario in play Bruce's alter ego Malone is suppose to show up and head up the meeting(he's big with all the gangs apparently). He doesn't show, nobody is running the meeting, one person gets jumpy... all hell breaks loose.

BOOKS OF MAGICK LIFE DURING WARTIME #3

I had to read the first two a few times to even fully understand what the hell was going on, but I really enjoy it thus far.

I might have to skip this week, as about 95% of my paycheck is going towards paying off the last of my student loan. Its gonna suck, because while I know everything will still be their next week, I'm gonna be thinking about it all week.
