...because DC had to put Ron f*cking Garney on JLA.

SEP040001 PREVIEWS VOL XIV #11 PI
I was all set... really, I was. After a lackluster stint of guest writers/artists (capped by the plague that is Chuck Austen), DC was finally going to get JLA back on track by naming Kurt (Marvels, Astro City, Conan) Busiek as regular series writer. And I was very eager to jump back on board; so eager, in fact, that I rather stupidly chose to overlook the fact that they'd teamed him with Ron Garney, Austen's partner in crime(s against humanity) on both JLA and Uncanny X-Men.
Sure, Ron Garney sucks. However, at the time this was announced I thought, "How bad can it really be? I'll try to put up with him, for Busiek's story." But then I actually looked at the last few issues of JLA, and as it turns out, Ron Garney's work on JLA is pretty f*cking BAD. So bad, in fact, that upon seeing it I immediately had the series removed from my pull list. I'm sorry, Busiek, but when the art is this bad it becomes too much of a distraction.
Here, see for yourself:
It's just... so painful.
So, nothing for me this week except a free copy of Previews. How about you?
