I guess K&K isn't coming so fuck it.

All Star Batman: I love two specific things about this particular arc. One, I love seeing the deconstruction of the relationship between Alfred and Bruce. As someone who is not read a ton of Batman comics, I like seeing something that seems like a definitive take on what exactly their relationship is. I would also like to see the same done for Aunt May and Peter, for Lois and Clark, for Luke and Jessica. Seeing the dynamics of the relationship played out explicitly is a treat. Two, I'm enjoying seeing the perspective of a superhero from a non-powered individuals POV. Honestly, I would love to see a series of comics where instead of seeing the superhero point of view, you see a bunch of non-powered individuals and you sort of have to piece together what the superhero was doing across a series of issues. I think that will be fun to read.

Angel: oh hey I caught up on Angel. One of my favorite time travel storytelling conceits is the concept of events being very malleable, but the flow of history being difficult to alter. It's basically the concept shown in the Final Destination series of films, where you avoid death in one instance and then you end up dying in some other way. I love it.

Black Panther: I hope the Coates' run on black panther is as long is Dan Slott run on Amazing Spider-Man. What's happening in Black Panther is really interesting and there's not quite anything else like it in comics. It's not just telling a story, it's actually weaving this beautifully complex mythology. I kinda wish that the marriage between Ororo and T'Challa never happened so that it could happen here where it's much more organic to the story. This book is amazing.

Black Panther and The Crew: Slight spoilers
ironically, this is a better Secret Empire tie in than any of the actual Secret Empire tie ins.
Considering the events of the, well, past year it's a pity that this book is going away because I really think that Marvel could use a strong social justice type of book on shelves. Occupy Avengers could've been that book but it wasn't very good and Champions should've been that book but it also isn't great. All that aside from the fact that it fucking means something when you put an all black superhero team together. RIP.

Bombshells United: Oh hey, if you release your comic on a Friday then I'm going to forget it exists. Team Marguerite killed it and I wish I lived in the world of Bombshells. They're winning compared to us.

Buffy: caught up on this too. I think the reason why I'm not enjoying season 11 as much as I enjoyed previous seasons is that the conflict feels too big. Buffy is basically fighting the government I guess and that just seems way out of scope for who the character is I know tha up on this too. I think the reason why I'm not enjoying season 11 as much as I enjoyed previous seasons is that the conflict feels too big. Buffy is basically fighting the government I guess and that just seems way out of scope for who the character is. I know that they've face world ending threats before, but this just seems like someone else should be handling this. It's sort of straining my credulity that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is going to topple illegal actions by the government. It's basically the problem of the Civil War comic, in that no amount of punching is going to solve the primary problem of a law that's targeting superheroes.

Deadly Class: this series is pretty great ratcheting up the tension because I am really concerned that this is going to turn into a bloodbath the next three issues if that long. This is still one of the best comics around right now but man it's super nerve-racking.

Deadpool: (this issue contains spoilers for Secret Empire 10). TTYL.

Doctor Strange and the Sorcerers Supreme: this really fell off when Nina left. It feels like a zero stakes comic, which is bad when I think they planing on using it to resolve the "Earth no longer has magic" problem. Which I guess is just in time for Runaways and other books with mages in them. Well, one issue left in any case.

Generations The Archers: hot damn I love Kelly Thompson. She couldn't save America, but god her Hawkeyes are fantastic. The Generations are getting better. Hulk, Hawkeye, and Pheonix have done a lot to move the legacy character's plot forward and Thor was just great period. I rather love this "event" and I would absolutely be down as fuck for an MCU version. Holy shit, now I want something that will never happen. Fuck man. How cool would it be for them to do time travel shenanigan passing the mantle to legacy characters?

...I don't think Marvel's editors caught that this was sarcasm from /co/:

This anon might be on to something

Malyse, how many ongoing series are you buying?

I will do this in the future...
Too many.

I have no debt and very low expenses.
So, Malyse, like... 100? It just keeps going. I wanna see the full list.

Not counting keeps me sane. I also don't have any current gen game systems.

Remember, I physical own the entirety of the original Civil War and Infinite Crisis. Including the lead up books.

So you have no list of all the current runs you're buying? Intense.

Kelly Thompson never wrote America. That was some dirty Marvel marketing.

There were several times during the last few days that I really needed to take my mind off things and think about something else other than freaking rain. Digital comics on my tablet saved me, brothers and sisters

Deadpool also gives some extra spoilers and elaborates:

Steve and Captain Hydra are now two entirely separate entities, with Captain Hydra now captured, so I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a comeback at some point.

So they
kill off Black Widow, but hey. They now have a new shitty villain they can pull out at some point down the road.

Seems like a fair trade.

Yeah, he's trying to get his stuff adapted.

Successfully no? The milkfed company they formed had a few pick-ups I believe including Wicked Div which they are representing. Kelly Sue is already writing for TV among other things. I thought Sex Criminals got optioned.

I haven't heard anything since we initially learned about it.

I'm (unironically!) mad that my shop sold out of America #6
that lenticular cover of Rorschach with his inkblots alternating with the logos of DC Entertainment's most popular and recognizable IP is staggering on multiple levels

DC will definitely do a Watchmen ongoing series in the next few years

This continues to bother me because it's dirty and Marvel should be ashamed. Kelly shouldn't have to be on twitter telling people in the nicest possible way that she didn't write any of these issues

(W) Gabby Rivera, Kelly Thompson (A) Ramon Villalobos, Jen Bartel

Lies

She corrected me on twitter and told me Gabby wrote 100% of it she was just consulted briefly. It's a shit marketing move that leads people to believe Kelly wrote something that isn't up to her standards.

This doesn't make me mad but it definitely made me optimistic about a potential jump in quality when nothing actually changed. Except for the art, which actually is better here.

I would hope not.
it's gonna happen, and it's gonna be drawn and written by Tony Daniel or some shit. AT BEST

Hitch's new book lol.

Inhuamsn was supposed to be Marvel's Game of Thrones and then he left and Soule turned them into Royal X-Men. I honestly like that idea more.

tbf, you can't do GoT without comitting to killing important characters and keeping them dead, so that wouldve never flied either.

Which, i feel, is a bit of a shame. Taking xavier out did allow the xmen to pursue some interesting venues.

I mean I like what we got instead.

If fans got their way the industry would've collapsed before most of us were born lol. Every time I see a fan post or make a videos about what publishers should be doing I just facepalm.

I think the Inhumans are in a weird place since they started to become their own line.
A lot of people are bitter about the X-Men stuff and will never get over it.

Does one make the other better or worse?

It doesn't, but Watchmen is legit lost cause, Moore and Gibbions are never going to get the rights back ever. The cover is pretty damn lazy, but what did we expect after finding out the hook of the rebirth issue. There's a good chance that by 2019 the property will be HBOs new hotness.

Yeah. I think I need to find a good starting point, since reading the first run of Inhumans post -Infinity.
