Sorry if I offended any Vegans out there; I was trying to think of "weird Thanksgiving dishes" and tofurkey stuck in my head and wouldn't leave. Plus, it sounds funny! Tofurkey!
Anyway, keeping it short and sweet this month. Here are some of the books to look forward to in November:
+Amazing X-Men #1 by Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness (Nov 06). A new series! During "Second Coming," Nightcrawler met his end at the hand (literally) of Bastion. But when they find out he may not be as dead as previously thought, to what lengths will his fellow X-Men go to have their fuzzy blue elf back?
+Cataclysm: The Ultimates' Last Stand #1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley (Nov 06). This is it, folks: the end (maybe) of Marvel's Ultimate universe! The Galactuses (Galacti) of the 616 and Ultimate universes have merged, and they're hungry enough to consume the entire cosmos! Can the Ultimates hope to stop him, or is their reality doomed?
+Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe #1 & 2 by Christopher Hastings and Jacopo Camagni (Nov 06, 20). Longshot's a pretty lucky guy. But when someone is targeting the lucky for death, that spells bad news for him, and worse when literally everyone in the Marvel universe, hero and villain alike, starts gunning for him too! Are the odds too much to handle, or will Longshot prevail, saving the Marvel Universe and proving himself the luckiest sonovabitch there ever was?
+Avengers Arena #17 & 18 by Dennis Hopeless and Kev Walker (Nov 13, 27). The final battle royale begins, as Arena double-ships this month! While the kids on the island above tear each other apart, two in Arcade's underground lair battle the mastermind himself. Who lives? Who dies? Who is changed forever by the experience? Find out in the stunning conclusion!
+Thor God of Thunder #15 by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney (Nov 13). The god of thunder gets his DnD on, as he battles Malekith the Accursed just in time for the movie to hit theaters! The assorted members of Thor's League of Realms chase the Dark Elf across the Nine Realms, but when one of their number falls does it spell doom for their unsteady alliance and their noble quest? Roll for saving throw!
+Infinity #6 by Jonathan Hickman and Jim Cheung (Nov 27). Marvel's 2013 summer event reaches its thrilling conclusion! Thanks to the might of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Builders have been struck a terrible blow and are defeated. Now, entire planets throughout the cosmos are rallying to the standard of the Avengers, as the heroes of Earth lead a thunderous charge against Thanos and his formidable army. You won't want to miss it!
+Forever Evil #3 by Geoff Johns and David Finch (Nov 06). DC's first event of the New52 marches on! With the heroes of Earth dead, captured or in hiding, the planet's defense falls to the villains, led by none other than Lex Luthor. But can these bad guys put aside their differences and own desires long enough to deal with the other bad guys? Plus, the reason for the Syndicate's arrival on this Earth is revealed.
+Batman #25 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo (Nov 13). The Zero Year storyline begins a new phase, as the Riddler plunges Gotham City into darkness! Can the emerging hero known as Batman stop him? Also, see how the blackout affected other heroes during this time, as Zero Year branches out into the following titles: Action Comics, Batgirl, Batwing, Batwoman, Birds of Prey, Catwoman, Nightwing, Detective Comics, The Flash, Green Lantern Corps, Green Arrow, and Red Hood and the Outlaws.
+Colli- uh, Federal Bureau of Physics #5 by Simon Oliver and Robbi Rodriguez (Nov 13). The same great story, continuing under a new name! The "Bubbleverse" disaster is ended, and the members of the FBP have a lot of cleaning up and reflecting to do. Adam decides to take a break and hits the desert in search of answers, not just about himself but about the father he never knew.
+Harley Quinn #0 by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and Various Artists (Nov 20). Once more, the Clown Princess of Crime stars in her own ongoing series! But are any of DC's artists good enough to measure up to Harley's standards? Who among them is worthy of illustrating her wacky, outrageous hijinks each month? They'll all get the chance to try, in this debut issue featuring a cavalcade of artists -- and a scene in a bathtub!
+Scooby-Doo Team-Up #1 by Sholly Fisch and Dario Brizuela (Nov 20). Remember those episodes of Scooby-Doo where Adam West Batman and Burt Ward Robin would show up to help the gang thwart Old Man Johnson's plans to steal land or whatever? If you liked them, then you're in luck as this new series features the Dynamic Duo and the Mystery Gang on the trail of not one, but TWO Man-Bats!
+Aquaman #25 by Geoff Johns and Paul Pelletier (Nov 27). Series writer Johns bids farewell to the undersea hero, in this over-sized conclusion to "Death of a King!" With great power (and a coral crown) comes great responsibility; and now that Aquaman knows the truth of his role as king, his relationship with Mera stands at a crossroads. Will a difficult choice bring them closer together, or destroy their love forever?
+Alex + Ada #1 by Jonathan Luna and Sarah Vaughn (Nov 06). Jonathan Luna returns to comics, after a three year absence! Alex is just your average normal guy, living a solitary existence in the not-too distant future where owning realistic androids is all the rage. But what happens to Alex when Ada, the latest X5 model, drops into his life? Will Alex keep her? (...Yes, this whole thing sounds a bit creepy and "Japanese anime" to me, too.)
+Saga #16 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples (Nov 13). "Two war correspondents stumble onto the biggest story in the universe." That's it. Look, I know you guys love Saga; that's why I include it in the OP from time to time, to show that it's a recommended title. But the solicits are crap, and since I don't read it I have no idea what to put here other than what the ad copy says and that it's won a bunch of awards and stuff.
+Umbral #1 by Antony Johnston and Christpher Mitten (Nov 13). A new fantasy series full of world-building lore and treachery! Rascal is a young thief who one day witnesses a series of brutal murders. The victims? None other than the royal family! Their deaths foretell the return of dark forces to the world, and only Rascal is privy to their return.
+Satellite Sam #5 by Matt Fraction and Howard Chaykin (Nov 20). Michael White and Kara Kelly continue their inquiries into the death of Michael's father, Carlyle White aka "Satellite Sam." But the investigation is taking them to some dark places, and they begin to find that the things they see will stick with you, and some hungers can never truly be satisfied...
+Black Science #1 by Rick Remender, Matteo Scalera and Dean White (Nov 27). A new science-fiction series from the creator of Fear Agent! Scientist Grant McKay and his team of adventurers have cracked the code of Black Science, and entered another reality! But now their team is lost, trapped in another plane of existence full of alien worlds full of dark, ancient secrets. Can they find the way home, before horrors and madness consume them all?
+Rat Queens #3 by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch (Nov 27). It's not wise to double-cross the Rat Queens. They're ill-tempered, surly, vicious, and very VERY good at stabbing things repeatedly until they fall over and die. Especially the short one. So when someone decides to double-cross them anyway, you know how it's going to turn out. Blood and guts, EVERYWHERE. Better bring a poncho.
+The Star Wars #3 by Jonathan Rinzler and Mike Mayhew (Nov 06). The original version of George Lucas's sci-fi classic continues! With the Imperial army on the march, Starkiller and Leia rescue two droids from the terrors of the desert while Darth Vader recruits a Sith Knight to his cause. Meanwhile, Jedi general Luke Skywalker faces down a squad of stormtroopers wielding deadly lazerswords! None of this is right, damn it!
+Clown Fatale #1 by Victor Gischler and Maurizio Rosenzweig (Nov 13). When a group of sexy female clowns bored with their big-top lives are mistaken for hired assassins, one of their number senses opportunity! Convinced to abandon their miserable lives of harassment by drunken yokels and shoveling elephant poop, these painted femmes decide to hit the road as hitmen, and enter a world of violence and cruelty that oddly suits them.
+Dark Horse Presents #30 by Various Writers and Artists (Nov 13). Beginning this issue, five new stories by a huge number of all-star talents! Fred Van Lente and Reilly Brown present the story of St George the Dragon Slayer! James Rich and Brent Schoonover mix science fiction with hard-boiled mystery in Integer City! Stan Sakai brings you action as only he can, with Nilson Groundthumper! Steve Horton and Ryan Cody introduce Monstrous! The City of Roses returns courtesy of Phil Stanford! All this and much, much more as Dark Horse's anthology series continues!
+Buzzkill #3 by Donny Cates, Mark Reznicek and Geoff Shaw (Nov 20). Ruben continues to work through the stages of his AA program under the watchful gaze of his sponsor Dr. Blaqk, acknowledging his mistakes, apologizing to the superheroes that he's wrong, and confronting the ex-girlfriend whose life he ruined. But when a betrayal sends him over the edge, a demon from Ruben's past returns with disastrous results.
+Conan the Barbarian #22 by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli (Nov 20). Brian Wood begins his final Conan story with "The Song of Belit," continuing his adaptation of the Howard classic "Queen of the Black Coast." The love between Conan and Belit has endured countless trials and hardships, and emerged stronger than ever. Now, as the Tigress sails along the coast towards a forbidden river, the strength of their bond will be tested like never before...
+Sledgehammer '44: Lightning War #1 by Mike Mignola, John Arcudi and Laurence Campbell (Nov 27). When blueprints for the advanced warplane known as "the Flying Wing" are stolen by Nazi spies, the mechanical titan known as Sledgehammer is sent behind enemy lines to recover them at any coast. But this mission will pit him against a foe unlike any he has ever encountered before -- one known only as the Black Flame!
(NOTE: Got called in to work early; will finish write-ups for IDW and Indy books when I get back tonight. -- Spike)

+Mr Peabody & Sherman #1 by Sholly Fisch and Jorge Monlogo (Nov 27).
+Legends of Red Sonja #1 by Various Writers and Artists (Dynamite, Nov 06).
+Pathfinder #11 by Jim Zubkavich, Sean Izaakse, and Carlos Gomez (Dynamite, Nov 13).
+Protocol #1 by Michael Alan Nelson and Mariano Navarro (BOOM!, Nov 13).
+Unity #1 by Matt Kindt and Doug Braithwaite (Valiant, Nov 13).
+Bravest Warriors #14 by Joey Comeau and Mike Holmes (BOOM!, Nov 20).
+Mercy Sparx #3 by Josh Blaylock and Matt Merhoff (Redzic, Nov 27).
**UNDER CONSTRUCTION; COMING SOON**
I finally came up with an idea for a segment to replace "On the Bullhorn." I'll let you know about it the closer we get to the end of this month, but I can tell you that it's going to be another member participation section of the OT, but one that's a little more broad and easier to manage than "Bullhorn" was I think. So keep your eyes peeled, and watch this space!
Spoilers. In the age of digital comics, they are increasingly becoming an issue in these threads, as the drive to be first to discuss the week's releases overrides common sense and good posting etiquette. So over the coming weeks and months, the members of Comic GAF will be collaborating on and will eventually be implementing a system of general rules for avoiding spoilers on new comics in the Comics OT thread. But for now, please abide by the temporary guidelines outlined below. And remember, you are being watched and judged by your peers.
1. Discussion of newly released comics that involves specific plot details shall be accompanied at all times by the appropriate use of the
tag function.
2. Direct posting of full-page images from newly released comics using the tags is strictly prohibited, and outgoing links to such should be accompanied by the appropriate spoiler warnings.
3. Direct posting of images or spoilers from comics that have yet to be released is strictly prohibited, and outgoing links to such should be accompanied by the appropriate spoiler warnings.
4. Covers, solicitation copy, and/or promotional materials shall not be considered spoilers and are allowed, unless their content involves specific plot details; in those cases, outgoing links with spoiler warnings should be used.
5. The unmarked posting of spoilers related to comics will be allowed after a period of one week (Wednesday to Wednesday) from that comic's release. (NOTE: Longer? -Spike)
6. Members of Comic GAF are expected at all times to exercise common sense and polite discretion as a matter of courtesy to fellow posters. I know, tough one.
7. If you are unsure of whether or not posting something would constitute a spoiler, err on the side of caution and use the
tags.
In short, don't be Stephanie Brown. Don't be... The Spoiler. For one thing, you're not that loveable. >:|
Happy reading!
