COMICS! |OT| October 2016. Capes, Crime, Bondage, and sometimes Overwatch.

Bendis writes Carol terribly. Bendis writes Gamora terribly. Bendis has the public hand wave the bullshit Carol has been doing with a quick "but you're keeping us safe!".

Man I don't know the only interesting stuff about this event has been related to Captain America everything else has been grade A shit, I've never felt so divorced from a main event before this.

I hope Monsters Unleashed is just fun and drama free because I've had about enough of where the Marvel Universe is right now.

I liked all the Champions trio tie-ins too, especially Ms. Marvel's. Spider-Woman had a pretty good one as well, it was just a bummer to see that book go from crossover to tie-in so quickly. But I don't know how they could have avoided doing a CWII tie-in.

While this is true I didn't actually mind her run pre Captain Marvel that went through Secret Invasion.
And even that was coming off her being terrible in the original CW and I don't think she ever got her due for that.

There is some AMAZING banter in this week's Deathstroke between
Slade and Damian
. Smack-talk of the year. I might have to post a few panels next week since I don't think a lot of people are reading this book and this shouldn't be missed.

I would worry about carol. Once the movie comes out they'll just replace her personality with the one done in the movie

RIP comic star lord

I just hope they don't totally Tony Stark her. It sucks that comic Star-Lord is dead but at least he's not the exact same character as Tony. I am worried they will make her a little too Tony-like because there is so little foundation to build from right now.

Problem is, she might the female RDJ Stark, the MCU women are cold, emotionless beings. Mantis might avert this but it's silm fucking pickings.

Y: The Last Man #1: Loved the contrast of women in authority/powerful roles throughout the issue, and the backmatter where The Unmanned World synopsis discusses the percentages of how many men were lost in powerful positions by the "gendercide": CEOs, religious leaders, political groups, etc. Really nice touch...

Great first issue! (And don't worry, no way am I doing write-ups for every issue.)

You totally should. Or per arc maybe? Would love to read your thoughts.

Even though I hate how they offed Bruce I did really like the Totally Awesome Hulk tie in.

You know who was a great Captain Marvel? Karla Sofen

Moonstone was great. Dark Reign was a lot of fun actually, something I sorely miss.

I don't even know how they are going to finish this mess in two issues. It will be interesting to read what Bendis was originally going to do with 7 issues instead of 8 when it's as badly paced as it is right now.

Lol, after posting about Spider-Man and social issues the immediate next one is a super on-the-nose issue about America's prison problem. Which is actually depressing to read because it's still such a problem 40 years later.

It matters so little. We know so much about how it ends thanks to the delays and we will surely know even more by the time #8 finally hits.

I do like that they are setting up some villains to be in powerful positions again. Kingpin on the rise. (Clone Conspiracy)
Doc Ock
is back. It's only a matter of time before Doom turns heel. The X-Men are about to take down the Inhumans. And we know there are some stories with some major heavy hitters coming back in the new wave of books. Should be nice to see heroes fighting villains again.

Edit: blehh I'm browsing BC and I can't even find the story

Now we have the sex symbol version.

I think that Bendis' Star-Lord was a little different from the movie version.

Bendis' Star-Lord was a lot like DnA's Star-Lord but a lot less competent when it came down to being a leader. He still had the same attitude, more or less. Maybe a lot less.

Then the movie happened and the movie version started eating the Bendis version very slowly.

And now Brevoort is dropping knowledge on Twitter with one of the notable tweets being that the thing about only physical floppies mattering is BS.

The time it irked me the most is when the X-men movies came out they started drawing wolverine with his claws popping out like the movie version (in fist not on top). That drove me nuts!

Oh man

I thought I was the only one who was bothered by this lol. It drove me crazy when they first started doing it.

Bendis has a thing with other writers' pet characters in that he's particularly bad at writing them for some reason

like remember when he brought back Marvel Boy/Sentry/The Hood and they were all really weird

Nice pick. I'd also like Aaron, Bachalo. He is my fave X artist.

I like Bachalo a lot too. I wish we could have a Remender X-Book but he didn't wait for the ship to sink, he heard the water would be cold and assumed there would be an ice berg.

Al Ewing needs to get on that X-Men action. Al Ewing on a Cyclops-led book. Drawn by David Marquez. Money.

Marquez too busy making the big money books to work on some solo action. Say what you will about the writing in Civil War but Marquez art is killing it. All the heroes look so good.

Oh, I meant Cyclops-led team book. Marquez is one the finest artists Marvel has right now. Jim Cheung 2.0.

Which Cyclops we talking about here? Not that goofy one for babies I hope.

OG, baby. Only accept the best. TinyClops is too busy whining about not being as awesome as his older self.

I was really happy for Marquez when it was announced he was off Iron-Man and doing Civil War 2. His art really is the only thing going for it.
