So, I just got around to reading the big old Infestation book I've had sitting on my shelves for a while, and... that was weird. It was both the first and second Infestation events from IDW, which are largely separate but have the same structure of stories with a vague theme (1 being zombies, while 2 is Lovecraftian elder gods) kicked off and ended with some weird series I've never heard of.
But yeah, it's so odd to me because it's a giant event thing pulling in a ton of different franchises, and then... they don't cross over at all. It's just each world dealing with the same basic problem in their own short story. So as a result the quality is of course a scattershot in terms of quality, with some working better than others and not having an effect on anything else. So yeah, it was an okay read, but nothing that's going to probably stick with me, outside of how unusual it feels to see an event play out like that.
Oh, and there's the standout note of a little single issue called "Team Up." It wasn't exactly a great issue, but it's amusing in that it's a part of a crossover that just spends its entire length taking the piss out of "giant crossover event" stuff in general, calling out damn near every event you can think of from the big two while also throwing in little visual gags like referencing the famous Heroes Reborn Captain America image. Like I said, it's nothing too special as that's pretty much all it is, but it amused me.
