I've read four trades in a week, I'm pretty sure that's all the comics out there so I might be done for awhile. Also, trump wins the debate tomorrow.

BLACK MONDAY MURDERS #3
BLACK SCIENCE #25
FIX #6
KILL OR BE KILLED #3
LAZARUS #25
MONSTRESS #7
SHUTTER #23

That's a pretty killer week right there.

I think you will dig lots of it :p

Bit sad Elsa Charretier couldn't finish my Harley and Ivy commission before the con but she gave me something really cool to make up for it. Surprising sketches .

I'll be on the look out for it. I'm in a Facebook Group called "Comic Book Sketches, Commissions, and Autograph prices" and it pretty much makes FB worth it. People just post the art they get at cons or wherever. I love looking through it.

I greatly enjoyed The Walking Dead #159

I like the development of zombies as a tactical device that we have been watching since the Governor first backed a truckload of them into the prison yard. It constantly makes them seem dangerous in new and interesting ways, which is sometimes a challenge in a book where the characters have had to live with them for so long. The Whisperers moving among the horde disguised as the dead and killing with knives when they get close enough has been very effective thus far...so effective that the alliance fighters' only choice is to use their own strategies against them. We'll see how that pans out.

The new leader of the Kingdom seems like he could turn out to be a pretty interesting character. Kirkman is playing the long game with the relationships between these settlements. At this point I bet the next war is of the civil variety.

RIP Lucille. You murdering bitch.

I'm new to the graphic novel scene, having only read Scott pilgrim 1-6 and the first two volumes of Saga. I really enjoyed both series. I'm planning on finishing the rest of Saga, but I wanted to try some more series so I just bought the first volume of Fables, Y: The Last Man, and Rat Queens to see if I like those also.

I really like Saga's mix of sci fi, fantasy, art style (like this part a lot), and mature themes (sex, violence, language). Are there any other series with a similar art style that are like that?

American horror story s6 episode 3: I'm all out of nopes, I'm officially done.

Gwenpool 6 was mucccccch better than 5, didn't love it but at least if felt more substantial than 5.

In her current series, which I find awful and have decided to drop, she is that way as she's essentially a protector of those in her neighborhood despite still being immoral/amoral.
"Neighborhood protector" isn't exactly an anti-hero job, though.
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
But you know, though. You know it's true. Look at how many street-level series we have, now. It's time.
I WANT THEM NOW, THOUGH. NOW GODDAMNIT.

Cannibal #1: I...dunno about this one you guys

To paraphrase the summary of the setting on the first page: there's a virus that causes people to crave human flesh. It doesn't change them in any other way; they don't have to eat human flesh. This is clearly intended to be read as zombies who act like people and look like people and feel real bad about wanting to eat people. Instead it feels like the book is about a virus that turns people into serial killers.

I mean, this is a thing that actually happens, right? An overwhelming drive to kill people, or even to eat human flesh. And it's not something we excuse because those compulsions motivated the killer. Most of those people are evil, and they go to jail for the rest of their lives or are even put to death. The fact that it's a virus doesn't really justify it either. They obviously know it's wrong but they do it anyway? Don't think I'll be shedding a tear for them, if you ask me to you've lost me. This issue
doesn't quite go there
, and I'm going to give it a second chance to more clearly express its aims. But it does
seem to be heading in that direction
, so I am reluctant to recommend it.

Jessica Jones #1
I've been craving this feel for awhile now. I've been debating going back and re-watching the show and re-reading Alias for awhile now, and this definitely helps fill that void.

I was pretty nervous about this, and currently still am. I'm not a fan of splitting Luke and Jessica up. I'm not. I'm not a fan of the wee baby Dani gone missing. I will say, though, that it's a great mystery to drive the book.

I'm loving this first issue. It has the feel of Alias, but you can tell that Jessica is a significantly more developed character. She doesn't seem as vulgar or cold. She isn't drinking anymore. She feels more developed. Like she's grown, and that's great. One of my greatest fears is that she was going to regress in order to make this book work, and she hasn't. The stutter and self-interrupting sentences that Bendis loves so much are still ever present, but not nearly as heavy as they were before. Jessica actually feels like a grounded voice as opposed to the self-questioning "I'm on the verge of a breakdown at any moment" character she used to be. This is noticable given how her classic "I uh, well uh, I uh don't uh, know" way of speaking isn't there.

Also fuck Misty.

I liked this issue. I liked it a lot and I am practically exploding with anticipation for the next one.

Secret Wars related?

Part of me is tempted to pick up Monstress #7 just for the art. I bought the first 6 and thought they were gorgeous, but I didn't think the actual story was very compelling so I dropped it. I can't seem to keep the narrative straight in my head -- instead it's just a jumble of beautifully drawn characters.

Messi I'm sorry but I beat you m8. All I needed was 2 days.

Edit:

You know, that's a great trailer for the show, but is Danny going to be all serious and brooding the entire time? I'm a much bigger fan of fun Danny...

Jim Lee seems to have had a fun NYCC:
jimleeart Before I crash out I have to share this one last post...so during one of my signings at #nycc2016 this amazing fan in the red shirt brings this GINORMOUS painting which is a recreation of my X-Men 1 covers. The best part was when asked who painted it--he replied his mom. It took this sweet, even more amazing woman 4 months to hand paint this image. Now that's motherly Love. She deserves a medal, a shout out and her son's utter devotion. How can his future spouse measure up??? Etch the entire Batman Hush run onto life size marble tablets?!?!? Reimagine the first arc of my Rebirth Suicide Squad run as a flash mob interpretative dance??? Seriously--come on now!!! 😳😜😂

This is a difficult question to answer man, because Saga is so far up there in the realm of best american comics out there today. It's hard to draw comparison between other books, or anything similar. Best bet is to do what you've did, which is look at BKV's other stuff. He's working on Paper Girls right now too, and alongside Y, he has another well received book called Ex Machina. The Scott PIlgrim guy has an Image book right now too, called Snot Girl. Fiona Staples worked on Archie for a little bit but that's REALLY nothing like Saga haha and I think Saga has pretty much taken up the rest of her time the last few years.

Otherwise, have a look around at what else is being published. If it's mature different books, Image put a lot of stuff out like that, although they vary wildly in tone, genre and themes to Saga. Some of their best books right now (obviously imo) are Souther Bastards, Lazarus, Rumble, Deadly Class. Specifically Sci-Fi there's Descender, Invisible Republic, Low (although I wouldn't say any of these are particularly like Saga in tone).

In terms of just great books that have finished up their runs and are imo incredible, you could check out: Locke & Key. Sweet Tooth. Scalped.

I think with DC's current line-up of creatives and judging by the success Tomasi is having with his Superman direction, this is as good a choice as any. Can't wait to see the art for the book too. I appreciate as well that DC does not fear having their character's get older and mature by having kids, and having the family aspect exist for two of their top heroes. These are themes I'm genuinely interested in seeing explored. It's not going to hit Saga's level of depth, but it's engaging and interesting in its own right.

Welcome to the wonderful world of comics. You should try Stjepan Sejics Sunstone series it has love sex lesbians bdsm friendship laughs and wonderful art. It is my favorite book and most everyone here loves it. Also check out his series Death Vigil, both series trades are published by Image. Sunstone vol 1-5 and Death Vigil vol 1

I wonder if he yelled at the same guy twice because the person asking him about it in the video asked a similar question at the Ta-Nehisi Coastes/Steve Orlando/Tee Vixen Franklin Race & Sexuality panel.

DC Rebirth panel highlights - Juan Ferreyra has strange grocery store habits and Benjamin Percy has the best voice.

Sucked that Christopher Priest only got to talk for about a minute at the end of the panel though.

Sweet been looking forward to this since it was announced even more now that Tomasi is on board.

Decided to go back and watch Daredevil season 2 because I never got passed episode 3. Damn this is fucking good just finished episode 6, the woman who plays Elektra is hot fire and she is crazy to boot. I think I made a good decision in shelving Luke Cage till I finish this. Shane is great as the punisher can't wait for his show.

Iron Fist looks pretty cool from the teaser. These shows got me more hype than any movie.

If I didn't like Tomasi's Batman and Robin, will I like his Superman?

It depends. If you like Superman/Jon as characters more than Batman/Damian then you might.

The format is fairly similar in that it's a mix of traditional storytelling with a strong focus on father/son bonding and family dynamics. If that's what you didn't like about B+R then you likely won't like Superman either.

Super cool, looking forward to January when I can finally pick up the Supes trade.

People slept on Tomasi, his GLC and B&R are some of my favorite DC comics.

I agree on both fronts. His GLC was always overshadowed by what Johns was doing, but he did so much to build out the Corps and make us care about the random background characters. That was such a great run and really helped make Sinestro War work much better than it otherwise would have.

New Superman #3.

This book is a great example of how the colorist and penciler improve the story in a great way. The facial expressions, and vibrant colors make everything pop. Keanan is a dummy who wants attention, but at least he told everyone why. He even apologized o_O.

4 bigs happened in this book that is going to change things up real quick not only for China but America as well.

1. some of the most dangerous villains including something that even had superman shook
are being held in china supermax prison

2.Keanan came out
revealed his secret identity, the china league, and more

3. The main bad guys were revealed, and I love the designs.

4. Lex luthor, batman, and others know about Keanan now.
