Good shit, Medalion/PhoncipleBone. You kicked it off right. :)

Dat new season scent sure is intoxicating. Just hope I find this fresh crop of episodes more rewarding than last year's mostly shallow offerings.

There's a lot of gems in S2 and a lot of worthwhile experimentation. Shit is underrated, although definitely inconsistent.

I would not call it underrated. If anything, it is overrated. But I will agree that it was inconsistent.

As a whole, season 2 was fantastic, but the unevenness does bother me. I am looking forward to watching it again soon to see how it holds up upon a second viewing.

I'm think season one was getting to the point where they even knew that the show could do those kinds of things, season two is seeing the different kind of things it can do, and season three will bring everything together cohesively and push the boundaries of the show overall instead of differing in creative intention from week to week.

The show cannot be overrated when it's struggling for recognition and viewership on a regular basis.

Tell that to a Joss Whedon fan.

There were many gems in season 2 of Community, but some of the episodes were trying too hard to be "different" and failed because of it. The show is at its best when it balances the real and the absurd.

Agreed. Episodes like Halloween and Jesus Abed really stuck out sorely to me.

Yeah, for sure. I remember liking the episode with Troy's birthday, among a few others. But overall, the overly spastic tone started to grate on me a little. And the characters kinda left me cold, for some reason that I can't quite pinpoint.

To be fair, I only watched the season once when it aired. I might warm up to what they were trying to do if I gave the whole thing another run-through. But as of now, when I look back on season 2, I just sorta think "well, better luck next time..."

That's my hope.

How do we not have a popcorn.jpg of rich making kettle corn?
...not that we're allowed to use things like that outside of the thread, of course.

I just love that the show has the freedom to put the characters into virtually any situation and allow the inter-personal dynamics to work their magic...be it Britta dating a war criminal, or being trapped on a spaceship simulator from the buttermilk nebula (...wait....that's just a sticker).

I am in the minority that thought the Halloween episode in Season 2 was awesome. That one was SO over the top that it worked, unlike the Rocket Science one.

Jesus Abed was lame. The one that still sticks out as a fantastic episode in every single way was Troy's Birthday.

QUETTLE QUORN.

I found out yesterday that Danny Pudi is fucking 32, that was some seriously borderline "Hannah Montana's teenage brother is in his 30's" shock right there.

Season 2 defense force right here. Season 1 is better, but I wouldn't call s2 superficial or anything.

Also snes is following this thread and said: "I was banned for telling people who were going "lol Wii online" in the DQX thread to shut the fuck up. #someonewantedtoknow"

This is nitpicky, but they use the version without the serifs.

That's a fun time snack!

Great, can't wait for more POP POP.

BTW, in post #45, bottom picture, what is on Abed's shirt? The multicolored guys?

Also, I used to say "Cool. Cooloolcool." all the time, before I saw Community. Now, whenever I say it, people think I'm copying Abed. :(

A different take on Pac-Man on a t-shirt

I see what you did there, Mel. Or River.
Side note: Abed could never get into Doctor Who, he would be consumed with obsession, especially if he got into old Who. I could not buy Abed making a DW reference without establishing that he just got into it, but then they would have to make up a reason to make him not like it anymore by the end of the episode, or else they would have to make him reference DW every week to stay realistic.

You ruined my glorious title you jag! (Nah, I like it better, I wanted to see Goodman referenced too :lol)

Can't wait. Also can't believe it's still under two weeks away D:

EDIT: WALL OF FUCKING SHAME

I will aspire to post than 92 times this season :D (I'll actually be watching the show from the beginning this time, lol)

Anywhere I can recap? I have a terrible memory and can't remember what the hell happened in Season 2. Has Chang been fired? What went on in the last episode?

I'm so glad they got another season. I really love every character on the show. There's not a single one i don't like.

Anyway, I'm wondering who they've got directing this season. The Richard Ayoade directed episode was awesome. I still wish we'll eventually get an Edgar Wright directed episode. That would be perfect.

Wright's too big of a name, unfortunately.
Dan Eckman is directing 306, I think it is. He's the director for Derrick Comedy.

Yes. YES. YES. I'm very excited for the new season and not afraid to be creepy and say Alison Brie is one of the hottest out there.

Obviously this is an amazing opportunity for you to start your own study group. If you haven't fought off a zombie outbreak, engaged in an all-out paintball war and become clay-mation by next season, something has gone terribly wrong.
