Hey Guys, you'll know, you're smart....

A friend of mine recently installed a new hard drive to his computer, and now gets this error message "No Boot Device available boot up aborted". He put old one back in and still gets the same message, and it has us stumped. Any ideas of what's wrong and what to do next?

Do what tenchir said, and (keep in mind that this could hose his comp) check his bios for what his boot list is. If he doesn't have the hds set to boot, thye won't.

Replace cables and chect to make sure it's set to master if it's the only drive, or slave if it's the second one. Also make sure you're using the correct cable inputs when inserting them on the back of teh drive.

Thanks guys for all your help. My friend has not gotten back to me to advise if your suggestions worked or not, but thanks heaps for your assistance and I will let you know how he goes.
Champions you are, champions!

Is it a SATA HDD? Then make sure the sata operation is set up in the BIOS properly, usually going combo will work.
