[Comrade Crunch]

This just got put up on Prime today and I'm loving it.

The premise is that Channing Tatum was mailed this classic Cold War-era Romanian Cop Series, forgotten thanks to the fall of the USSR. Him and his friends remaster and dub it into english. It's basically in the same vein as Spoils of Babylon, but way more consistently funny and just as strange a viewing experience.

It stars the voices of Channing, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and Nick Offerman.

Pretty much, though it's played a lot straighter and satirically.

This is a weird show. The ads are sort of deceptive in making it look more Darkplace or Italian Spidermand than it is. As noted above, it's played very straight, but at the same time it's not very committed to being presented as a show from the 80s. The aspect ratio, production values, and cinematography are all very modern, this does not look like an 80s show at all, it looks like a period piece in the same way GLOW or Stranger Things are. But then they filmed it in Romania with a Romanian cast, so I really just don't know what to make of it after one episode.

I like that it's played mostly straight. Makes the jokes, like watching the chess match, more impactful. It's odd but it's charming. I have a feeling I'll like this more than the upcoming Tick reboot.

The way it takes itself so seriously in it's own way while being so funny is masterfully done.

I've been watching it and I think it's pretty damn good. Love the Romanian actors and voice overs work really well. I'm 4 episodes in now, so should be finishing this weekend. Anyway, watch this, folks.

Just finished it and loved it. I thought the premise was definitely unique and the directing,writing, and acting (both vouce dub and actual actors) was really well done. I thought the dubbed voices would take me away from the show but after a while I stopped noticing and instead apppreciated the at times dead pan delivery, Tatum especially did really well.

One scene in particular had me cracking up was the main detectives reaction in the porno theater lol. So good, recommend it, hope more people watch this show
