Oh my God, fucking finally! I've been itching for a replay ever since I finished 100%-ing Dark Souls II (like two weeks after the PC version came out) but I figured I might as well wait until this happened. Didn't think it would take so long.

Can't wait to start over with a clean slate. And I kinda hope it took this long because they did some tweaking under the hood. Would be nice if they finally patched in proper resolution settings and such.

hopefully they fix the connection problems that made an annoying mess of multiplayer in Dark Souls. (as if!!!)

summon failed, summon failed, summon failed, summon failed, summon failed, summon failed, YOU HAVE BEEN INVADED!, summon failed, summon failed, summon failed!!!!!!!!!!!!

annoying as hell. made me go back to the Ps3 version.

and yes, i had my ports open etc.

GFWL in a nutshell.

I've been waiting for this moment as well. Can't wait to start over fresh.

I was actually just about to tweet Namco's community managers to see what the status was.

Would be nice if it fixed a lot of the online connectivity issues and boosted the population. Kinda sucks having to play on Xbox for any sort of online action.

Always down to play more Dark Souls, and would love to start yet another new character if a ton of other players are too.

That's not necessarily true; they may implement some tool to transfer saves/achievements as other games did.
That said, and I won't pretend to speak for everyone here but just state a personal opinion, I would almost prefer if that was the case.
I would take it as a stronger incentive to replay the game from start.

Frankly my only significant concern is about DSfix.
Are they going to break it without implementing arbitrary resolution natively?

It would be kind of amazing if everyone in the community had their saves wiped at the same time. You could play early level PvP without having to deal with twinked invaders for once.

I just started another playthrough, might wait to see if my saves get lost before I continue. Which is a shame..lucked out and got the BKH and my first ever BSS from the first Knight I killed.

Now I can finally convince friends of mine who were on the fence about the game to actually give it a go. Convincing them to try the notorious Dark Souls AND also swallow the GFWL poo sandwich was just too much to ask a friend.

Nice, haven't reinstalled DS1 again ever sine I went from W7 to W8.1 because of GFWL.

Hope they let us carry the saves, but if not its ok, I'll just redo my Zeus god of thunder build again.

If not then I'm glad I went and got the extra Sif scene out of the way just in time.

Might make it an opportunity to roll again as a mage. Just to see how overpowered magic REALLY is.

  • In the month of November, there will be a period by which Games for Windows Live Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition users will be able to transfer their Save Data (characters + progress) and Achievements over to their Steam accounts.
  • Players will still be able to use their Games for Windows Live Tokens to redeem the Steam version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition at no additional cost even after the migration period ends; but game Save Data and Achievements transfer functions may not be available.
  • Games for Windows Live Rankings will not be transferred to Steam.
