update from chris seavor:

okay guys;

We're currently heading for ZBR on March 3rd (zero bug release)

If we hit that okay (fingers crossed) that means we have 4 weeks of intensive bug testing, where all new bugs must be fixed within a 24 hr turn around.

This puts us at beginning of April for RTC, (release to cert).

Cert takes 3 weeks (we twiddle our thumbs)

If we pass Cert, then we get RTM (release to manufacture)

2 weeks later we hit the shelves....... end of April...ish.

Everything else is in the lap of the gods......... lots of things can go wrong between now and then, but lots of things can go really well

Currently, we're well on track.

If MGS want to hold us back (for whatever reason), don't blame the TEAM!! We're doing everything right..............

Another update from him (http://216.239.37.104/translate_c?h...d6865109e245e1ffdbbe299f&showtopic=5043&st=15) :

"All regional versions of the game are in the same bundle, inc PAL and NTSC.
As far as i'm aware the release date for the game is simultaneous for everyone;

US, UK, Japan (yes, that's right; Japan) , Australia, Spain, Germany, Frenchys and i think Netherlands and Italy. Conker is definately getting a wider audience this time.......

Incidentally, localisation is a pain in the arse to the programmers.... and God only knows what all the jokes have been translated into... Hope they're still funny."

And two bonuses, still coming from Rare Extreme's Forums :

Whatever happens, it's very likely to sell more than it did for the N64...which is an improvement any way you look at it, considering that it sold so poorly the first go-'round.

Good news! I know this game will kick butt! RARE COMEBACK IS NEAR!

I fail to see how a remake of an N64 game can be marked as a comeback. Yes it is a great game but it's also 4 years old. The entire thing, apart from the multiplayer, has been done before by the "old" Rare. It's an awesome game in it's own right, and I'm suprised to see so many GAFfers haven't played it before, but it's still a 4 year old game in a shiny new look. No comeback at all.

I'd love to know if you made that remark when they released GBTG. and if Conker bombs... if you'd make that remark about their next title. OMG!~!@ PDO! KI3~!!!!@

I fail to see how you think that a brand new Live multiplayer mode that happens to be the main focus of the game makes it a mere remake. They spent much more time on this mode than on the single player remake. The "remake" is just a bonus.

So you think that warrants the time taken for devolpment of this thing?

Was 2 years warranted for SW: Battlefront, or any other multiplayer-centric game? Who's to say?

And all they did for single-player was put you in the mp game with bots, Rare is rebuilding an entire game.

They didnt have to tart from scratch did they? All single player content was completed years ago, so all that was improved were the aesthetics.

Multiplayer was in the n64 version but im sure they built significantly on that thought.

Still, Rare is too damn slow. If it bombs, Microsofts reaction will be a sight.

If you've seen any movies of Conker Live and Reloaded, you'll see that the multiplayer has nothing to do with the N64 version's.

Also keep in mind that they had to build a graphics engine that, surprise surprise, pushes the best graphics the console has ever seen.

All the environments were rebuilt, all the characters remodelled, all the textures redone... sure, things like level design and dialogue were already done (unless they redid all the voices too?), but simply "improving the aesthetics" isn't something that's done overnight. There are also indications that there'll be some extra stuff added to the sp as well.

And aside from perhaps the concept - yes, the entire multiplayer game is being built from scratch.

After being disappointed with MechAssault 2's online mode, I sure as hell hope Conker does the "lobby" right. Bungie - share your damned code with the other devs already!

Yeah right, right, I guess you like placebo? ;)

I don't care about a shitty third-person online shooter that's meant to promote Xbox Live, rip-off of various war movies, I want a good single player game with rip-off of those movies, and the trademark Rare dark humor goddamit! I picture it as if, it were to be a single-player game of the Worms series, but oh, the MP part is a BONUS! :lol

the LIVE is what will sell this game :)

LIVE has failed to sell many, many games already. I think it will do fairly well but just because of the content of the game, not because of its online component.

Really, I can't see nothing so special except for the graphics. To me is online focused.

You must think of Starfox Adventure as a GameCube graphical powerhouse then.

Do you think Sneakers on the Xbox looks good, too? It also looks-nice with it's mice fur-shading! :lol

Finally! Now if they get PD0 out near xenon launch (edit: and it's a Triple A title) Microsoft will have broken even with the purchase. CAN RARE DO IT!

If they achieve the same level of quality than with Goldeneye. Plus, it took everyone by surprise, one of the best selling console games of all times came out of the blue and introduced FPSes to consoles in a killer way.

They can do it. The same way 3DRealms can make Duke have the same impression Duke Nukem 3D has in 1996. CAN 3DREALMS DO IT? :lol

:lol Broken even? I hope you're not talking about money, because Microsoft will probably never make enough money off Rare games to justify the purchase this gen, and probably not even next gen. Hopefully having Rare will get a few people to by an Xbox, but considering what they have put out so far, I doubt it.

What the hell? You do know the orginal Conker team are working on the remake?

And its entirley multiplayer focused, single player = bonus. A comeback indeed

GO RARE!!! OWN THE FUCKING HATERS!

If it's that way, I'd rather play that old third-person shooter by Acclaim with the furry animals. :lol

you have rather bad taste. just sayin.

No, thing is, what I loved about the mature Conker character, is the single player experience, so I am utterly disappointed Rare chose to go with the multi-player component as it's focus. ;)

um, not even if Perfect Dark 0 sells 10 million copies will they get close to breaking even...

It's not like they stopped spending money on Rare from the time of the purchase, they still have to pay their regular checks...

have you been paying attention to the development of the game? they are focusing on both. they are even adding content to the single player

Then I will wait to see if the mentions in reviews about the single player part are really positive before I'd buy it.
