Control 2 has been confirmed and already in development!

Control was incredible and Alan Wake 2 is a masterpiece. I can't wait to see the crazy stuff Sam Lake is planning for Control 2. Remedy Connected Universe is 🔥!

Someone made a good point. The sequel should not take place in The World Tree like the first game. Hopefully we get to see Jesse actually visit the other dimensions instead of just reading about it in cases.

I'm pretty sure we will finally leave the Oldest House to explore the world(s) in the sequel. Otherwise it would just be a copy of the first one.

Just finished replaying Control after finishing Alan Wake 2 and it's the superior game, the kinetic combat, the intriguing story, the wild physics and environmental destruction, the game is sublime top to bottom. So much potential with a sequel, they really need to go all out and dive into other worlds/parallel dimensions etc.

I loved control and it's dlc. Played Alan wake remastered and it was decent. Is AW2 actual better?

AW2 is a bit slower, plays more like a survival horror game and puts a stronger emphasis on story. though I feel like they share a similar level design structure (Car instead of Control Points to Travel, Big Levels with multiple paths to choose, Tools instead of Powers to unlock new areas and stuff)

oh dats crazy.

I assumed they just did nothing, like 100% the whole team, janitor and everything just worked on Alan Wake 2, like you can't even THINK about Control 2, or they'll fire you, cancel you socially, call da police on you /s

Northlight is the only engine yet shown that rivals Unreal.
Hmm, not seen many UE5 games which would look as good as Northlight. If anything i'm disappointed with UE5 so far. Most times i can't even tell if it's UE4 or 5.
Anyways i want Max Payne remakes so badly.

Opinions and all but, pump the brakes. Masterpiece? In my best Casey voice: No chance.

I'm glad I played it, but, in the end, I did not enjoy much of my time with Alan Wake 2. I see no reason to replay it. Control is superior and I have problems with that game too. Remedy took a big shot with AW2, but I think they really whiffed it.

That's like asking if Super Mario Odyssey is better than Tears of the Kingdom. Different games.

Alan Wake is a survival horror game with detective stuff inbetween. That also means combat is less dynamic and less "spectacular" but more claustrophobic, slower and "personal". In a way.
AW2 is a very good game. And so is Control.

God, I loved Control.

I always tell people that I reckon it's what you'd get if David Lynch made a video game. It's so damn weird in places.

Yeah, not enough scripted qte infested setpieces and pander to the cuckoos in this one.

Talk about getting defensive

Good thing I don't enjoy boring games where you play as a red haired Karen in some incredibly dull environments with storytelling that's extremely poor and uninteresting with some horrendously shite third person shooting mechanics

But you enjoy shitty woke writing with a combat\stealth system that was stole from arkham series, dogshit pandering sidecontent with pussy peter and token morales saviour of the day?

Good for you :messenger_kissing_smiling:

This is about Control. Bringing up other games just shows how insecure you are gym wolf.

Stay on topic.

This is not good news because Control is the absolute worst of their games. How anyone can get remotely interested in such a bland and uninspired IP is beyond me

Maybe they can make the next one more interesting and coherent ? Dunno, either way, kinda bummed. I'd rather have a quantum break sequel

You know they're also working on remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2?

So you post a bored gif and you don't want to be challenged on your opinion? If you are so bored why do you even enter a control 2 topic?
When i do a snarky comment on a game that i don't like i'm ready for people calling me out.

Do you know we are in a forum right?

I'm more in-topic than you entering a control 2 topic to ask why people are excited for the game, what kind of stupid question is that?

Even if i don't like death stranding i don't ask people why they liked that pretentious turd, they probably have their reasons :lollipop_squinting:

But to answer your question:

Graphic and destruction were nice
The bureau location was cool (a bit monothematic sure), and the eerie atmosphere was good
The story is the usual remedy quirky stuff, you can like it or not, i liked it more than quantum or aw1
Shooting was fun, meaty and the powers were fun, one of the best controlling telekynesis power i ever tried (psi ops remain the king)
Many people loved the metroidvania structure

It is not a better game than spidey 2 overall, but equally enjoyable.

You're not challenging my opinion, you're throwing shade at a completely unrelated game because you don't like my opinion

Should this topic be a safe space for only people who really enjoy control? There's a lot of people who didn't and we are disappointed in this news

Really hyped for this one especially after AW2 raising the bar graphics-wise. And since it's Remedy we're looking at 3-4 years development max.

There's so, so much to do with the Control universe from a storytelling point of view it's crazy.

I edited my post, so you can read what people liked in control (or at least what i liked)

You could have said that you prefer if they focused on another game or whatever instead of posting a bored gif.
(And i repeat myself, if you post a bored gif you must be ready for people calling you out in a topic MOSTLY made for lovers of the first game)

Who knows, I really did not like the characters, story, or setting.

The mechanics were ok and the level design was light metroidvania, but nowhere near as compelling.

I'll reserve judgment till I see it but the sequel has a ton of areas to improve upon

I can understand the critique on story and charas, i didn't loved em neither, i liked the setting tho, we don't have many linear games on a single "magic" location that change and shit, it was neat.

What compelled me to play was the fun combat with powers, the technical aspect (destruction mostly), and the metroidvania structure.
The weapon choice was small but they all felt different and they were fun to use, and the shooting was meaty, i don't know how can anyone say otherwise.

And the game controlled like a dream, it was just a fun game to play.

Ok I take back my comment about shite combat. In retrospect it was fine, though didn't blow me away.

I guess I would have preferred Remedy to make a new IP with similar core mechanics

But they showed with AW2 they can really improve upon the original, so I'll keep an open mind

Yeah it was nothing special or new, it just flow well.

And i'm an absolute sucker for telekinesis powers in videogames so control just hit the right spot, you never get bored of throwing shit to enemies.

Heh, yeah it was rad when I just played the dead space remake for the first time. I probably didn't use that ability nearly as much as I should have

Control was great. Since I'm a PE fan, it's as close as what I will get to something that would be a remake + GITS + Matrix.

Could've sworn the second was confirmed to be in development over a year ago.

Honestly I want the old house to act as a base/home/field office with the occasional related mission. But most the game being travelling the country to investigate varied events. Kinda like xfiles, but if scully had superpowers

Good morning OP from your 1 year of sleep!

Control 2 was announced by Remedy Entertainment on November 11, 2022. It will be co-developed and co-published by Remedy and 505 Games, with Mikael Kasurinen returning as director for the Control franchise, and will continue to use the Northlight game engine.[1][2]

wasn't it confirmed ages ago? The making of vid for Alan Wake 2 has most narration done by dude signed as "control 2 director" lol
