Controllers |OT| It's the Hall-Effect Life!

They will, that's why I messed up my reply... 🤣.

6-7 Jan on their yt channel.

Btw busy month finally for us controller enthusiasts, I guess

Initially I felt that force feedback wheel in the controller was going to be gimmicky af, but watching it in action, it actually seems very usable.

that's still cheaper than direct competitors with similar features.

the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition is 120€ usually and is wired only. the wireless Pro version is around 180€.

it being wireless, having multiple sticks, replaceable button switches, TMR sticks and coming with a charger, makes it pretty damn cheap comparatively.

it also is a fully featured PC controller, which many Xbox controllers are not.
1000hz polling rate and full motion control support on PC is a great value add imo.

before, if I wanted an 8bitdo for my Xbox and my PC, I'd need 2 separate controllers to have all the features on both systems.

It looks cool, and I'm especially curious how it will feel with the wider grip angle fixing my comfort issues with the Ultimate 2.

They haven't really announced if they're gonna have steam input support yet for it, because that could sway me to try it.

At some point, does the Polling rate being any higher even make a difference? I guess if you have superhuman reflexes it might
I mean it's like gaming mice/keyboards aka all marketing. It looks nice on a press release and on the website but won't make a difference for 99% of people because they aren't good enough for it to be noticeable or to make a difference.

BeardSpike BeardSpike you gonna get this beast? I'm curious how much it will be

Hmm, my return window for my current g7 pro is end of January, so I might even try this out if it provides enough benefit.

I just want to know if they're gonna do Steam Input, especially if this controller is PC only...so I'm assuming it might support macros or turbo since Xbox certification prevents those features.

Apparently they won't have a Stream this year and will be releasing content through X and YT/ shorts during CES. Apparently some change of plans last minute - from the comments under video.

So we yet may see Cyclone 3 or new Tarantulas.

To me 4k or 8k isn't really getting me but Durin Durin mentioned features like Steam Input native support, Marcos, Turbo.

Also latency is really important to me.

Other than than anything past 1000Hz I don't see any improvement.

Probably costs less and the short-form content can reach a lot of people if they do it right.

I'd probably agree with you that 4k or 8k won't really feel different. 2K polling on the Rainbow 3 I could feel a slight benefit on the sticks, so I imagine it's diminishing returns after that. I will say that I felt the 1k polling on their gyro though...that was very smooth over any other I've tried. I think it's because the more fidgety a input like gyro or mouse, you can feel the polling rate vs an analog stick.

Just want one of these good controllers that fits my hands well to get Steam Input support. Even my new VKB Joysticks just kinda work with Linux using all their additional buttons.

Just popped over to /r/gamesir and people are saying the Cyclone 3 is delayed, which is unfortunate. I'm still interested.

Well… I made a weird discovery. RedMagic Cyber is literally an offbrand gamersir controller that looks like the cyclone 3. According to this YouTube video, it even works in the gamesir app. I still need to research it more. "What's going on here?" I don't know. China.

I mean... on PC that's not really that special.

you can set this up with any Steam Input supported controller in steam. or with DS4Windows with any Switch any PS4/5 controller.

would be more interesting on Xbox and PS5 tbh, but could be considered cheating there I guess...

I had a "Sod it" moment and ordered a Cyclone 2 yesterday. Arrived this morning. One of the seal stickers looked like it had been pulled open before, but I opened it anyway to see what the controller was like. There was something rattling inside the controller, so I've returned it. I have a replacement order coming tonight (thanks Prime overlords) and I am excited because my initial impressions of the controller are very positive.

Now I've got to slum it with my Tegenaria Lite for a few more hours, which already feels like a downgrade. For the 8bitdo Ultimate 2, that's way down the list now. Noisy thing.

Turns out I prefer slumming it. After some testing I didn't like the grip feel on the C2, and I found that the Xbox style shape didn't help the comfort. I did really like the shoulder buttons, but when I went back to the T3 Lite I found I prefer too many things about it.

All my hopes are back on the Steam Controller 2. Not that I dislike the T3 Lite/Tegenaria Lite, it's still a fantastic purchase and a hell of a bargain.

As much as I liked Cyclone 2 I also didn't found it particularly comfortable.

Some forum users say they like it and don't have issues with it's shape.

It's best to just order some controller yourself. Check it out and return it if you feel like it doesn't really click, since every one has different hand sizes it's really tough to just recommend one controller, lmao.

I suspect you would like the shape of Super Nova but you don't like rubber grips so this one is out, maybe try something like Nova 2 Lite, it seems similar to Super Nova alright, minus the magnetic faceplate and rubber grips. And it's in similar price range as Tegenaria Lite.

That Ultimate 3E controller looks very sleek and premium to my eyes. Wish 8Bitdo would update the shape though, it's not as comfy in my hands as the Gamesir G7 Pro x ZZZ.

You can see some hands-on footage from the CES2026 showfloor here (start at 3:00):

Received my ZZZ x G7 Pro a few days ago, will put it through its paces before posting some impressions.
Still playing with the controller, so jury's not completely out, but things are sure looking good.

So the number one thing that stuck out to me is how much less wobble the D-Pad has compared to the early G7 Pro editions, this is basically on par with the Wuchang version, and given the amount of accessories etc in the package (and having two sleek af magnetic plate sets), I think this is basically gonna end up being the definitive G7 Pro version for most people (I know the Aimlabs version is coming out, but the colorway kinda sucks on that one).

Huh, it isn't exactly easily visible without disassembling ES Pro, on other controllers you just push the trigger in and it is easily visible.

Here I saw a bunch of plastic on mine so I assumed axis is also plastic, lmao.

Edit: Here's a look on mine ES Pro

Lol I got told by my wife to not ever contemplate getting new controllers until I let some go.

I think I have like 12 of them lmao.

But that retro gray might make me change my mind 👀

I managed to grab TT Pro retro on Gulikits official AliExpress shop as others seemed extra shady. Plus some kind of coupon has been added too, so that dropped the price further.

They are also selling Max.

Will report back once I have it. My dudes 😎.

I will try to write a similar detailed review like Durin Durin dropped a few times already in here. About things I will like and dislike about this controller. Stay tuned.

So I wonder if any of these newer third party controllers have rumble in the trigger too like the og Xbox controller.
As much as I love the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller as my main since I got it last march, it is very disappointing that it has only static triggers, playing Forza comes to mind where it is basically essential to have it.
I'd be easily down for an upgrade since this new tech is pretty awesome otherwise, Elite S3 clearly not coming, I just need the full rumble experience.

I couldn't give you specifics off the top, but a few of the newer releases advertise HD rumble so I think it's likely you'll find what you're after

I would love to have a good or great gyro on a PC controller. That is the one feature I miss having with the Xbox controller.

It's not really anything fancy like this "HD rumble" and such that I was looking for, just the exact same grip and trigger rumble as the basic xbox controller.

So I've been reading around these days and this GameSir G7 Pro kinda looks like what I was looking for.
But then I'm just not sure what's with all this D-pad talk. Could it be really that shitty? Or just regular shitty, like many many others in controller history... Funny how it so often felt off anyway on many of the controllers I had, probably the Elite S2 has the best one with the simple + layout, which this one have too.
The basic red looks good for me, or even the white would be fine, but I also wonder whether it's actually true that it was improved after release on the later batches. But I don't like any of the themed where it seems more likely to be improved.

My Vader Pro 5 arrived this weekend and I had some time to mess around with it on PC.

I've had my Vader 4 Pro for over a year and I really like the controller except for the back button placement as they are hard to hit and one of them misses clicks randomly from too much Rocket League.

The Vader 5 pro is a huge step up in it's build quality as it feels really good in the hands. It has a nice and solid heft to it that the Vader 4 lacked. The smoothness of the dpad and the solid clicks on the buttons feel satistying, There is an LED light on the bottom which thankfully can be turned off completely.

The back buttons have been redesigned and now feel like the Xbox Elite controllers and are very easy to hit. I have read reports of issues with the longer 2 back pedals breaking the inside plastic if you press too hard. Of course.

I really like the extra buttons next to the bumpers as I find them very easy to hit and along with the C and Z buttons you should have more than enough for remapping.........

Now the big downside for me. I use Rewasd to remap my controllers and currently Vader 5 is not supported. The reason is they took away Dinput on all their new controllers so even Steam Input doesn't recognize all the buttons. The Apex 5 did get Rewasd support as there is an option in their Space Station app to pass through to another program, but that is not an option on the Vader 5 currently.

I'm an older gamer and I get tired of pressing up on the left stick especially in open world games when you are exploring. In Rewasd, I can map the Left stick to toggle in the up positiion and with one press I have autowalk which is really nice. The macro support in Space Station is not very good and I couldn't get it to work. Luckily the games I'm currently playing support controller and keyboard so I could use Autohotkey to toggle the W key.

Overall I like the new controller and I think it's a nice upgrade over the Vader 4 except for the rewasd issue.

I have regular G7 Pro White, dpad is okay. Slight different feeling to the right.

Astray Astray has Zenless Zone Zero version I think, and it has better dpad.

Durin Durin what version of G7 Pro do you have?

I have the Wuchang version, but I think it's only the red one that has the weaker d-pad. All the others, including the white I think are improved.

Putting in the o-rings did help remove any more play and make it more solid to be decent enough.

Seeing the above comments with xVodevil xVodevil , I think the G7 Pro does replicate the trigger rumble that Xbox pads have since its licensed to work as one.

Anything from the Wuchang edition and on (including the ZZZ edition) basically has a guaranteed fixed D-pad. I have the ZZZ version and it's indeed got a good D-pad. Here's a video on it comparing it specifically to the older G7 Pros:

But if you are set on the red/black then I suggest you shoot them an email, Gamesir might be one of the most responsive companies around, even when compared to non-controller companies (seriously their customer support is fantastic).

i got an apex 5 a week or two ago and it's one of the best controllers i've ever used, i wanted something to top the wolverine v2 ive been using. I also own a gamesir kaleid and while theyre good they just feel too cheap and toy like.

I ordered a TT Max even though I told myself I'm waiting for Steam Controller 2. It looks promising but at the same time a lot of early reviewers are citing possible QC issues. Hopefully the batch where mine comes from is not affected.

Oh, I didn't know they made another change to improve the d-pad on the ZZZ edition, even over the white and wuchang ones. I tried the wuchang and the ember red, and the wuchang had less play on the plate. I just wish this ZZZ, and the new 8k one had better aesthetic design like the Wuchang or Ember. At least the ZZZ has the orange accent rings around the sticks + the game logo on one of the d-pad plates. I also dig that the case has a charging cable port in the back so you can keep it charging on the dock inside it.

Their discord is pretty active too, just hope the endless whining on their about Steam Input support will make it happen for all the G7 line.

I ordered TT Pro retro so we should both report back about pros and cons and quality of our controllers.

Btw

Ooh, that does look like a nice quality bit of kit.

What's the difference between the Pro and Max?
Pro- 4 directional dpad. Max - 4 and 8 directional dpad plus different height of thumbsticks.

Otherwise it has the exact same features adjustable force of TMRs, maglev vibration motors, swappable ABXY buttons. It should have the same low latency and polling rate also.

I didn't care for different heights of thumbsticks, I never used them in Elite 2 controller. I was initially hyped about them, but once I had them and tried them, I never used them, lmao.

And I will live without 8 directional dpad, I guess.

I like the retro color of Pro the most. So I picked that one up.

guys, I want a controller for the Switch 2, I have the Pro Controller (switch 2 version) but the grip is too thin and it hurts my fingers.

What would you recommend??

I'll try but I'm no expert on controllers. I can probably at least notice QC issues such as loose sticks, uneven triggers and that stuff but I'm not qualified to give a decent opinion on dpads since I rarely play fighting games anymore. Mostly I got the Max instead of the Pro cause I'm interested in their gyro for PC.

I need 4 programmable backpaddles, with macro and turbo modes. Solution? Charm focus has a remapping kit for Dualsenses. Only little soldering required.

I'll try it out once it arrives, but they promise a lot with this kit. For anybody interested, here's a link to a youtube video of it:

Unfortunately I couldn't find any third party controller that offers the same functions. Some have backpaddles but you could only assign one button to them. No macro functions. And I've not yet found a controller that has a turbo mode. So I gotta solder it myself and hope it lasts longer than the typical cheap china crap.

Yeah, I forgot about gyro Soodanim Soodanim

My TT Pro is already in DPD Pickup Box. So I will probably post vague first impressions later on today and maybe detailed review over the weekend.
