so um, what the hell? The trolls one is particularly disconcerting as I’ve had my kid watch that on Netflix.

“The doll's hair & skirt resemble the Trans & Minor-Attracted Person Flags, respectively,” he pointed out, providing illustrations of both the “Trans” and “Minor-Attracted Person” flags.

i mean looking at the doll, it’s pretty in your face the flags. wtf

I've read up on the trolls one, supposedly spot was meant for if the doll fell down and sitting down would activate different phrases, according to the marketing staff anyhow. However, that's obviously not where that went. I wouldn't say it's grooming like some sources are saying, however things like this need watched out for while the toy is still being made.

the LOL dolls sounds to me like they thought it would be cool for the dolls to have swim suits on when put in ice, but some of them came out weird and look more like g strings or lingerie

not sure about the flag stuff, sounds like too much of a stretch for me, especially considering the theories that this was intentional may not hold water... honestly this stinks of people trying to create faux outrage but i dont have enough info to make a call. i'd be weary of getting up in arms so fast, this might be a misunderstanding or is being reported without all the details

The button placement looks to be more lack of foresight than a calculated attempt at grooming little girls. And the supposed "in your face" flag stuff reads more like contrived nonsense some radical right winger came up with.

I expected this to be overreacting on the part of the parent, then I watched the video. That's disturbing. The flag stuff I'll chalk up to coinicidence-the whole movie has a rainbow motif. Unless of course, you go down the rabbit hole of the entire thing being produced as a pedo thing.

This sounds like an excuse. Just remove the button. There is zero reason to have a button on a dolls crouch.

The "minor attracted person" flag is absolutely a real thing. Calling shit radical right wing doesn't change reality.

The only thing they genuinely and inexcusably bolloxed up, was sculpting a 3d cock and balls on the dolls.

Keep that shit smooth like an action figure. If you want to sculpt life like vaj, go make a fleshlight

i dont know about that... its not inappropriate bc its not sexual. unless you are sexualizing it of course?

its just there so if the child sits the doll down, in a seated position, it makes a sound. i dont know what that sound is but its probably something cute that little kids would like. still think we need more details. i just wanted to share what i found with like, 5 minutes of googling. perhaps you should do the same to support your argument

i still dont think we know enough yet though. i just hate seeing instant outrage with no investigation...

to be honest I watched some episodes with my kid but I stopped showing it to him. There is some stuff in it that feels “off“ to me just like this doll thing. I’m probaly just being hyper vigilant but I don’t doubt there is messaging being built into kids shows.

I never said it wasn't a thing. I said that you are reaaallllyyy grasping at straws here if you see a vague resemblance with the colors and instantly jump to "it is a subliminal tactic to groom our children to be ok with pedophilia!"

Unless there is a lot more evidence proving it, this just sounds like classic lunatic right wing shit stirring. Again, I never called the flag radical right wing, I called the tenuous connections between the flag and the dress being radical right wing in nature.

Try not getting so defensive over your team and read before you reply, makes a world of difference.

What am I supposed to Google to make putting a button on a dolls crouch okay? Hasbro doesn't think it's a selling point, as it's no where on the box.

And the way that button, would sitting it down even activate it. It looks as if the user would need to poke the button to trigger the sound. If the goal is to make the character make a sound everytime it sits, why not make the button point out?

Or you could not make every issue a left wing/ right wing fight. I'm not the one calling people radical right wingers here, pissant

the button is indeed designed to be activated when the doll is set down in a seated position. if you can't see that then i don't know what to tell you

as far as googling, i was just suggesting you do a bit more investigating.

And Hasbro decides not to tell people why they are adding that on their packaging why? Since you apparently have all the answers

This is a joke right. Right? The left/right fight thing is your whole schtick on here give me a break. And sorry buddy, if you have an issue with me saying that go talk to all the radical right wingers who invoked such a thought in the first place. Funnily enough I googled this Sam Parker guy and checked out his Twitter, he is literally the person I described who would make such claims hahaha

I don't have kids (that I know of) so my opinion probably will be different from those who are actually parents. the color seems fine for me and it's a bit of reach to say they're going for trans and pedo stuff. the ass button does seem bad and should be remove thou.

Who dismissed the topic by calling it "radical right wing"? Was it me? Hmm let me look at my posts

No, no not me. Not the OP Liberty4all Liberty4all . Not Shantae Shantae or DESTROYA DESTROYA or Tesseract Tesseract .

Oh it's you. It seems to just be you. You introduced politics here. now you are dragging in some guy named Sam Parker that I don't know or care about. Good job. Moving on

I too was groomed as a child. Even with therapy I haven't been able to fully overcome it. To this day, I can't make it through an entire pizza without chucking it across the room at someone.

Sam Parker was the one making the connection between the flags and the colors. Once again, try paying attention to the flow of the thread.

If it’s fine why did hasbro pull it from the shelves. 🤔

Those colors remind me of Smarties. Damn, member Smarties? Someone get the insulin I’ll bring the Smarties.

please tell me that minor attracted flag isn’t real

wait what? Really?
Yeah.

The movie has an excellent "are we the baddies?" moment at the end and a general message of not trying to unify everyone under one "style" but allowing people to be distinct. It's not bad, but it is drenched in R E P R E S E N T A T I O N and subtext.

All of the sub-plots are teenage coming-of-age in substance. The main boy troll wants to confess love for Poppy but can't do it, one of the 4-legged trolls learns about "who he really is", Main Baddie just wants to impress her Dad, Guy Diamond brings his baby on the adventure, etc. I wouldn't call it a "kids" movie, more like a pre-teen movie disguised as a kids movie.

so your opinion, show is ok for a 2 year old? I haven’t watched enough to make a full impression yet but I had some concerns over left wing cultural messaging/propaganda they might be trying to push. The few episodes I did watch we liked the songs and it’s a bright colorful show — I’m trying to keep him far away though from any kids show pushing political agendas.

Perfectly fine. It's still a kid movie. But if you watch it yourself, you'll see what I mean. It doesn't mean the kid is being poisoned. Shouldn't they watch pop culture and learn to judge it?

The color of the skirt thing is a ridiculous reach, it's just a rainbow pattern. The whole troll doll thing is just unfortunate, there is no intent or anything nefarious.
LOL dolls on the other hand are just bad, we stopped buying them for my daughter even though she loved them as they are really trashy - skimpy outfits, high heels etc coupled with bad attitudes and while I don't think they are designed for grooming kids they don't exactly promote a positive image.

How are they to judge pop culture if all they've experienced is current pop culture? I would argue Liberty4all Liberty4all should be cautious about introducing modern media to his child(ren). The leftism runs deep in most kids shows.
I was raised among families who thought Pokemon was from the devil. Other parents thought Power Rangers or Pro wrestling led kids to become criminally violent. My parents taught me to politely ignore that kind of browbeating and nonsensical fear. Kids should definitely be sheltered from certain things, but they also need to grapple with the world. You can unwittingly become a helicopter parent if you try to second-guess everything the kid encounters, or might encounter. Have some faith in yourself as a parent and in your kid's intelligence.

Reduce the total amount of pop culture they are exposed to. The content doesn't matter as much as the daily quantity. All of it has a saccharine, stupefying effect.

Just an opinion. Not trying to give comprehensive parenting advice.

The colors on the dress and stuff being there to purposely reference the pedo and trans flags is a stretch for me. The Trolls movies and show are all glitter rainbow candy fuzzy colorful crap. The secret button placement and noises when activated are...odd...and the character isn't known for how much she loves sitting down (she loves singing and dancing and helping her friends and shit) so that's definitely strange.

I don't want to think nefarious parties are using Trolls to brainwash my kids into offering themselves up to pedophiles or whatever because I actually kind of like the movies (the show less so).

The LOL dolls thing is a bit more fucked, particularly how they give the boy ones dicks and balls. There's no good reason to do that. The stuff that appears on the girl dolls is trashy, but the dolls themselves have always been trashy. Never bought any for my kids.

But what really pisses me off about all this is learning there's a pedo flag. There is a flag you can carry to tell the world you're a pedo.

yeah in the 80s I remember some of my friends weren’t allowed to watch He-Man or She-Ra as it was supposedly filled with occult messages.

I saw this plushie at the store and bought it for my wife's unpatriotic boyfriend. He got upset and told me I insulted him on purpose.

I told him I just thought the red and blue and white were a good color combo, and since I thought he was an "eagle" and a "star" it was the perfect gift. He just laughed at me and called me a Trump supporter.

GAF what do I do? Should I at least try to return the plushie for store credit? He told me the colors are used for the American banner but I just don't see it.
