Henshin!
Thanks to The Contest, I've found it best to just avoid watching porn altogether. That means I need to fill that huge, gaping hole of time with TV programs that are long and enjoyable.

I want you guys to list your 5 favorite past or current TV shows and explain why I should watch them (assuming these are shows I can readily find on the internet, or DVD). Just to clarify some things: I'm probably going to start watching Seinfeld, because I really haven't seen many episodes, so that's one off the list already. I'm currently up to date with Heroes and The Office, as well.

Hm.. just 5 shows... this is tough...

Lost
Arrested Development
The Wire
Chuck
Big Love

They need no explanations. Just start watching.

1. Extras
2. Lost
3. The Office UK
4. Flight of the Conchords
5. How I Met Your Mother

They're good.
The end.

Battlestar Galactica
Lost
Rome
The Sopranos

I haven't watched it myself yet, but you're going to be recommended The Wire. A lot.

Also, the 5 seasons of Alias > Heroes. Fringe > Heroes. Although I still watch Heroes myself.

For TV comedy: Peep Show, Flight of the Conchords

1. Arrested Development - embezzlement, illusions and cut-offs
2. Get Smart - It's mother-fracking Get Smart, mother fracker
3. House - Hugh Laurie. Nuff Said
4. Firefly - Pirate cowboys in space :)
5. Boston Legal - Denny Crane

What? no 24 love yet? Honestly if you ever swing by the 24 thread the Gif's alone will make you watch it. Real time drama and one badass man stopping terrorists an hour at a time mixed all into one great package. What more could you ask for!

Nip/Tuck
Battlestar Galactica
Quantum Leap
Weeds

I don't watch much TV, so I can't think of a 5th one. Sorry for my failure.

EDIT: I forgot about Smallville. I haven't been as into it lately as I've been a few years back, but the 2nd season through to the first half of the 5th is mostly really good TV. Quite cheesy at times, but overall a really good show. The relationship between Clark and Lex and how it evolves throughout the first several seasons should be enough to keep your attention -- it sure as hell kept mine. Last two seasons weren't very enjoyable to me, however, so I kind of dropped it for now. I hear this season is really good though, but I couldn't tell ya.

Deep Space Nine
Babylon 5
Battlestar Galactica

All three excel in characters, and character development. They all have compelling plots and some of the most memorable moments on television.

Burn Notice:

think macgyver style "make it work" moments mixed with a suave guy with an actual interesting plot plus the side characters consisting of a gun running girlfriend who barely wears clothes (she is overly skinny but many of the other barely clothed ladies are quite pleasing to the eyes) and bruce campbell being bruce campell.

Top gear:

A car show for pretty much anyone that hates car shows as it answers all the questions you could ever imagine about cars. Such as can a car be turned into a space shuttle and actually be shot off? Has a communist nation ever made a good car? Is it possible to turn a car into an amphibious vehicle and cross the english channel? Is the ford fiesta a good sensible marine assualt vehicle? Can the ford fiesta outrun corvette using baddies inside a shopping mall? Whats the best driving road in the world? What car makes you look like the biggest cock? I bet you havent asked yourself those questions but they are sure fun to see answered lol.

And even better if you live in america you can get an episode free off of ITUNES until the 30th so you have no excuse. Give it a try.

Psych:

Maggie lawson, lead actors play off each other very well and there banter is extremely funny. THe cases have kind of become second to the characters themselves so if you want good mysteries to try and solve look elsewhere.

Penn and Teller's Bullshit

Its amusing even if you dont agree with there stance on an issue and the always find a way to get tits to appear in the show even if the argument doesnt merit them being shown.

Secret Diary of a Call girl

billie piper (with a very very nice bodied body double). If you got a girlfriend watch it with her cause amazingly girls i know all seem to ahve the same reaction. ***
Show title appears***
"how dare you make me watch this!!!!"
***show ends****
"so do you have anymore of those on your dvr?"
***proceeds to watch the entire season****

PS: my taste in shows comes down to whats fun not always whats the best written or has the best plot for that i would have to go with SCRUBS but i decided to focus on "lesser" known shows i guess

somebody read the OP

If your gonna count by votes, you'll get LOST. Have you seen the weekly threads?:lol

Followed by maybe the Wire.

BTW

ALL EPISODES of LOST are on ABC.com so thats probably the easiest to watch RIGHT NOW.

Umm, my votes

LOST
Babylon 5
24
Arrested Development
The Wire

(Not a top 5 list BTW, I'd have to think long and hard about that.)

Seriously. That was exactly the kind of list I was looking for.

Not just "LOST LOL"

Maybe I should have put a disclaimer for Lost, too, since I knew that would be mentioned a lot.

Edit: Wait, did I misread that? I couldn't find anything wrong with his list, either. Not like I'm going to go to town just because some boobs appear.

no where did i list porn, office, heroes, seinfeld?

They are all available via the internet via torrents or streaming websites...

im not seeing the problem. So i focused on the boob factor of the shows, he gave up porn not me :D he simply can ignore my suggestions (only the last one is really an issue for his contest honestly)

stop listing arrested development.

dude has a dragon ball z username. he'll probably hate AD

I'm surprised that this comment doesn't pop up more in my threads. Oh, maybe because nobody really cares?

Chuck - A ridiculous premise and episodes with ridiculous situations, but the show makes it not only work, it makes it extremely enjoyable. The cast all has great chemistry and really mixes comedy and drama together well. It is probably the only show I have watched that has so far gone through an entire season (there are 6 episodes left) without a single bad episode, although to be fair, two of them were pretty average. Plus it seems to have a revolving casting door of some of the hottest women on TV, although based on the reason for this thread that might actually be a negative for you. :lol

Two badass motherfuckers with mad style make jokes while they drive around listening to the best music of the '80s in awesome
cars catching bad guys while big real-tittied women ask for their cold ice rods admist a Florida heat wave. Miami Vice.

Wiggidy wham wham wazzle.

Battlestar Galactica

You know you want to

I'll be the nth guy to vote for Lost. It's not perfect, but it's incredibly engrossing and extremely addictive.

Definitely watch The Shield. One of the greatest TV dramas period. The acting and writing are excellent, and the character work--especially in the later seasons--is some of the most compelling stuff I've ever seen in a TV show.

And finally, Arrested Development. One of the smartest written comedies ever made, and the acting is equally brilliant.

Ok here's mine:

1.Lost - If you want an awesome adventure show with lots of characters to love (or hate) and wierd azz shit up the asshole, this is the show for you. As you can see, the show is good enough to render its fans unable to utter anything other than its name (see: this thread). I can't count how many time I ended an episode thinking "WTF! This fucking show!", I really don't think many shows on tv can handle the "wtf" surprises as well as this one.

2.Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia - One of the best comedies of the decade. It has everything I want, lovable characters, snappy dialogue, and amazing comic timing. The show gets more outrageous as it goes on, but it still manages to work.

3. Arrested Development - Probably one of the most intelligent comedy television shows ever. It has everything that I praised about Sunny in Philadelphia, but adds in more hidden jokes and pop culture references that you can catch in one viewing.

4. Freaks and Geeks - There are so many high-school comedy/drama's out there, but this is probably the most "real" of them all. There was so much for me to relate to in there, which is wierd seeing as it was set in the early 80s and I just got out of high school in 07. But there are so many moments where I think "yup, yup I know all about that". It describes how fucking awesome and awkward high school is for everyone so well, the you have to at least see one episode.

5. Dexter - Guy with serial killer urges works at Miami PD, kills bad people while trying to keep his shit from getting out. His character alone is probably the most interesting thing about this show, but he does hang out with some of the most entertaining caricatures out there. Motherfucker.
